For some inexplicable reason Beyonce has a writing credit on the Blackbird cover. She doesn't have a writing credit on the Jolene cover.

There doesn't seem to be much of a push from his label to promote his album drop, maybe they're satisfied with the singles successes? You think with the right marketing it could do quite well given the popularity of In The Stars and Beautiful Things and now looking at Slow It Down possibly going Top 40 as well.

It's not it's my mistake I'd already correct that one on my first read through over your post. Just looked through Rodrigo's streaming numbers for both driver's license and good 4 u and there's no 1,251,540 - so it looks like a typo and double up. Probably made after taking a break and going back to that day. I've removed the higher one. The main list should be more accurate now. Thanks for your help again. Cheers for pointing those errors out, I've altered the list to reflect most of them. The exception being the Olivia Rodrigo one - because I'm struggling to work out what's happened there. The song good 4 u wasn't out in January and I've just checked driver's license which was but didn't do a million on that date. I'll have to look into it. So utterly confused on that one. and the John Lennon one because I think this might be an error on your part 'John Lennon should be listed on 25th December 2020 but has been wrongly listed as being 25th December 2020' '

So in other words, I've made a completely useless list strewn with errors. Not sure how there's so many date errors when I went through the charts one-by-one as I added them to the list, but hey ho. Apologies.

There's a difference between fair criticism of an artist whose never going to read it and unnecessary criticism of a fellow poster trying to do something they thought might be of an interest to other posters.

I mean it just didn't occur to me to combine streams, but as you've said it'd be hard to do it anyway as there will inevitably be occasions where one version isn't in the top 200. I think we can just accept that most listeners will be listening to the most streamed version and the general statistics are good enough if not perfect. I'm most interested in when we'll get a song that hits over 3m. I reckon it'll be this Christmas but we'll see.

A grown up person doesn't come into a thread just to diminish someone's hard work, you could just keep quiet. We're you never told 'if you've nothing nice to say keep your mouth shut?' I'm not throwing a tantrum. I put a fair bit of effort into creating that list (and it took a lot longer than three minutes and your unnecessary 'fix' would take a lot longer than three minutes as well). The list isn't flawed just because you disagree with the methodology, it still has merit. I did search and couldn't find anything.

Well if you're that bothered about being precise you give up a significant chunk of your time to find what you consider to be 'not useless' stats. Or you could just not comment on the thread rather just deriding the information posted and my efforts. You're being quite rude. The daily thread doesn't combine, do you consider that to be useless too?

It's obviously the streams for the most popular available version of the track as is shown on the source. I thought the data as it is was interesting enough to share as it is. I don't have the inclination or think it's necessary to start faffing around looking for less popular versions further down the chart and combining streams.

I was looking at todays numbers rather than yesterdays. I'll put my hand up to being wrong on that one.

For total streams not per track. You keep quoting this stat without the context it's a 27 track long album. That's almost double most other artists albums, it's play count is artificially inflated by that which you seem unwilling to recognise.

I'm not moving any goalposts - I posted the Top 10 daily streams for singles list of what I consider 'insane success' much earlier in this thread. It's singles that matter not albums in the 21st century. Beyonce has been successful with this album by her standards - I'll accept that. She has after all done more than her last album streaming wise. However that doesn't make it insane success by general standards. Plenty of albums have done similar or better per-track streaming numbers including Ariana Grande a few weeks ago.

It's more logical than looking at album streams when we're discussing her status as a pop star - where singles matter more than albums. She's not doing the Spotify numbers you'd expect for a supposed superstar. To classify a track as a outright success on Spotify I'm looking for at least 1m streams - yes I know it's a high bar but it's been done on a number of occasions (including relatively recently by Dave and Central Cee, Miley Cyrus and Harry Styles). Beyonce is nowhere near that league with her numbers. I'd have expected the Miley Cyrus duet to at least threaten those thresholds but it hasn't. You might want to re-read the second half of the post your quoting which addresses what you've just said about the album tracks. She's doing fairly low streaming numbers on a per-track base compared to her other big pop stars.

Spotify has updated. Beyonce only holding the top spot for 1 day before Benson Boone returns to the top with Beautiful Things. Real chance he stays at No 1. Every Beyonce track down position wise on yesterday. Artemas in the top 5 is good to see though - looking like a contender for No 1 in a few weeks time.

We seem to be disagreeing on what the important statistic is here. Total album streams are going to be high when you release a 27 track album, I'm more interested in the streams for the lead single and there's definitely more than one artist whose bettered Beyonce's 650k daily streams on Spotify. Looking deeper down the top 50 most of Beyonce's tracks have been streamed around 170k times. That's far lower than Taylor Swift or Adele's album releases, yet for some reason people are trying to argue this is on par.

They aren't that fantastic when it's being lauded as this sort of second coming of a female pop Jesus. The media narrative around this album really doesn't fit the reality. You think back to Adele or Taylor Swift releases and they blocked up the top end of the chart, whilst Beyonce's tracks are in the Top 50 plenty of other songs are doing more streams than them. In a few weeks when Taylor releases we'll see what pop domination looks like.
