  1. I mean at least they qualified, more than can be said for the men.
  2. Swimming stage of the triathlon familiarisation event has been cancelled due to the river's pollution being too high. They're confident it will be ok by Tuesday morning for the actual event but it could lead to the event being moved/postponed if not.
  3. The commentators talked about this, it was so they could hold the Rugby Sevens in the larger capacity Stade de France which is also being used for the Athletics later in the tournament.
  4. Scary stuff coming from Trump now - talking about people not having to vote in 2028. He's going to try and become a dictator, thankfully US security services should be able to stop him. This crap also ties in with Project 2025. Very scary.
  5. Silver medal for GB's Anna Henderson in the women's individual time trial. Australian Grace Brown in 1st with the gold and bronze medal for Chloe Dygert gets the bronze.
  6. First medal of the games for Great Britain is a bronze in the 3m synchronised diving for Yasmin Harper and Scarlett Mew Jensen. The gold goes to the Chinese pair.
  7. Long Olympic day tomorrow with the first events - Badminton - kicking off at 7.30am BST. The women's surfing finishes at 3am.
  8. Shoving loads of the countries on boats together rather than given them their individual moment of glory walking into a packed stadium as you normally get is pretty insulting to the most important people in the games - the athletes. If it's miserable to point that out then yes, I'm miserable. There's something wrong with the sound on the musical pieces as well, an issue that would be easier to address in a stadium.
  9. That was a bit unnecessary. The Gaga number was far from fun. To have someone as talented as her do something as boring as that is very impressive and not in a good way.
  10. This opening ceremony is absolutely dreadful. So disrespectful shoving multiple countries on one boat and interweaving the ceremony aspects and parade. Should have stuck to the traditional format.
  11. Swedish House Mafia should have been quite high on my list. Think I forget them as I was more focussing on rock bands.
  12. 3 fires have been set on the French high-speed rail network in what looks like a deliberate attempt to sabotage the games. Nobody has claimed responsibility yet. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cxe24vg59lzt
  13. Yup they're getting through the rugby sevens pretty quickly. Watched some of the handball this morning as was at a loose end and have to be honest didn't find it the most watchable sport. Basketball starting on Saturday will be more interesting I'm sure.
  14. BBC have put out a pretty clear explanation of the rights changes this time, no doubt they'll still get criticised for not covering more minor sports by idiots. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/articles/cjk3vkpxz1po
  15. Would have expected the IOC to at least see how Paris 2024 goes before given the winter games to them as well. What happens if this is a complete disaster?
  16. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/articles/c1vd91envz2o Two Canadian football backroom staff have been sent home after flying a drone over the Kiwis training session. Canadian manager Beverley Priestman will not take charge of the opening match- scheduled for 4pm tomorrow.
  17. Not feeling the snippet above at al to be honest. Very different direction than his last album.
  18. It's not being forced to vote for it - abstaining was an option to not get suspended - it's not supporting them voting against the government. The reasons are fairly obvious, to govern effectively you need a united party and this sort of small-scale becoming a regular thing would damage the government. These guys will possibly get kicked out the party at some point.
  19. The MPs who've previously campaigned against the cap and abstained to avoid getting suspended should be ashamed of themselves.
  20. Arctic Monkeys would be a nice edition.
  21. Qatari police will be on the streets of Paris for the Olympics as the state's sports washing continues. https://brusselssignal.eu/2024/07/authorita...reets-of-paris/
  22. I mean it's a bit difficult to have a meaningful discussion of this without either actually seeing the video or having a description of what's contained in the video. Hate when the press witch-hunt people without any more context. Unless this falls into the it must be the videos so bad it can't be shared on social media?
  23. Something odd going on - streams have dropped from the 800k to 1m mark regularly to now 400k-500k
