I don’t get why people are thinking the girls ‘chart topping’ days are over. The fact they’re still together after 8 years is amazing, if girl groups history is anything to go by - usually by now they would’ve split up or had a change in line up.I remember similar posts back in 2013/2014 after Salute was released. Move didn’t perform too well and people thought they were heading towards the end...
Then Black Magic and Get Weird were released, creating fantastic momentum which carried on through the Glory Days era.
WLM had a very good run, it was #2 for several weeks and that was only 8 months ago. I know the album didn’t do amazing, but I think the split from Syco didn’t help.
The girls will be fine. I did think Bounce Back would perform better than it has done, but some songs just don’t connect well.
That's the thing... the LM5 era was very reminiscent of the 'Salute' era, and they needed another 'Black Magic' to get the GP back on board. This is just so far removed from anything they've done before, and while I think it's a fun track, it was obvious from the minute the snippet premiered that it wasn't going to appeal to the masses. It's too... obnoxious.
I'll never understand the revisionism with 'Move'. It did very well. It sold 80k+ in the first week and spent 12 weeks top 40, which was nothing to scoff at in 2013 (longer than 'Wings' did).

Yikes. At the risk of sounding overly negative, I’d say this is pretty much done already, no? It’s had massive levels of exposure: video/song both on Hot Hits (which makes its Spotify performance honestly quite embarrassing), video upon release, TV promo, and instant A-listing on R1 (plus Capital are back on board and giving it regular rotation). It never bodes well when a song gets this level of support off the bat and still underperforms.
I’m sure with the right song (this certainly ain’t it... as much as I bop to it from time to time) they could still get things back on track, but it’s kinda alarming how much their star has faded this past year.

Bounce Back isn't bouncing back on Spotify. Down to 26WLM (and Touch) aside, it's frustrating how much they struggle on streaming.
Think it's safe to say this won't be a particularly big hit for them since there's nothing left to really propel it up the charts. I'm hoping it at least has a healthy chart run.
Edit: debuted at #10. Glad it held on after all.

It's on A i think which is their lowest daytime playlisting, which is fine for now. Gets about 3 daytime plays. H gets 4/5 and S gets 6 or 7.
They're back on board which is what's important.
Scream at Debbie starting this hashtag when 'A' is the lowest. Mission accomplished... I guess?
(It's cute that she cares so much, but trying to mobilise the mixers into spamming Capital is a little obnoxious).

Sorry, but these games looks awful.
The level of backlash GameFreak has been receiving after the cut Pokemon reveal is kinda unprecedentent for this series, but I must say, I'm glad they're finally on the receiving end of criticism. I've felt Pokemon fans at large have been wayyyy too lenient in the past, especially after the absolute shitshow GameFreak have consistently served with XY, SM, USUM and the worst offender, Let's Go. ORAS was the best of the 3DS era, but that was predominantly due to how amazing the original games were -- and even then they butchered key aspects like the Battle Frontier. I've been replaying Platinum, Heart Gold and Black 2 recently, and the absolute nosedive in quality the series took after the transition to 3D is honestly quite startling.

Welp. Anyway, this is definitely a grower. I already like it much more today and the chorus is super catchy. The hook and breakdown are crazy infectious. It really seems to be a song that'll rely on repeated exposure to get people on board; I can already see the tide turning slightly with the reception towards it.
Honestly, it's partly the reason Capital's snub is frustrating me so much. They tweet about Little Mix constantly, so they seemingly have no qualms using them for clout -- hell, they're literally in their cover pic. The girls even went on their breakfast show to premiere the single and they still won't give it a few spins. I just find it so bizarre that a label change can freeze them out of the playlist entirely, especially when they've previously been their biggest supports (they even spammed 'Little Me'). Whatever the issue is, I hope it's resolved soon, because this is such a crucial release and I can really see a lack of Capital airplay denting its performance.

Damn this only debuted at #17 on UK Spotify. I'm actually shocked that it's opened so low considering the amount of Spotify support. It will debut top 10 but wont debut top 5.
Yeah, was expecting a little better, not going to lie. Especially since WLM debuted at #5. I suppose that had the comeback hype on a bigger scale tho.
The Capital snub is really worrying. I hate label politics.

I feel like this is going to be a top 3 debut for them, it sounds like lame promo but The One Show can provide a huge boost and the Spotify and radio support is insane.
Capital have only played it once this morning and nothing since, which is a little...concerning after the TAU snub. They gave WLM a spin earlier instead.

The video is incredible. I wish it was for a better song.
This single is going to be massive isn't it?
With any hope. Regardless of everyone's feelings (/disdain) regarding the song, I think we can agree that this single is absolutely pivotal at this point in their career. They need this to be a hit after LM5's performance.
Fantastic news re the video being added to Hot Hits. I'm incredibly impressed with how RCA have handled this release.

The video looks kinda' iconic. I'm perched. Hope it contains choreo like rumoured!
I knew this single would be polarising from the snippets, but I thought it'd be a bit better received after hearing the whole song. It reminds me of the initial reaction to 'Strip' on here, so hopefully it'll at least grow a little. I imagine the video will help.

Wait at this actually kinda popping off? The breakdown is still there but it’s not nearly as obnoxious as the snippet would have you believe. The sample works incredibly well and probably sells the entire song for me. Their harmonies.
Not my favourite from them by a long shot but also not nearly as bad as I was fearing.

Highest charting solo single since Roar
I never got the whole 'solo' distinction. I guarantee no-one's buying 'Dark Horse' on the basis of Juicy J's middle 8.
Still, fantastic debut after last era and especially impressive given how limited the initial Spotify support was. Can easily seeing it going top 10 next week.

Promo does barely anything. They need a better song.
Can they stop forcing this on the public and spend their effort on a song that actually has a chance of catching on? The more they push this, the worse it’s going to reflect on them when it inevitably flops.
Edit: didn’t mean the vomit face in the post header. Altho... kinda apt.
