those Beirut-esque horns in the second chorus really make the song for me, sets it aside from your run of the mill indie folk track ^^

voted! definitely the strongest final I've voted in so far <3

I am over the moon to see this at #1, genuine contender for my song of the year and harks back to some of the best indie-folk records of the last 30 years ('In The Aeroplane Over The Sea' by NMH, 'Gulag Orkestar' by Beirut etc.) genuinely surprised to see such a well made alternative song at #1 !!

'Sailor Song' reaching #1 :cheer: best #1 of the last 10+ years can anyone remember the last pure indie-folk #1 we had?

'Sailor Song' for #1 pls x best #1 of the year decade if so !

this is superb ! 'Drone:Nodrone' is a particular highlight :music:

I was expecting 'APT' to fly to #1 after it debuted, surprised to see it stall somewhat !

1 ☢ Suedeonia ☢ Lightheaded - Mercury Girl 2 ☢ Tartford ☢ Gemma Ray - Fire House 3 ☢ Zanmatony ☢ Magic Affair - Energy Of Light 4 Q 5 ☢ Jadakissnia ☢ moonvampire - cigarette burns 6 Q 7 Q 8 Q 10 Q 12 Q sad to lose so many of my votes, but delighted to have a second finalist <33 thank u all that gave points to 'Lose Myself'. also chuffed to see GY!BE and Geordie Greep go through in semi 2, taste prevails x EDIT - had a chat with one of the guys from Editors on sunday night at my local bar RE: them being entered into an online music competition, I suppose I now have to break the news to him that they didn't get past the semi's :kink:

voted ! extremely strong semi especially on the moody electronic side of things (which hopefully works in my favour), there were 15 songs I wanted to give points to!! only 2 songs under 5.9/10 (one of which being 2.3/10 )

5 Gigi Perez - Sailor Song 4 Chappel Roan - Hot To Go 3 Gracie Abrams - I Love You I’m Sorry 2 Sabrina Carpenter - Taste 1 Rose & Bruno Mars - ATP -1 One Direction - Story Of My Life -2 One Direction - Night Chances -3 Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars - Die With A Smile -4 Sonny Fodera, Jazzy & D.O.D - Somedays -5 KSI feat. Trippie Redd- Thick Of It

agree that Gracie is the musical equivalent of watching paint dry but 'Sailor Song' is literally the best song of the year!! -_-

I don't know what I was expecting but this is really bland :(

 really underwhelmed with this, doesn't sound like much of a hit either

I can't believe it looks like 'Sailor Song' will get to #1! completely unlike any song I can recall reaching the top 10 in my lifetime, sounds like a Fleet Foxes or Beirut song with a little Neutral Milk Hotel sprinkled in

'Sailor Song' at #1 is insane, if it gets to #1 officially it'll be the best number one since I started following the charts in 2011 *_*

my semi looking super strong! Joanna Newsom, Caribou, Father John Misty and Djrum  going to be hard to choose a 12 it seems ~ excited to listen to that Godspeed song from semi 2, too, I presume it's from the new album of which I am yet to hear. I'm not super keen on the Geordie Greep solo record tbqh but it's still nice to see him pop up as I am a big black midi fan  also :o @ Editors showing up here - fun fact I quite often see a few members of the band drinking in my local craft beer bar :D

what a bop ! surely this will be #1 within a few weeks (but please let 'Sailor Song' have a week or two first xxx)

like you whenever someone says they don't like Taylor Swift then :heehee:

15 female-led songs in the top 18 is crazy :cheeseblock:

hoping that 'Sailor Song' climbs to #2 tomorrow - seems like the type of track that will benefit from Sunday streams

obviously rescheduling because of the new Craig Revel Horwood album x

I think it's quite good, definitely not as egregiously bad as some on here have been making out of late !

excited to see where Geordie Greep debuts, my local record store sold out of it on vinyl by midday yesterday which hopefully bodes well

fixed it for you x

I have voted x sorry for my inactivity throughout this month's competition, been a very stressful few weeks juggling work and family-related things. managed to find a few hours this morning to have a (very enjoyable) listen-through (ty Lindsey for the slightly extended deadline !!), very much looking forward to properly taking part next month
