  1. Easy distraction was co-written by Brandon Flowers!
  2. This appears to be a Vegas themed song to celebrate their first residency, based on the topic / sound and promo material - like U2’s ‘Atomic City’. More likely this than any new era / album.
  3. It's interesting isn't it. 'Fire in Bone' and 'Dying Breed' were never sent to radio, were more instant grat songs or promo singles I believe, in the same way 'Wonderful Wonderul' and 'Some Kind Of Love' were from the Wonderful Wonderful album but they don't make the list. Whereas 'Blowback', from ITM, not on the list, was sent to radio. 'Quiet Town' from PM has a music video and was sent to radio in the US at least. But yes agree the Wikipedia list is the best to go with! Just find it interesting what does and doesn't count as a 'single' today.

Some strange choices.

Is it widely known what % streaming market share is between Spotify, Apple and Amazon?
  6. From what I've gathered, the choice was heavily influenced by two things - - What was on the first GH, thinking those songs already got a chance to shine so trying to give others (Jenny over Smile, no Shot At The Night). - A desire to shine a light more on the newer songs, which they feel haven't got as much attention and they rate them. I'm just sad they scrapped the planned EP for this release so we only get two new songs rather than 5 or so.

Not really. Very quiet. They announced this as 'the first single from their 8th album', and said there would be multiple singles to follow that year (2022!). Then they mentioned maybe just an EP, then nothing. My gut feeling is the tour knackered them and they didn't want to rush into it again so are taking their time on the album. Hope they weren't disappointed this song didn't take off more.

Bit of a long shot, but does anyone know if/where there is an archive of UK airplay charts? Preferably as far back as 2004. Or a near equivalent?

Ah ok, I got prematurely excited!

Capital and Heart played this today. Never thought I’d see the day! Really hope this can be something for them.

It’s brilliant! So fresh, energetic and electronic - Stuart Price did a good job on the production. It was actually written July ‘20 just when their tour was cancelled after covid hit. It lead to Pressure Machine, as it’s the song that took Brandon back to his childhood in Nephi, Utah. However, as Pressure Machine evolved they really wanted to see it through as a tightly coherent concept album, so held boy back for the next record.
  12. I heard Quiet Town wasn’t pushed and was played a bit spontaneously and then more Triple A stations took it on. But who knows! My theory is the US label nominated no single so the U.K. label has gotten fed up and gone ahead and sent this to radio! Good choice I think.
  13. You say ‘next’… has there been an actual single yet? R2 certainly haven’t playlisted anything before and I think Radio X, absolute etc have just been choosing to play ‘In The Car Outside’ without it being a single.
  14. I tried this in the chart rules thread but no luck! Does anyone here know? Killers latest album Pressure Machine is available on streaming and digital download as both a standard version and an ‘abridged’ version. The standard version has these little interviews or ‘interstitials’ before most tracks. So it’s longer, and the tracks have different durations between the two versions. Can anyone confirm these two will definitely be combined in the U.K. albums chart and total sales etc?

Thanks for the info!! I hadn’t really seen it on here and it doesn’t appear on the award levels part of the Brit certified website, you can’t search by that award level and it seems to never appear on wiki discographies so wasn’t sure what happened!

Whatever happened to that Bronze certification for first albums? I heard about it years ago but have seen no mention since!
  18. I thought pre-orders were added on day 1, unfortunately? I remember ITM had *huge* numbers on the monday mids (40k maybe) because of all the pre orders for the pre sale tickets then the final figure was 50k.
  19. Fascinated to see what this sells given the complete lack of single / music video and the quite short time from announcement to release by their standards. My money is on ~25k… wonder how that will compare to Kanye’s downloads/streams if he releases.
  20. Also of note all the new tour dates for *2022* are being branded the Imploding The Mirage tour not the pressure machine tour. They have also said they have been already working on the 8th album. So my take is this is a passion project concept album, apparently quieter and more restrained than usual and they are releasing it as a whole album for that reason - like AM did with Tranquility, possibly releasing a single only when the album debuts. Tbh it seems like a bonus lockdown album, which I think for that reason might be their most interesting yet. Commercially though don’t have high hopes with this strategy.

Killers snubbed by Grammy’s and now Brits! 2nd or 3rd fastest selling album of the year, high critical praise, all 15 years into their career and not even a sniff at international group.
  22. j80 posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
Has there been any indication as to whether they'll bring back International Group? Think its highly unfair they kept int'l male and female but excluded people from the chance of a Brit because they're not a solo aritst

Thanks for clarifying - I was lost on that one. Says a lot that you need basically need a degree in it to understand the chart rules these days.

Sorry if I've missed an answer to this - I've been trying to find one. "Official Charts will take the 12 most streamed tracks from the standard version of the album, the top two songs will be down-weighted in line with the average of the rest." Why does it specify standard version of the album? Does this mean if, say, the standard version has 10 tracks and the deluxe 12, those extra two songs do not count toward album sales?
  25. Do you not think Dying Breed is better suited to be the third single proper?
