hinterland

:hi: all, aware I can't enter until this time in two months but I thought I may as well sign-up in advance. this looks like a lot of fun! country name: Hinterlandia (my username would probably do for a country name on its own but the -ia gives it a bit more flair lol) capital city: Immateria (aka the SOPHIE song minus an a, again very inventive ) very much looking forward to participating

I wouldn't think City's reign of complete dominance will continue for much longer (not that it's totally one sided, Arsenal were very unfortunate not to come away with the title this season..) - the likes of De Bruyne, Silva & Walker will inevitably start to decline in a few years, and others such as Kovacic, Doku & Grealish don't strike me as the type to have 10+ year tenures at the club like many end up with at City. I think next year's title race will be much more open - this has very much been a transitional season for Liverpool/Spurs/Chelsea/United... all will mount a much stronger challenge next season without doubt.

pleased to see Chels end the season in 6th, I’m sure we would have comfortably been 4th had we not had the unprecedented injury crisis. hoping for a stable squad over the summer (though if anyone wouldn’t mind seeing Enzo & Chilwell depart), I’ve high hopes for next season. & of course another well-deserved title for City. if Palace can keep Mitchell, Wharton, Eze & Mateta (which I think is more likely than most think) I could see them mounting a challenge for Europe next season.

Joost freefalling is heartbreaking, I can’t help but feel like it would have really took off had he been allowed to perform :(

+5 Artemas - i like the way you kiss me +4 Tommy Richman - MILLION DOLLAR BABY +3 Sabrina Carpenter - Espresso +2 Post Malone feat. Morgan Wallen - I Had Some Help +1 Taylor Swift feat. Post Malone - Fortnight -1 Shaboozey - A Bar Song (Tipsy) -2 Kendrick Lamar - Not Like Us -3 Dasha - Austin -4 Benson Boone - Beautiful Things -5 Hozier - Too Sweet frustrated to miss out on last week's reshuffle as I've just realised my votes would have allowed Artemas to reach #1 for the first time! never mind

its primarily gaining popularity because it’s a catchy, well-produced song + I wouldn’t say there’s anything to suggest that the general public haven’t always liked breakup songs from artists in the public eye? certainly wouldn’t say it’s the sole reason for its popularity…

‘Europapa’ climbing :dancing:

It’ll be interesting to see who ends up at #3 - Tommy or Post.

exactly what I was trying to say. obviously ‘TTPD’ has been an absolutely stratospheric success for Taylor, no taking that away from her, but I was expecting the record to have a long-lasting top 3/5 hit in it (‘Anti-Hero’ level of popularity). not trying to diminish her achievements at all :,)

if you’d told me Taylor’s highest song from ‘TTPD’ would be as low as #8 three weeks after release I’d have been shocked!

catchy tune! surely this would be best suited to either the pop or indie forum than R&B/hip-hop, though?

new Post Malone song sounds like another song destined for the top 10 soon enough

here for Jadon Sancho going from being exiled from the Man United squad to lifting the Champions League in the space of 6 months :heehee:

(seemingly unlike most people) I adore 'I LUV IT', and I'm also obsessed with Lil Nas' current collab with Kevin Abstract, so this has all the makings of being another favourite of mine! excited.

‘MILLION DOLLAR BABY’ coming for #2 a week on Friday? :0

it would be cool to see two new entries from Kendrick in the top 10! not sure if he'll manage it though. if 'meet the grahams' and 'Not Like Us' had a full 7 days of sales he might have ended up with 3 in the top 20!

Tommy Richman's 'MILLION DOLLAR BABY' climbs one to #4 (synth funk + jersey club =), and Pixey's track of the same name, last week's #1, slips to #5. two more new entries in this week's top 10 - Kevin Abstract (of BROCKHAMPTON fame) delivers his best solo song in years with Lil Nas X and debuts at #6 with 'Tennessee', while former label-mate Dominic Fike's lighthearted 'misses' comes in at #7. Chappell Roan, Fontaines D.C., and Camilla Cabello round out the top 10. further new entries come from English Teacher with 'Broken Biscuits' from their first full-length release 'This Could Be Texas at #15, and Pozer's 'Malicious Intentions', follow-up to the vicious 'Kithcen Stove' at #16. current UK #1 'espresso' by Sabrina Carpenter, which has proved a grower for me, enters at #19. new entries propping up the lower end of the top 30 are SWIM's 'Never' at #26, Djo's 'End of Beginning' at #27 (technically a re-entry if my chart dated back further), Anish Kumar's 'Everything Blooms Around Her' at #28, and the sparkling synth-pop banger 'Neverender' by Justice & Tame Impala at #30. see you next thursday, and thanks to those who commented on last week's chart ^^

'meet the grahams' is INSANE - arguably the greatest diss track ever made, I've never heard anything quite so personal and scathing. it's hard to imagine Drake showing his face in the public eye again after this.

finally got around to listening to this, ‘Never’ and ‘Reborn’ in particular are stunning 🤩 some of the synths remind me of George Fitzgerald, only a good thing ofc

that ‘MILLION DOLLAR BABY’ song is great, a very good modern interpretation of Memphis Rap - it sounds like it’ll be a top 5 hit at the very minimum!
