Never mind, will post when BARB or Thinkbox update as these are unreliable.

Because that is in the many the reason people have given up. I wasn't as you seem to think implying it was the only reason. It seems like you're in some pretty unsavoury facebook echo chambers if all you're seeing is racism though. It's 2024 most people don't give a damn about skin colour and those who do probably weren't watching Doctor Who anyway. How can you give the era a chance when the start of that era casually re-affirms the Chibnall nonsense and doubles down on the Doctor being adopted. It's an insult to the long term viewership of the show - it's like a Star Trek episode telling us Spock isn't actually part Vulvcan - completely silly and ludicrous. I can stand the show being bad - it's been bad on man occasions - I can't stand it being ludicrous or silly though The +7 figures are generally accepted as the important ones these days as 28s are now longer released. How the show does on Disney worldwide is likely to have more bearing on the show - you are correct on that one.

I've never said racism wasn't a factor. Racists exist and racist fans do exist, but making out that's the only reason people have turned away from the show since The Women Who Fell to Earth is rubbish. I'd be glad if you didn't try to put words in my mouth. The rot however started with Chibnall losing millions of viewers throughout the shows run, RTD is unlikely to bring most of those viewers back because the timeless child arc has destroyed the core foundations of the show. The fact the Doctor is now referring to himself as adopted just shows how much the rot has set in. The decline in viewership is a long term thing and let me be clear not RTD or Ncuti's fault - the rot had already set in and they're starting from a lower bar of interest from the public sadly. We'll see with the consolidated figures tomorrow where things actually stand. Another forum I use someone has reported pre-transmission figures as 0.12/0.14m - so if those figures are anywhere near in the ballpark where not looking at it adding the 2m or so it needs to reach the same as the last Whittaker episodes . As I said - I've got plenty of classic who and pre-Chibnall New Who who to get on with watching. I'll watch these and any series after them when I do eventually catch up.

I think we'll find the consolidated viewing figures are lower than normal anyway - think we get the one for Space Babies +7 tomorrow (or is it Tuesday? Whenever BARB update if it's even in the top programmes list with figures this low). Also if you think it's Ncuti being black people have an issue with rather than the complete destruction of the characters identity and the show's basis under Chibnall and from the opening scene of space babies I watched now under RTD era 2 that's the issue that's turning long time viewers away. 2.04m is a very low overnight even with the show available on iPlayer. Millions of viewers have turned off and aren't going to be brought back easily. For context that is lowest overnight the show's ever had. The streaming numbers will need to be very impressive to off-set such a low overnight.

Doctor Who • Space Babies
Just watched the first scene of Space Babies and turned off. Are we seriously keeping this rubbish about The Doctor being adopted? At least I've got plenty of old Who to watch before it went bonkers and rubbish.

I mean the autoplay does matter when it's the difference between it being No 1 and not being number one.

Minecraft - General Discussion
I've been playing Minecraft 1.16 recently and honestly feel like they should have stopped with that update. I've decided to stick to playing this for now as the changes to fundamental stuff like how terrain and ores generate in the overworld in 1.17/1.18 makes me feel like to play those versions I'd essentially have to start from scratch. I really want to play the newer versions but at the minute the learning curve looks too steep. Might make a new world in the modern version when the next update comes out.

Spotify really needs to crack down on this stuff. Makes a mockery of the figures. Makes a mockery of the numbers.

Girl On Couch & Billen Ted - Man In Finance (G6 Trust Fund)
This is horrendously bad. Even by boring repetitive modern dance music standards this is awful. Can't believe Billen Ted would put their name to this.

UK General Election 2024
Given how messed up they've managed to make army recruitment they have no right to be ahead on defence. Hopefully Kier and the rest of the party can rip a new one into him on this, given there's so much that's gone wrong in that field. I don't think "who do you trust to keep you safe?" framing of the election is going to do much or anything for the Tories - similarly rhetoric worked when Corbyn was in charge of Labour but it's not going to go anywhere with Kier in place and his background.

But we're still not allowed to call a spade a spade and say that it's a flop.

What would you say is your most played game ever?
Definitely Minecraft, only game I play. I've probably sunk over a 1000 hours into that game.

UK General Election 2024
So an interesting development today as Rishi Sunak fires the starting gun on his election campaign with the slogan "Who Do You Trust To Keep You Safe?" - arguing that only a Conservatives can keep us safe. It's an interesting tactic and perhaps a sign that he realises he can't fight the election on any of the usual issues as his government is failing on them. A quick scan of reddit and the guardian comments shows no ones buying it.

Gavin & Stacey • The Finale: 2024 Christmas Special
I don't think it's that odd. The shows donkeys years old now and it's probably about time it got a proper closure. Expect it will do very good ratings as part of an impressive BBC Christmas Day lineup (maybe switch EE and CTM round): Something like 16:30 Wallace and Gromit 18:00 BBC News 18:10 Doctor Who 19:00 Call the Midwife 20:00 EastEnders 21:00 Gavin and Stacey

Doctor Who • 2023-
The TV landscape has moved on massively since 2005 - we used to actually sit down and watch telly together as families back then (I was a 9 year old kid who was very excited for the return of the show based on how interested my parents were in it and the trailers I'd seen). The show was also new and exciting, not something that can be said for a show that's now been running for nearly 20 years as a reboot. People don't do that 'watching as a family' thing anymore - especially when the weathers as good it was yesterday - using the momentum that Church on Ruby Road got at Christmas and going straight into the new series in Jan/Feb would have been the much better play as ratings for all shows are slightly higher in winter. The Church on Ruby Road - whilst a decent episode - just confirmed to me that the show's new style had drifted to far from I remember the show being like when I was younger and enjoy the show for. (The first RTD era). That happened during in 13s run and nothing in the specials convinced me RTD coming back was a particularly good reboot. I didn't like Ruby as a character and from the special it looks as though there's going to be far too much focus on her background for me to get invested in the show. I also haven't really warmed to Ncuti Gatwa from the first episode, and I'm not in the business of waiting patiently for things to click anymore given I tried that with 13 and it never happened. I'm marathoning through Who at the minute from 1963, so might just watch these when I do eventually catch-up - in the past I'd have watched the live broadcasts but now I don't see much need or urgency sadly.

Doctor Who • 2023-
It'll add some numbers with pre-transmission and post-transmission for the +7s. However I can't see it reaching the heights of the specials. Personally I haven't watched and have no intention to do so any time soon and I know I'm not alone. Thankfully we've got enough old Who on Iplayer to keep me going for a few more months at least. Personally I think they should have aired it during the winter rather than in late spring/early summer and it might have done better.

UK General Election 2024
Extra resources for campaigning such as 'printed material'. I can't be the only one who thinks the bare minimum for any campaign should be some printed material through the door regardless of the safeness of the seat - I live in a safe Labour seat and we normally still get a pamphlet through anyway. Are the Conservatives not send pamphlets out in safe seats for some reason?
-
UK General Election 2024
A better idea of how the Conservatives reckon the election might be shaping up as they identify 200 seats as vulnerable and offer them extra resources. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/articl...eneral-election

Doctor Who • Space Babies
I'm thinking of holding of on watching any new episodes until I've caught up on my marathon (currently at the end of Classic Who' Season 5). Is there anything in this episode that anybody would say - no, no you need to see this now or can it wait?

I missed last years and never got round to watching it. A shame as I used to love Eurovision. Definitely not watching this years after they've disqualified the Dutch contestant for no good reason.

UK General Election 2024
The centre ground does indeed win in politics. You're correct. All the more reason not accept right-wingers like Elphick into the Labour party fold.
