  1. UK TOP 100 SUMMARY & REVIEW 27.12.24 #13 THE TOP TEN: At 10 Elton 'Steps Into Christmas' with a huge sales boost, at 9 'Do They Know It's Christmas' jumps into the top ten. 'Santa Tell Me' doubles in sales to 8, and Clarkson is 'Underneath The Tree' at 7! The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl tell a 'Fairytale of New York' as they soar to 6; Bobby Helms does a 'Jingle Bell Rock' up to 5, and Brenda Lee repeaks at 4 with 'Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree.' Tom Grennan achieves a new peak of three with 'It Can't Be Christmas' as Mariah Carey is up to 2 with 'All I Want for Christmas Is You,' and gaining the number one single to end 2024 and getting their 10th week at the top spot is 'Last Christmas' by Wham! NEW ENTRIES: 92 - Driving Home For Christmas - Dasha (5.5/10) Released as a Spotify single, the naturalness of the guitar and the country-pop Christmas flow well as a remix and a cover. I prefer the Chris Rea version over this, but this is still decent; it's quite hard to mess up these kinds of songs. 89 - Here Comes Santa Claus - Gene Autry (5/10) The 1950s Christmas-country song charts for the first time but fail to sound like anything different from the classic Christmas songs of their time. I mean, what do you expect? This was just boring for me. 84 - Hallelujah - Pentatonix (5/10) This sounds like some snooze church choir song, but there's a claim that people think this is about s*x and not a Christmas song; whether it is or not, I'm not going to go into that... The song has the group members sing over the song, which definitely has nothing to do with Christ (What's with modern media taking Christian stuff and turning it non-Christian?). Anyway, the rhythm goes faster, and they match quite well to it with the high notes and the more allegro pace; it's just not that special for me. 77 - Merry Christmas (Please Don't Call) - Bleachers (5/10) The piano and Jingle feel blurred along with the male front voice, and it's just something that fades quickly and doesn't do a good job. It's supposed to be a melancholic indie pop ballad, though it just fails to get me in the mood that it tries to. 71 - Mele Kalikimaka (Merry Christmas) - Bing Crosby (6.5/10) Mele Kalikimaka (Hawaiian for Merry Christmas) is a song recorded with The Andrew Sisters written back in the late 1940s that embodies the old seasonal spirit that I love! I love listening to older music that has that feel, and this has exactly that! Its groove is just great! 70 - Christmas Time Is Here - Vince Guaraldi Trio (5/10) Featuring in the movie 'A Charlie Brown Christmas,' the jazz on this with the piano is what I really like to hear! It's soft, gentle, and peaceful on the ears, which is what I love to hear, and it's fitting of the Christmas spirit. 62 - O Holy Night - Celine Dion (6/10) It's been a while since I've heard the name Celine Dion come up in a conversation; I'm actually glad this has charted too! Celine knows how to make a classic even better, and she has a beautiful powerhouse of a voice! The vocal hold and stability are insane! It really gives off Celine, and that's the most part that adds her twist to it. REENTRIES: 99 - This Christmas - Don Hathaway [This is great!] 98 - Christmas Time (Don't Let The Bell End) - Darkness [it's acceptable... to the decent side.] 93 - What Christmas Means To Me - Stevie Wonder [it's alright.] 88 - When A Child Is Born - Johnny Mathis [i Like This] 87 - Mistletoe And Wine - Cliff Richard [Good] 83 - Santa Baby - Kylie Minogue I like it. 81 - Together This Christmas - Maisie Peters [Amazing... shame I discovered this after Christmas :(] 79 - Cosy Little Christmas - Katy Perry [This is great.] 78 - Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas - Michael Buble [standard] 76 - Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) - Mariah Carey [Meh] 75 - My Only Wish (This Year) - Britney Spears [it's fair.] 74 - Thank God It's Christmas - Queen [i think it's pretty good.] 72 - Christmas Wrapping - Waitresses [sounds like something you would hear in a supermarket in the 1980s.] 69 - You Make It Feel Like Christmas - Gwen Stefani/Blake Shelton [Love it!] 67 - Jingle Bells - Frank Sinatra [Always a lovely classic] 65 - Please Come Home For Christmas - Eagles [Decent] 63 - 2000 Miles - Pretenders [Not a massive fan] 61 - Christmas Tree Farm - Taylor Swift [Great song] 60 - Lonely This Christmas - Mud [Not a fan] 59 - Santa Baby - Eartha Kitt [it's decent.] 42 - White Christmas - Bing Crosby [Good] Notable Changes: Songs that climbed over 10 spots: 57 - Santa Claus Is Coming To Town - Michael Jackson/The Jackson 5 (Up 36) 56 - You're Christmas To Me - Sam Ryder (Up 38) 55 - Under The Tree - Ed Sheeran (Up 42) 54 - Let It Snow Let It Snow Let It Snow - Frank Sinatra (Up 32) 53 - Stay Another Day - East 17 (Up 22) 52 - Santa, Can't You Hear Me? - Kelly Clarkson/Ariana Grande (Up 40) 51 - Mary Boys Child/Oh My Lord - Boney M (Up 29) 50 - Deck The Halls - Nat King Cole (Up 39) 48 - Stop The Calvary - Jona Lewie (Up 24) 47. 4. Mellope's favourite Christmas songs! It's that time of the year folks! Get wrapped up in a blanket, play the tunes, eat the mince pies and be in company :) so I thought what I Wonderful Time (In Christmas spirit ofcourse) to share some of my favourite Christmas tracks! Starting with my favourite Christmas song ever... Rockin Around The Christmas Tree - Brenda Lee Release year: 1958 US peak: 1 UK peak: 4 Released back In 1958 and hitting US number one for the first time in 2023 thanks to the new music video 'Rockin Around The Christmas Tree' is the most remembered out of Brenda Lee's list of multiple number ones, Lee recorded the rockabilly song at only 13 years old! It started building up sales 2 years later at 1960. Why is this the best Christmas track? It has a groove that can make any generation dance and is a timeless classic! It's festive, fun and its old jam makes it a universal hit single! Love it! One song that equally deserves a replay is... You're Christmas To Me - Sam Ryder Release date: 2023 US Peak: Didn't Chart UK peak: 2 Released as a amazon exclusive in 2023 before being added to Spotify in 2024 after featuring in the Christmas movie 'Your Christmas Or Mine 2' the song became Sam's joint highest peaking song in the UK with his Previous Eurovision smash hit 'Spaceman' (Released in 2022) 'You're Christmas To Me' is also Ryder's second Christmas song after 'Jingle Bells' Why it deserves a spot on the list? It's feel good feeling shines like any other and after Sam got robbed from winning eurovision he deserves another shot to hit number 1- which he failed again :( (He's rumoured to take part in eurovision 2024 so possibly a third shot) anyway, back to the point! It's fast paced and correctly paced rhythm is what makes the song something bound to go viral and it was a clear option for a hit! One which should be bigger is.... Snowman - Sia Release date: 2017 US peak: Didn't Chart UK peak: 27 Released as part of Sia's Christmas album 'Everyday Is Christmas' 'Snowman' first charted in 2020 (Three years after released) it ended up proving as a Christmas staple charting in the UK at 2021,22,23 and 2024 and due to its swift climb up this year it's already looking to reach a new peak! Why does I deserve a spot on the list? It has uniqueness and also showcases Sia's talent really well with how long she can hold her voice! It's also something that really sets the mood for a great Christmas! Underneath The Tree - Kelly Clarkson Release date: 2013 US peak: 11 UK peak: 12 Showing up as a Christmas classic, and still being relevant over a decade later 'Underneath the Tree' was the first of many other Christmas songs to Chart for Kelly. The song repeaked in the UK at the week of 6th-13th of December 2024 and could climb to a new peak! It deserves a spot because it has to be the most upbeat Christmas song that gives an unforgettable feel good feeling! All in Christmas spirit! One More Sleep - Leona Lewis Release date: 2013 US peak: didn't chart UK peak: 3 With 47 weeks in the UK charts the X-Factor singer launched herself yet another hit single, this one is timeless. It's festive feel reminds me of 'Underneath The Tree' with it's upbeat pop energy and a very catchy hook. Christmas Drillings - The Sidemen Release date: 2022 US peak: didn't chart UK peak: 3 The second charting Christmas song in the UK 'Christmas Drillings' is a meme-rap song, as much as this is a meme and more of a anti Christmas song it's still funny and very catchy! I'm surprised it hasn't charted again. Sausage Rolls For Everyone - Ladbaby/Elton John/Ed Sheeran Release date: 2021 US peak: 5 UK peak: 1 Hitting Christmas number one 'Sausage Rolls For Everyone' continues Ladbaby's yearlu charity Christmas song, it became Lad's 4th number one single. It has the essence of all three artists packed into one fun Christmas song that all ages can enjoy! I think this is amazing! Merry Christmas Everyone - Shakin Stevens Release date: 1985 US peak: didn't chart UK peak: 1 Officially spending 100 weeks in the UK charts 'Merry Christmas Everyone' became Stevens fourth chart topper and still serves as a radio favourite for Christmas today! Its pop-rock creative sound really worked well for Steven's career and continues to boost his relevancy in music for now and for possibly decades to come! Merry Christmas - Elton John/Ed Sheeran Release date: 2021 US peak: 42 UK peak: 1 A second entry both by Elton and Ed, released through Asylum and Atlantic records. 'Merry Christmas' funnily enough got knocked off number one by a parody song of it called 'Sausage Rolls For Everyone' by Ladbaby after spending two weeks at number one. For me it has a twinkle of hope in the song and really has that Christmas spirit which I love! It's a great accompany to have the two on a song and it showcases them well! As proved because it charts back top 10 every year.

  6. UK TOP 100 SUMMARY AND REVIEW 20.12.24 #12 THE TOP TEN: At #10, Fairytale Of New York takes a small drop. Heading to #9, Santa Tell Me sees a big boost in sales for Ariana Grande. At #8, Jingle Bell Rock slides down, while Messy manages to push past the competition, climbing to #7 despite the presence of Christmas songs. Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree jumps in sales but still slips to #6. Apt sees ROSÉ and Bruno drop one spot, and It Can't Be Christmas by Tom Grennan makes a major leap, climbing 7,000 in sales and landing at #4! Starting the top three is All I Want for Christmas Is You by Mariah Carey, but its sales boost isn’t enough to overtake That's So True by Gracie Abrams, which holds steady at #2. Finally, securing the Christmas #1 spot for the second year in a row—and notching its 9th non-consecutive week at the top—is Last Christmas by Wham! --- NEW ENTRIES: #85 - Indigo - Sam Barber/Avery Anna (5/10) Previous First Listen: Serving as a track from Sam's album Restless Mind, this country song features a guitar-driven beat complemented by drum rhythms. Unfortunately, it doesn’t stand out much, failing to market its own sound effectively. It’s just quite boring and feels lacking in many areas. Second Listen: Still a snoozefest. --- #37 - Freezing This Christmas - Sir Starmer And The Granny Harmers (6/10) This song is a diss track targeting Keir Starmer, standing up for elderly Britons unable to afford heating. It’s raised over £35,000 for charity and topped the sales/download charts. Sampling Lonely This Christmas by Mud, it adopts a slow, older tone that fits the message. While the track serves a good cause, it feels more focused on the parody and message than the music itself. It’s missing something to make it truly their own. --- #31 - Dirty - KSI (3/10) Previous Listen: Dirty is KSI’s latest single, following Thick of It (featuring Trippie Redd) and Low. Rumors suggest the unnamed female singer on this track might be Billie Eilish. The song feels like an attempt to regain fans after Thick of It underwhelmed, but it’s even worse. Sure, it could work as a chill driving song, but it comes across as a cheap imitation of Billie Eilish. Even as someone who doesn’t enjoy Billie’s music, I find this lacking. --- RE-ENTRIES: #99 - MAYBE. - Sienna Spiro [After Christmas, this song is poised for a massive jump... oh boy.] #94 - You're Christmas To Me - Sam Ryder [Legendary!] #93 - Santa Claus Is Coming To Town - Michael Jackson/Jackson 5 [Just shut up.] #91 - Santa Claus Is Coming To Town - Bruce Springsteen [Annoying.] #84 - Push 2 Start - Tyla [i don’t care.] --- NOTABLE CHANGES: Songs that fell over 10 spots: #100: Austin - Dasha (Down 14) #96: Peggy - Ceechynaa (Down 17) #90: 2 Hands - Tate McRae (Down 10) #88: Empty Out Your Pockets - Juice WRLD (Down 27) #79: Burning Down - Alex Warren (Down 11) #74: Bad Dreams - Teddy Swims (Down 52) [HIGHEST FALLER] #73: Squabble Up - Kendrick Lamar (Down 19) #65: The Door - Teddy Swims (Down 46) #64: Ma Meilleure Ennemie - Stromae/Pomme (Down 13) #39: What Is This Feeling - Cynthia Erivo/Ariana Grande (Down 10) --- Songs that rose over 10 spots: #86: Let It Snow Let It Snow Let It Snow - Frank Sinatra (Up 14) #80: Mary's Boy Child/Oh My Lord - Boney M (Up 16) #75: Stay Another Day - East 17 (Up 20) #72: Stop The Cavalry - Jona Lewie (Up 15) #71: Run Rudolph Run - Chuck Berry (Up 13) #66: Holiday Road - Kesha (Up 19) #62: Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas - Frank Sinatra (Up 13) #59: Christmas Lights - Coldplay (Up 12) #57: Santa Baby - Laufey (Up 25) #54: DJ Play a Christmas Song - Cher (Up 19) #53: Mistletoe - Justin Bieber (Up 11) #33: Merry Christmas - Ed Sheeran/Elton John (Up 12) #30: Merry Xmas Everybody - Slade (Up 13) #18: Wonderful Christmastime - Paul McCartney (Up 10) --- BEST AND WORST PICKS: NEW ENTRIES: BEST: Freezing This Christmas WORST: Dirty OVERALL TOP 100: BEST: The Door - Teddy Swims WORST: Peggy - Ceechynaa --- NEXT WEEK'S PREDICTIONS: Possible new entries from Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, and Katy Perry.

  8. I know, I posted this week's chart summary :)
  9. US HOT 100 3.11.24 SUMMARY & REVIEW #10 THE TOP 10: 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' is the highest Christmas entry, up 6 spots to 10! Kendrick Lamar is new at 9 ('Man At The Garden') and 8 ('Reincarnated'). 'Die With A Smile' is down 5 spots to 7 for Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars. 'A Bar Song (Tipsy)' falls off number one, down to 6. Kendrick and Dody6's 'Hey Now' is new at 5. 'Wacced Out Murals' sees Kendrick see at 4. Lamar and SZA's 'Luther' enters at 3. Kendrick Lamar and Lefty Gunplay's 'TV Off' debuts at two, and entering straight in at number one from his new album 'GNX' is 'Sqaubble Up' by Kendrick Lamar, bagging his third US number one of 2024 and third week atop the chart in 2024, as he has 7 out of the top 10 songs belonging to him! NEW ENTRIES: 98 - Gang Baby - NLE Choppa (3/10) This might be the most sexual song I've ever heard in my life. The lyrics cannot go one line without mentioning something to do with sex. 'Gang Baby' is track 1 from his album 'SL*T SZN' (I'm dead serious... that's the album name). This has a trap beat along with rushed rapping that feels like it could have had better cuts; this is sloppy, and the hook doesn't hook me in... it feels weak. I thought Christmas music was going to block this rubbish from charting, but I guess not. I'm also not trying to get a permanent ban from some of the websites I'm on, so I won't go into the tracks deep dive. 95 - Ma Meilleure ennemie - Stromae/Pomme (7/10) Previous first listen: Even though I don't speak the song's language, I can still tell that it's a passionate song, and I would even call it special; it fits an emotional scene perfectly and has that deepness and passionate side to it that Stromae and Pomme bring out really well! Featuring in 'Arcane League of Legends,' this proves to have some real solid base! 94 - I'm Not That Girl - Cynthia Erivo (7/10) 93 - The Wizard And I - Cynthia Erivo/Michelle Yeoh (6/10) 90 - Dancing Through Life - Jonathan Bailey/Ariana Grande/Ethan Slater/Marissa Brode/Cynthia Erivo (6.5/10) 86 - No One Mourns The Wicked - Ariane Grande/Andy Nyman/Courtney-Mae Briggs/Jeff Goldblum/Sharon D. Clarke/Jenna Boyd (5.5/10) 85 - Hello Miss Johnson - Jack Harlow (5.5/10) Previous first listen: Jack often brings something new to the table that interests me; this is new but certainly not a bop. 'Hello, Miss Johnson' is a flirty song where Jack flirts with Miss Johnson's daughter alongside a medium-paced pitch that aligns with the rest of the song. Added: I upgraded my score by 0.5. Also, I really like the music video to this! 68 - What Is This Feeling? - Ariana Grande/Cynthia Erivo (5/10) 53 - Popular - Ariana Grande (6/10) Previous first listen: 'Popular' followed the same back-and-forth style musical songs do as this featured in the movie 'Wicked.' Cynthia Erivo also gave vocals on this. The song features a wide range of instrumentals and uses them at the correct time, which is impressive seeing how much the vocalists changed their voice. As much as this wasn't bad, I really cannot get into musical songs with acting. The piano and the light-to-strong vocal holds were a good part of the song, though, and the flow sounded correct. 44 - Defying Gravity - Cynthia Erivo/Ariana Grande (6/10) Previous first listen: Ending up as 7 minutes long, 'Defying Gravity' is also on Wicked the movie; it has a mass range of instrumentals and a whole orchestra behind the scenes! It mixes into the scene and sounds like it's blended well... it's just not my kind of thing. 27 - Gloria - Kendrick Lamar/SZA (6/10) Previous first listen: With an alternative R&B kick, SZA's 'Gloria' delves into love and also marks SZA and Kendrick's 6th collaboration together. This ends the album on a slower-moving song that hits the right notes and gives the right laid-back feel to end the album on. It didn't go above and beyond for me, but it definitely was clear and a good move to put here. 24 - GNX - Kendrick Lamar/Hitta J3/YoungThreat/Peysoh (7/10) Previous first listen: Continuing his bold, fearless style, this track brings out the drums with quality soul-rap and showcases this album's style extremely well, once again another song that certainly didn't miss. 14 - heart pt. 6 (7/10) Previous first listen: Continuing his 'The Heart' series, Kendrick mixes his more conversational delivery with emotional rap, which works as a fitting side to the album. The series showcases Lamar's views on life at the moment, a strong song that says a lot. 13 - Peekaboo - Kendrick Lamar/AzChike (7/10) Previous first listen: Bringing in some of that style that sounds a bit like 'Squabble Up,' Kendrick creates a hardcore song that combines Gangsta Funk to create something that has a real flow and creativity to it with a hook that gets stuck in your head within a single listen. 'Peekaboo' doesn't disappoint. 11 - Dodger Blue - Kendrick Lamar/Wallie The Sensei/Siete7x/Roddy Ricch (6/10) Previous first listen: With vocals from Roddy Ricch and other rappers, 'Dodger Blue' continues the sharp lyrics with the 'GNX' album style. The features were well chosen, and this song works well. 9 - Man At The Garden - Kendrick Lamar (7/10) Previous first listen: This poses as a song that makes you think and has meaning to it while fitting into the album structure; it's speaking out and taking leaps and risks to get you to the place you are, which is what Kendrick is doing today still. I admire this, and it makes the listeners think and really builds a new thought that 'Man At The Garden' shows. 8 - Reincarnated - Kendrick Lamar (6.5/10) Previous first listen: Sampling 'Made N*****' by 2Pac delves deeper into meaningful rap music; it starts with a Spanish poem to start the song and moves into a gritty main rap with plucks of a guitar in the background that sound unique and centre it out from other rap songs, with Kendrick continuing his wide range of sounds in his songs. It's safe to say the production level is continuing its peak with the raw, infused voice that is Kendrick Lamar. 5 - Hey Now - Kendrick Lamar/Dody6 (7/10) Previous first listen: With production from 'Not Like Us' producer Mustard, 'Hey Now,' this is very experimental and provides a sound that can't easily be replicated or unheard of. This features vocals from LA rapper Dody 6, who gives a clean, fresh sound at the end of the track that doesn't merge the energies wrongly but instead fits aside Kendrick and runs the rest of the track smoothly. 4 - Wacced Out Murals - Kendrick Lamar (7/10) Starting off with a rough, powerhouse of a song that immediately grabs attention and spreads Kendrick's harsh essence across the track, the track talks about legacy and speaks volumes, which I admire, and the production was bold and made it a great atmosphere to start off 'GNX.' What a wish for better! Is instead of just using the boom-bap beat on the west coast rap, it had more flavour instead of just sharpness. 3. Luther - Kendrick Lamar (6/10) Previous first listen: 'Luther' is a conscious hip-hop/soul song with additional vocals and writing from R&B star SZA. The song follows the traditional boom-bap routes while having a nice landing for both Kendrick and SZA's vocals with strings and a structure that builds the song. The main problem for me is that the song doesn't do too much, though, and just follows a rhythm that doesn't sound like it has enough flavour, especially to be a main track. Nice try, endrick, but you can do better. 2. TV Off - Kendrick Lamar/Lefty Gunplay (6/10) Previous first listen: With its high, well-produced beat by Mustard, Kendrick continues his high, intense energy, as this shows that there's more to come. This is a good track but not an album highlight for me. 1. Squabble Up - Kendrick Lamar (9/10) Previous first listen: WOW!! 'Sqaubble Up' uses the same snippet that started the 'Not Like Us' music video to start this song, and this is an all-round flavour punch that infuses character, something new, and a bit of everything to make this a mega catchy song. It has an old-school swing to it that adds to its catchiness while not making this a radio song but still making this extremely universal to listen to and setting new boundaries in rap music. This is a great follow-up to 'Wacced Out Murals' and really shows a strong point, not just in Kendrick but possibly in this decade of rap. I 100% expect to see this in my most streamed. 10. US HOT 100 17.12.24 SUMMARY AND REVIEW #12 THE TOP 10: 'Sqaubble Up' is down to 10; at 9, 'A Bar Song (Tipsy)' continues dropping. 'TV Off' at 8 and 'Luther' at 7 sees more falls for Kendrick. 'Die With A Smile' is the highest non-Christmas entry and bounces up to 6. Burl Ives 'Holly Jolly Christmas' leaps to 5, and 'Last Christmas' falls a spot for Wham. Heading into top 3 territory, Jingle Bell Rock' is up two spots to 3, and 'Rockin Around The Christmas Tree' has Brenda Lee at 2 for another week! And getting there in the 16th week atop the charts and spending their 69th charting week at 1 is 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' by Mariah Carey! NEW ENTRIES: 98 - Indigo - Sam Barb/Every Anna (4/10) Serving as a track of Sam's album 'Restless Mind,' the country song has a guitar beat and pace filled with drum pounds; sadly, it's not that much of a hit for me and really fails to market its own sound that propels it; it's just quite boring and feels like it lacks in a lot of ways. 93 - White Christmas - V/Bing Crosby (5/10) BTS member V collabs with the late Bing Crosby on a remix of the classic 'White Christmas.' It keeps the original version well while adding someone different to it and something new; it fits well but doesn't really serve as a Christmas staple. 90 - Toxic Till The End - ROSÉ (5/10) Previous first listen: She's following the same basic pop routes of 2024, and this is no different from the other tasteless songs she's been putting out this year. I admit this has emotion to it, but it feels like Taylor Swift from Temu or something that's been done over and over again already... There's no way this is becoming a hit single, and if this was pushed as a single from her new album, I wonder just how bad the other singles will be! Second listen: This is still Taylor Swift from Temu. 87 - Rosones - Tito Double P (4.5/10) Posing as a Mexican party song that really doesn't match the lyrics with the energy, it not only disappoints but feels jumbled up and weird; putting the crazy lyrics with the traditional Mexican trumpets and crunchy vocals equals this, and I feel it really could do better with some spice to the song. 66 - El Club - Bad Bunny (5/10) Previous first listen: This is a song about Bad Bunny simping over his ex with an electronic groove and quick edits in the music video; this is unique, which is something I like, but it fails to get stuck in my head and be something I love. It's alright. Added: The Spanish-speaking singer still doesn't show the single in greatness, and I believe something bigger could've been done with this; rather, it ended up like this. REENTRIES: 99 - Jingle Bells - Meghan Trainor [This is so bad that it charting must be a sign of the end times.] 91 - Burning Down - Alex Warren [still good] 89 - Khe? - Rauw Alejandro/Romeo Santos [it's alright.] 85 - Good News - Shaboozey [it deserves a spot here!] 48 - Christmas Time Is Here - Vince Guaraldi Trio [i could've done without this charting... in fact, I would've preferred that.] 47 - Happy Holiday/The Holiday Season - Andy Williams I like it. 46 - Wonderful Christmastime - Paul McCartney [Decent] 45 - Little Saint Nick - The Beach Boys [still awful] 44 - Santa Baby - Eartha Kitt/Henri Rene and his orchestra [There are so many remixes of this song...] 42 - Blue Christmas - Elvis Presley [Respectable] NOTEWORTHY CHANGES: songs that fell over 10 spots: 96. 12. UK TOP 100 SUMMARY AND REVIEW 14.12.24 #11 THE TOP 10: At 10, 'Underneath The Tree' goes top ten for the first time for Kelly Clarkson, and 'Santa Tell Me' launches Ariana Grande into the top ten. At 8, The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl's 'Fairytale Of New York' leaps into the top ten! Bobby Helms is up to 7 with 'Jingle Bell Rock,' and above that, Tom Grennan's Amazon Christmas special 'It Can't Be Christmas' sticks a solid place at 6. Brenda is 'Rockin Around The Christmas Tree' at 5 and 'APT.' Still has a solid lead on sales at 4, 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' jumps to 3, 'That's So True' slips off number one after its 5-week run and up a spot to gain its 8th number one week is 'Last Christmas' by Wham! NEW ENTRIES: 82 - Santa Baby - Laufey (6/10) Covering the early 1950s classic 'Santa Baby' has a playful twist and makes a good background song for the holiday season. Its jazz-pop is a classic from Laufey and shows her wide range of style in music; it's something that I quite like! 79 - Peggy - Ceechynaa (0/10) Previous first listen: This woman announced she retired, and now she's back... WITH THIS?! I HAVE TO USE ALL CAPS BECAUSE WHAT THE H*LL IS THIS!! This is so bad I need therapy, and I think I've got trauma... This might be the worst song I've EVER heard (genuinely). I don't even want to talk about the lyrics... they were creepily descriptive and sexual and cringey... It's also a song that makes fun of groups that I'm not going to go into... BUT SERIOUSLY THIS HAS NO FLOW, NOTHING. I'm lost for words... Listen to all of it, and you'll know what I mean. Added: Yeah... this is the worst song to ever exist; the noises and lyrics are so awkward. I can't... 72 - Toxic Till The End - ROSÉ (5/10) Previous first listen: She's following the same basic pop routes of 2024, and this is no different from the other tasteless songs she's been putting out this year. Apart from that, we could see Polo G, J.Cole, Glorilla, or Kodak Black possibly make a new entry if they're
  15. UK TOP 100 SUMMARY AND REVIEW 29.11.24 #10 THE TOP TEN: 'Jingle Bell Rock' leaps to 10 for Bobby Helms! Ed and Elton's 'Merry Christmas' rises to 9. 'Do They Know It's Christmas' sees Band Aid take a jump to 8! Surprisingly, 'Defying Gravity' holds up at 7 for Cynthia and Ariana from Wicked. 'Rockin Around The Christmas Tree' is firmly at 6. At 5, 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' is up 5 spots and looks to climb more! 'Sailor Song' slips 2 spots for Gigi Perez as she has a high sales fall. ROSÉ and Mars 'APT.' Climbs on sales but stays at 3. At 2, 'Last Christmas' by Wham is up 4 spots, narrowly missing number one, and at number one for her 5th consecutive week is 'That's So True' by Gracie Abrams, which falls in all categories. NEW ENTRIES: 92 - Under The Tree - Ed Sheeran (4/10) Previous first listen: This is the first Christmas song by Ed, which disappointed; listening to this felt like eating a cupcake and finding out there's no filling inside. This is so tasteless and sounds like something that I've heard a gazillion times, even though I haven't. This was also featured in the movie 'That Christmas,' which must've had bad people picking the songs for the movie. Ed said it's a sad Christmas song to tell the moment people feel alone. I want to be alone while listening to this because I don't want people thinking I like this. Ed... you're one of my favourite artists, but your music keeps getting worse with every release. 88 - Holiday Road - Kesha (4/10) Its repetitive pop style is boring, and this doesn't sound like it fits that Christmassy feel; it feels lacking and like something that has nothing to hook you on but just a cheap replacement to songs like 'Underneath the Tree' and 'Holiday Road.' It isn't a huge failure but is just bad. 87 - Misfit - Juice WRLD (4/10) Previous first listen: Juice's raspy voice works well with the acoustic guitar plucks and the emo-rap/trap background. This is Juice's last album, titled 'The party never dies,' released this week, and it's set to be the last album by Juice after he died from a d*** over**** years back. This didn't hit hard for me or sound like a main single, but it sounds like he tried to make this decent, so I'll respect the effort. 86 - Winter Ahead - V/Park Hyo Shin (7/10) I was pleased with how pleasantly smooth this was and had its wide range of uniqueness with the clicking and the trumpet fitted at the appropriate timings! It's all quite different for a BTS solo member to make, so I applaud exploring boundaries with this; it didn't need to be as long as it was, but I still really like this! Great track! 72 - Run Rudolph Run - Mark Ambor (6/10) I really like Mark trying something different from his previous 'Rockwood' album. With an older style 'Run Rudolph Run' and its guitar strumming to create a faster-paced, chiller atmosphere really worked well with the track! Solid release, and it's the first time I've said that for a Spotify single. 55 - Empty Out Your Pockets - Juice WRLD (6/10) The hype-trap track set to feature in the video game Fortnite featured on Juice's final album, 'The Party Never Ends,' and ended up being neither the best but still better than Juice's average for me. It sets as a track that builds hype, but I doubt it'll last. REENTRIES: 98 - Mary's Boy Child/Oh My Lord - Boney M [First listen and I love this!] 93 - Blue Christmas - Elvis Presley [Respectable] 85 - Christmas Lights - Coldplay [Decent] 80 - DJ Play A Christmas Song - Cher [she did a good job.] 77 - White Christmas - Bing Crosby [so old but good] 75 - Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas - Frank Sinatra [Meh] 66 - Mistletoe - Justin Bieber [i'm getting into this more.] 62 - The Christmas Song - Nat King Cole [it's alright.] 60 - It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas - Perry Como [Go away...] 56 - Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) - Darlene Love [Great song!] 51 - Espresso - Sabrina Carpenter [LEAVE THE CHARTS FOREVER] NOTEWORTHY CHANGES: Songs that fell over twenty spots or more: 100 - I Had Some Help - Post Malone/Morgan Wallen (Down 27) 99 - Sticky - Tyler, The Creator (Down 28) 96 - I Only D**** When I S**** - Nimino (Down 26) 95 - Burning Down - Alex Warren (Down 27) 94 - Move - Adam Port/Stryv/Keinemusik (Down 25) 91. - Heavy Is The Crown - Linkin Park (Down 31) 90 - 365 - Charli XCX (Down 13) 84. Any other songs are unlikely to.

  17. TOP 10 WORST SONGS OF 2024 Tw: Involves some sensitive topics, but I have tried to keep this as appropriate as possible when talking about them. It's that time of the year when my lists come out! This year had a massive dish out of rubbish music, and it can't even be covered in a single top 10! Despite that, here are the top 10 worst songs of the year that you should avoid at all costs. 10TH PLACE - A** On Da Bus - Hitkidd/DaBaby Off-topic from Hitkidd, what a career fall-off this is for DaBaby, and Hitkidd, as the main artist, should know better than to get a children's song with voices that sound like they were modified to sound like children, saying, "A** on the bus go round, round, round." Modern-day rap c**p has really affected our brains like parasites because this is no exception to the brain rot. Seeing the album cover and the title reading 'Hitkidd For President,' I can tell this album is far from good. Seeing how America is going so far, I'm sure a lot of people would vote Hitkidd for president. 9TH PLACE - ICE CREAM RMX - Lil Godd Wow, making jokes about dg a* (only in the music video) and blasphemy 🙄 Of course, when you're this bad at rapping, you gotta stir up some controversy. Half of me is convinced that this is a joke song due to how bad it is, but I feel someone actually tried at this... either way, this is screaming disguised as rap, and apparently, this portrays the struggles of being a dg a*** and that he needs to do m***, and he's close to d****. This is far from an emotional song and one that makes fun of serious, dark times... I'm shocked that this is at #9. 8TH PLACE - The Spark - Kabin Crew This song somehow went massively viral this year and got praised... multiple asylum-seeker children come together to apparently "rap about their creativity," according to Wikipedia. They don't get a pass because they're kids; this is still a whiny song that couldn't even make a kids' bop album. I'm not going to go into the real production elements (it's bad) because they're kids, but I will safely say that this is ear-splitting to the ears and should have never been taken seriously as a song. I went light on them because they're kids, but seriously, just delete this. 7TH PLACE - Karma - Jojo Siwa I had to hold up the comments section to hide the music video because it's so cringe... 20-year-old (now 21) Jojo Siwa sings in a mysterious tone about how she was a wild child and that they always knew it before getting on top of another girl in a questionable way in the music video. Jojo Siwa found fame as a child dancer who sold bows in Walmart and dressed in all pink before starting her gay bad girl era, which gave her TikTok success once again... aaaaand it's dg cp. The lyrics remind me of if she was told in class, "Jojo, write a mysterious story for a presentation," and the lyrics try to be dark but are like a child who can't fully swear, so they use lighter words to emphasise their emotions. Judging by the production and her recent AI covers, it's safe to say that Jojo is tight on money when it comes to her music; either that or she's saving up for Christmas. 6TH PLACE - Women's World - Katy Perry Written and produced by men, one accused of being a r****t, 'Women's World' is supposed to be a strong stand-up anthem for women, as the music video shows women in bikinis, se*ualised, causing backlash. I'm really not surprised this flopped because it really showcases that Katy doesn't know how to make a track for its purpose. This is feminism, folks. I can't believe someone actually wrote all this down and thought it would be good for a music video... Seeing it's from the same woman who wore an upside-down red cross on her at a performance, we already know she's delusional or an attention seeker, but this crosses new territory with its glitchy sound and mainstream pop garbage. 5TH PLACE - A-Town Girl - Usher/Latto This sounds like a song that would be sung at a kid's Christian choir if it was completely clean. I can't even compare this beat... it's worse than industry pop... worse than most rap c**p... worse than 'Baby Shark' and 'Barbie Girl.' It's cringey and a song that should definitely not be track 3 on an album or even on an album. The autotune is painfully clear, and Latto's rapping takes away even more from the song... I can't believe this is actually a real R&B song. 4TH PLACE - I Choose V**lence - Jax Singer Jax, who is known for songs such as 'Hk Tuah,' 'Barbara, Your Husband Is Gay,' and 'Estein Didn't K*** H******' comes back to talk about the fact that bears are apparently much safer than men. She uses "words" such as "cleverer" in the song (That's not even a word). As much as this small-brained individual claims they're trying to make a positive change, every time she gets one piece of criticism after saying the dumbest thing, she rushes to TikTok and records herself crying about how hurt she is. For people who aren't familiar, the "Would you rather pick a man or bear?" trend comes from women saying that men are unpredictable and always a lot more horrible than women. They often compare this to stories about women who have had stuff happen to them, and they say, "It's not all men, but always men," often garnering hundreds and thousands of likes. [i'm describing it in the most family-friendly way I can.] The point is, everyone doing that trend is a delusional person who needs to get their head checked, and Jax is one of them. It's also a poorly written and ragebait track (at least I hope it's bait). 3RD PLACE - HAHAHA - Lil Dicky With the American rapper and comedian who mocks Jesus, takes his clothes off, and creates poor music just for an attempt at a viral moment, I wasn't expecting anything better, and I was right! This is TERRIBLE. He can't write, produce, or have flavour, and apparently, the music video for this cost $1 million... wow, what a waste of money! He's like drill music but somehow more simplified... he can't even have a steady rhythm, and this showcases on his whole 'Penith' album. This is so bad it has to be a joke because I can't believe he's still going from 2015. He's a clout chaser and a crazy man. 2ND PLACE - Jail (Part 1) - Lil Dicky PART 1?! DON'T TELL ME WE'RE GONNA GET A PART 2 OF THIS 😭 Yeah... my ears and eyes need bleaching out after this!!! ASAP. The story of the song is that he shows indecent exposure to an all-age group and ends up in jail, to which—let's just stop it there; it's too bad to mention here. Even if this is comedic, it's not funny at all and frankly just weird. This is a zero-talent song and will always be! There's no need to dive more into the same drill rubbish like 'HAHAHA.' Before we get to number 1, let's look at... DISHONOURABLE MENTIONS THAT DIDN'T MAKE THE TOP 10: Wah Gwan Delilah - One Gotti Man In Finance - David Guetta/Girl On Couch/Billen Ted Grippy - Cash Cobain/J. Cole GYAT - Ice Spice Guess - Charli XCX/Billie Eilish Morning After - Lil Dicky BIG DOG S**T - Lil Mabu/RT BOMB - Kanye West CARNIVAL - Kanye West/Y/TY Dolla Sign/Rich The Kid/Playboi Carti Texts Hold Em - Beyoncé Get it Sexy - Sexy Redd The Whole Kim Petras Album... Whatever That Was Now time for... 1ST PLACE - Let's Go - Jaden Bosjen/David Guetta Previous first listen: This song swears so many times it's like modern-day rap. They picked the most bland, generic beat and the most annoying voices. Randomly stopping the song for a cutscene where a woman is emotionally complaining about the nightclub she's going to doesn't help either. David's career is a joke, and he doesn't deserve the title of #1 French artist in any way. Be ashamed—this is actually one of the worst things I've heard in a while! I don't get how you can mess a song up this bad. I'm dead serious. This will be featured in my worst songs of 2024, and it will contend for #1. [WORST OF THE WEEK] Added: With lyrics such as "I really have to get in and take a ps" and "Who the fk is Jared?" This song, as explained, is a sweary dance song that can't even be enjoyed due to the long cut scenes and the beat that sounds as rubbish as a new starting-out artist. As explained, this could be the worst thing I've EVER heard, so I don't need to rant again, but I can't believe some stations are actually speaking about this as if it's the hottest thing in Ibiza. This is so awful that it feels like my brain is burning after a listen, and David tries to be so professional as the most popular French artist.

  19. Small Changes - Michael Kiwanuka - Mellope album review OVERVIEW: This is definitely a strong point in music! The alternative-indie and the wide range of instrumentals shown in unique lights is what makes me want to listen again; it starts with an amazing song and ends with still a tonne of hope for future releases! The downside is that sometimes you can't hear the lyrics, so the messages can come across blurred, but I don't think this is down to production quality; rather, it's the way the artist sings. Despite that, messages are still being spread throughout the whole album, and it equates to something meaningful. This is a good listen and a break from all the mainstream pumped-out music; the soulful side really shines through too! Give this a listen 100%! TRACK-BY-TRACK REVIEW: 1. Floating Parade (8/10) 'Floating Parade' makes you feel a relaxed, controlled atmosphere that works as a soulful start to the album; Michael's alternative indie uses drum and bass to add to the well-composed feel. The song speaks about seeking comfort in an uncomfortable situation, and it definitely shows this well! As a keen listener of unique music with a feel, this was top-notch! 2. Small Changes (6/10) The electric guitar with the keyboard and drums created a solid pop base to support Kiwanuka's voice, along with the song having a real substance that keeps the album's feel. 3. One And Only (7/10) This once again highlights the genius of Michael, with the guitar and bass creating the gentle pattern across the song. This is well thought out and just skilled. Directed by Barack Obama's daughter, this shows creativity and the album. 4. Rebel Soul (6/10) The catchy repeated chorus is the part that makes this song thrive, along with the wide range of instrumentals and backing vocals. Just like track 2, this isn't perfect, but it fits into the album tracklist well and solidifies itself as a place in the album. 5 & 6. Lowdown (Part I and Part II) (7/10) These parts merged well together and were something that I found quite pleasant, as we live in a world mainly made up of TikTok music. It's good to see real artistic essence here, like the guitar solo and rhythm of the track feeling just right. The lowdown parts are something that has soul and character; this really reminded me of deep, passionate, and well-made music. 7. Follow Your Dreams (6.5/10) This has a very dreamy beat that works well with Kiwunuka, and the production and mixing serve as a strong point with the instrumentals timed correctly and at the right pitch. This is the type of song to sit down and get inspired to, and it spreads the messages as said in the title. Great song! 8. Live For Your Love (7/10) The guitar melody was so unique and catchy; it sounded like something you'd hear in a country setting! The synthesiser worked well, and Michael's voice could've had more emotion in it (just like the other tracks), but the way he sings isn't bad; it fits the meaningful, deep, stylish vibe it's supposed to be, especially with the instrumentals! 9. Stay By My Side (7/10) The light piano and drums with the electric guitar were an interesting choice for a background base to a song like this, but Kiwanaku made it work! It has depth and spreads a message of wanting someone to stay by your side! This follows similarly to the rest of the album while bonding another unique story. 10. The Rest Of Me (6.5/10) This really had the synthesiser put to good use! This is a steady, worthy album track that has a well-engineered sound and is very natural apart from the few synthesiser hints. 11. Four Long Years (6.5/10) With a strong end to the album, 'Four Long Years' has a softer piano and drumbeat to create a lighter tone but with more feel. Kiwanuka talks about someone moving on from love and the fact that it's a shame, and Michael tones this incredibly well; the only negative is that it's hard to understand his words. BEST - 'Floating Parade' WORST - 'Rebel Soul' ALBUM RATING - 7/10
  20. UK TOP 100 SUMMARY AND REVIEW 29.11.24 #9 THE TOP 10: At 10, 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' is up 7 spots for Mariah Carey! 'The Door' by Teddy Swims takes a hit down from last week's 5 to this week's 9. 'Last Christmas' is this week's highest Christmas entry, up 8 spots to 8. Cynthia and Ariane's 'Defying Gravity' from Wicked enters at 7. Kendrick Lamar has new entries at 6 ('TV Off Ft. Lefty Gunplay), 5 (Luther Ft. Sza), and 4 ('Squabble Up'). ROSÉ and Bruno Mars stick at 3 with 'APT.' Staying afloat by less than 1K sales is 'Sailor Song' by Gigi Perez, holding up at 2. And at number one for her fourth consecutive week, still with a massive sales margin of nearly 10,000, is 'That's So True' by Gracie Abrams! NEW ENTRIES: 87 - The Line - Twenty One Pilots (6.5/10) Previous first listen: This was a really good choice for Arcane to pick, and the song was a hard-hitting pop ballad. As someone who has never been fully onboard with the pilot releases, this is one that I thought was simple yet really had a feel to it and was well composed. Added: I still really like this! 84 - Number One Girl - ROSÉ (5/10) Previous first listen: After Rosé got her first hit single from her upcoming album 'Rosie' (out December 6th), she has a follow-up that turns out to be track 1 on her new album. This sadly sounds nothing like her first single, 'APT,' and like most artists, trails off on the second release. This follows more of a ballad style with soul-pop, which isn't bad, but it's the song that is more likely to make newly returning listeners tune out. Also, Bruno Mars is still on this and happens to be a writer and producer. The end story is that this is a light Korean ballad that fails to live up to what it should be and has nothing much to it. 67 - Christmas Magic - Laufey (5/10) 'Christmas Magic' features in the film 'Red One's and is an Amazon exclusive; it adds jazz to it and gives it an old, festive feel, but overall it doesn't touch the magic part of Christmas for me. It feels like nothing new and something that's the same thing resurfaced years later and a poor attempt at making people care. I like Laufey's voice, but it can be used in better ways. 21 - Ma Meilleure ennemie - Stromae/Pomme/ (7/10) Even though I don't speak the song's language, I can still tell that it's a passionate song, and I would even call it special; it fits an emotional scene perfectly and has that deepness and passionate side to it that Stromae and Pomme bring out really well! Featuring in 'Arcane League of Legends,' this proves to have some real solid base! 17 ‐ What Is This Feeling - Cynthia Erivo/Ariana Grande (5/10) 13 - Popular - Ariana Grande (6/10) Previous first listen: 'Popular' followed the same back-and-forth style musical songs do as this featured in the movie 'Wicked.' Cynthia Erivo also gave vocals on this. 7 - Defying Gravity - Cynthia Erivo/Ariana Grande (6/10) Ending up as 7 minutes long, 'Defying Gravity' is also on Wicked the movie; it has a mass range of instrumentals and a whole orchestra behind the scenes! It mixes into the scene and sounds like it's blended well... it's just not my kind of thing. 6 - Tv Off - Kendrick Lamar/Lefty G*nplay (7/10) Previous first listen: With its high, well-produced beat by Mustard, Kendrick continues his high, intense energy, as this shows that there's more to come. This is a good track but not an album highlight for me. Second listen: I increased my score up to 7! This grew on me a lot more! 5 - Luther - Kendrick Lamar/SZA (7/10) Previous first listen 'Luther' is a conscious hip-hop/soul song with additional vocals and writing from R&B star SZA. Nice try, Kendrick, but you can do better. Added: I once again liked this even more! Score upgraded! 4 - Squabble Up - Kendrick Lamar (9/10) Previous first listen: WOW!! 23. US HOT 100 SUMMARY & REVIEW 26.11.24 #9 THE TOP 10: At 10, 'Love Somebody' by Morgan Wallen stays put; also staying put at 9 is 'Beautiful Things' by Benson Boone. 'Taste' sticks at 8 for Sabrina, and 'I Had Some Help' is still at 7 for Post Malone and Morgan Wallen! 'That's So True' remains at 6 for Gracie Abrams, and 'Espresso' by Sabrina Carpenter dips a spot to 5. 'Lose Control' spends its 67th charting week up a spot to 4 for Teddy Swims. 'Birds Of A Feather' lands Billie Eilish another week at 3, just above that 'Die With A Smile' stabilises for Gaga and Mars, and grabbing his 19th week atop the billboard Hot 100 And 32nd week charting is 'A Bar Song (Tipsy)' by Shaboozey, which becomes the joint longest running US no. 1 in the charts 66-year history. If he gets next week's no. 1, he'll pass 'Old Town Road' by Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus to become the first ever song to get 20 weeks no. 1 and to break the tie! NEW ENTRYS: 97 - Neon Moon - Brooks And Dunn/Morgan Wallen (6.5/10) 'Neon Moon' is a heartbreak country song that is a new version of the 1992 song 'Neon Moon' by Brooks & Dunn. Morgan's atmosphere intertwines with BAD (Brooks & Dunn) nicely, and they both complement each other's vocals. The piano and guitar fit well into the backing structure for the song and add to the traditional country vibe. It's raspy, has character, and as a fan of Morgan Wallen, this team-up does not disappoint! 96: Dejame Entrar - Rauw Alejandro (5/10) 88: Revolu - Rauw Alejandro/Feid (5/10) 82- Se Fue - Rauw Alejandro/Laura Pausini (6/10) 71: Good News: Shaboozey (7/10) Previous first listen: Love to see a more chilled take from Shaboozey while managing to keep a groove that Its stuck in your brain. Shaboozey continues his country songs while adding the amount of time he spends singing a pitch and the way he sings the chorus to really make a noteable difference on this song! The delivery and the emotional touch on the song make this good for any occasion! Really good song! 69, Tu Con El - Rauw Alejandro (6.5/10) 68 AGATS2 (Insecure) - Juice WRLD/Nicki Minaj (5.5/10) Previous first listen: I felt Nicki was cut out more and they could've bonded better, and also that the beat sounded like a quick mix rather than taking the time into the track; it's still not bad though. Previous second listen: 'AGATS2' has backing vocals from Halsey, which add to the song, and the emo side with Nicki Minaj really shows Juice's stronger sides, although this feels like it doesn't show something new or something that brings in new listeners. Juice has 1000s of unreleased songs; his record label could have chosen better. Added: Yeah, once again, I just have the same view on this. 60 - Khe? - Rauw Alejandro/Romeo Santos (6/10) 56: Insecurities - Lil Baby (5/10) Previous first listen: Despite me having my daily dose of autotuned rap rubbish, this is actually decent, surprisingly!! I think the actual sound and the fact that it didn't use the 'boom bap' beat saved the song. What a weird surprise. You get the pass this time, Lil Baby, but this still isn't good. 53: Running Wild - Jin (4/10) Previous first listen: Jin poorly attempts to try and create a song that he thinks will be a western hit; on certain lines he sounds like he's nervous and gives the completely wrong energy. This K pop-rock single is produced by Gary Barlow; I personally don't get how Gary could produce something so Bar-low quality. They add unnecessary autotune to Jin's voice that doesn't even mend the track! Added: Every time I listen to this with the music video, I can't help but think, "How can people actually like this?" 41 - 2 Hands - Tate Mcrae (5/10) Previous first listen: This wasn't bad, but it didn't have the infectious mood that 'It's ok, I'm ok' gave; instead, it fell flat and felt like a weak second song announcement for her upcoming album, which was announced to come out on February 21st, 2025, called 'So close to what,' but '2 Hands' has a beat very similar throughout and lacks the fun, pop era. This is supposed to be bouncy and fun but comes across in a tired way. I don't have much for this; accept that it needs a boost and that this isn't it. It's plain and boring. 34 - Que Pasaria... - Rauw Alejandro/Bad Bunny (5/10) Previous first listen: 'Que Pasaria...' features on Rauw's new album and is a Spanish pop song with Bad Bunny. This for me isn't memorable, but I respect how they are not continuing along the traditional reggaeton and Latin routes that get boring and instead aim for something new; instead, they give their song a pulse that goes outside of the genre's roots. RE ENTRYS: 74. The Emptiness Machine - Linkin Park [Love this! Highlight of 2024] 48: A Holly Jolly Christmas—Burl Ives [Overrated] 47: It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year - Andy Williams [Overrated to] 23. I suspect that next week it'll be a tight race to see if Christmas songs will go top 10 or if Shaboozey can even hold no. 1 ('Die With A Smile' is close to catching that song to). Apart from that, Wizkid has a new album, which could possibly see some new entries. Also, a few foreign artists, such as Manuel Torizo and Quevedo, have dropped albums, which could also possibly make an entry. For the singles releases, expect Ariane Grande, Rosé, Jack Harlow, and possibly Lil Nas X, Tyla, and Jelly Roll (if he's lucky). EXTRA: Sometimes I may skip songs if there is part of a charting album that has a few tracks in the top 100. (Instead, I'll cover the highest chatting entry from the album, or if there's a super high, then the highest.) Peace ✌️

GNX - Kendrick Lamar - Mellope album review OVERVIEW: This album shows a stronger, rougher side of Kendrick with production that's bold, clear, and experimental in ways. This album may show as a step for this decade of rap with some of the tracks, such as 'Sqaubble Up,' which has a Funk side and features multiple pop-R&B segments from SZA as well as from smaller LA rappers. This harsh, gritty, well-layered album shows Kendrick isn't afraid to speak out about what he wants to and that he can still make great music over a decade into his career. I thought this was a real hook for the end of 2024, and Lamar has once again taken the rap industry by storm; this has some memorable moments of the year. I have a lot more to say though in the... TRACK BY TRACK REVIEW: 1. Wacced Out Murals (7/10) Starting off with a rough, powerhouse of a song that immediately grabs attention and spreads Kendrick's harsh essence across the track, the track talks about legacy and speaks volumes, which I admire, and the production was bold and made it a great atmosphere to start off 'GNX.' What a wish for better. Instead of just using the boom-bap beat on the West Coast rap, it had more flavour instead of just sharpness. 2. Squabble Up (9/10) WOW!! 'Squabble Up' uses the same snippet that started the 'Not Like Us' music video to start this song, and this is an all-round flavour punch that infuses character, something new, and a bit of everything to make this a mega-catchy song. 100% expect to see this in my most streamed. 3. Luther (6/10) 'Luther' is a conscious hip-hop/soul song with additional vocals and writing from R&B star SZA. The song follows the traditional boom-bap routes while having a nice landing for both Kendrick and SZA's vocals with strings and a structure that builds the song. The main problem for me is that the song doesn't do too much though and just follows a rhythm that doesn't sound like it has enough flavour, especially to be a main track. Nice try, Kendrick, but you can do better. 4. Man at the Garden (7/10) This poses as a song that makes you think and has meaning to it while fitting into the album structure; it's speaking out and taking leaps and risks to get you to the place you are, which is what Kendrick is doing today still. I admire this, and it makes the listeners think and really builds a new thought that 'Man at the Garden' shows. 5. Hey Now (7/10) With production from 'Not Like Us' producer Mustard 'Hey Now,' this is very experimental and provides a sound that can't easily be replicated or unheard of. This features vocals from LA rapper Dody 6, who gives a clean, fresh sound at the end of the track that doesn't merge the energy's wrongly but instead fits aside Kendrick and runs the rest of the track smoothly. 6. reincarnated (6.5/10) Sampling 'Made N*****' by 2Pac delves deeper into meaningful rap music. It starts with a Spanish poem to start the song and moves into a gritty main rap with plucks of a guitar in the background that sound unique and centre it out from other rap songs. With Kendrick continuing his wide range of sounds in his songs, it's safe to say the production level is continuing its peak with the raw, infused voice that is Kendrick Lamar. 7. TV Off (6/10) With its high, well-produced beat by Mustard, Kendrick continues his high, intense energy, as this shows that there's more to come. This is a good track but not an album highlight for me. 8. Dodger Blue (6/10) With vocals from Roddy Ricch and other rappers, 'dodger blue' continues the sharp lyrics with the 'gnx' album style. The features were well chosen, and this song works well. 9. Peekaboo (7/10) Bringing in some of that style that sounds a bit like 'Sqaubble Up,' Kendrick creates a hard-core song that combines Gangsta Funk to create something that has a real flow and creativity to it with a hook that gets stuck in your head within a single listen, 'Peekaboo' doesn't disappoint. 10. heart pt. 6 (7/10) Continuing his 'The Heart' series, Kendrick mixes his more conversational delivery with emotional rap, which works as a fitting side to the album. The series showcases Lamar's views on life at the moment, a strong song that says a lot. 11. gnx (7/10) Continuing his bold, fearless style, this track brings out the drums with quality soul-rap and showcases this album's style extremely well, once again another song that certainly didn't miss. 12. Gloria (6/10) With an alternative R&B kick from SZA, 'Gloria' delves into love and also marks SZA and Kendrick's 6th collaboration together. This ends the album on a slower moving song that hits the right notes and gives the right laid-back feel to end the album on; it didn't go above and beyond for me, but it definitely was clear and a good move to put here. BEST: 'Sqaubble Up' WORST: 'Dodger Blue' ALBUM RATING 7/10
