The Sick – Bella Kay (8/10) Singer-songwriter Bella Kay gives us an emotional serving of guitar strings and passionate vocals in this song that captures an essence similar to "Go" by Cat Burns. I could certainly see this climbing in the coming weeks. Great song! 62. So Far So Fake - Pierce The Veil (8.2/10) Loving the rock tracks that have been hitting the charts recently, and we yet again have another delight with loud guitars that create a sound like emo music, apart from the fact that they build on the sound better, adding something more artistic with the vocals that sound as if they were live, yet they're so raw and can carry any deep emotion. This sounds a little like Linkin Park, and I'm all for that! 60. Wgft – Gunna/Burna Boy (6.5/10) 46. Forever Be Mine – Gunna/Wizkid (3.8/10) First off, the lyricism and flow together are horrible. Gunna makes words rhyme at the end of every sentence whilst talking about stroking and massages in the most boring ways possible, and Wizkid follows with so many lyrics fitting the pattern that it ruins it. Not like there was anything to save anyway; it's another quick-made cash grab from Gunna. 18. A Little More - Ed Sheeran (7.5/10) I'd 1000% call this the most appealing song from the "Play" rollout so far. It has a memorable guitar riff that is followed by what I believe is a synthesiser used in a part of a loop. It has a partial similarity to some of the smaller English acts (I can't put a name on anyone exact), but if you've heard the song, you'd know that as much as it's good, it's not the most original thing out there. Added: First off, my apology for not building on my previous review in the Hot 100 chart review; I forgot. Now for my review. A smoother R&B song that doesn't feel like it has another flavour; it gives off a little of Ella Mai. 31. Slide Away - Oasis (5/10) I've already gone through multiple times about how forgettable I think Oasis music is, with their Britpop instruments just feeling like any song by them and feeling painfully average in terms of what it does. It's natural, but it's not good, and I've honestly forgotten the other details right after I listened. Skip. 1. The Subway - Chappell Roan (5.8/10) One million times better than "The Giver," but I still can't say this is a showcase of what Chappell can be capable of; instead, it's a calm pop-rock song with occasional high notes from Chappell and doesn't reflect what she usually goes for. I just don't think the simplicity and the dreamy chords helped as much as she thought they would; it's just fine and definitely extremely overhyped by AOTY. RE-ENTRIES: 100. End Of Summer - Tame Impala (5.6/10) [+0.6 score] Previous listen: I just don't know; it's a long song, and nothing stood out to me. Added: As noted before, nothing stands out; it's seven minutes of this pattern of what appears to be synths making small, light noises that tend to be on the brighter side. Nothing here stands out, and it all just feels like a weird release. 85. Strategy - TWICE (4/10) Honestly, seeing that so many songs have charted from the K-pop Demon Hunters soundtrack, I think I may as well review this, and honestly, my score keeps wanting to change, but then I just dislike it again. It's just their usual aesthetic brand of K-pop that's anything but unique. 73. Saiyaara—Bagchi/Kamil/Abdullah/Nizami (8.9/10) ABSOLUTE. BLOODY. MASTERPIECE. The fact that the Bollywood industry has made a UK impact, especially with a song like this, is phenomenal. "Saiyaara" has a strong lead vocal range from the front singer that's backed with lyrics about loving that one person; that in itself is enough to be a great song, especially seeing the amount of character coming from the voice. But to top that all off, they add a guitar riff that screams real rock along with a violin in the end that creates this high-pitched blend of utter beautifulness to end an over six-minute passionate and raw song. This is a must-hear, just WOW. 63. Takedown - Twice (7.4/10) [+0.5 score increase] Love the extra intensity on the "takedown" hook on top of the already fierce K-pop sound; it's truthfully a mark of a beautiful time for Twice, and I think giving something that feels so much like what many BLACKPINK fans crave back was a good step to fill the hole of missing music. 62. Ring Ring Ring—Tyler, The Creator (8.5/10) The phone ringing inserts along with this feel-good funkiness create a partly experimental Tyler-funk that's probably one of his most interesting discography songs, especially for older fans. Great. 51. It Depends—Chris Brown/Bryson Tiller (5.5/10) Previous review: Chris Brown returns to the boring, kind of leisurely pace of R&B that satisfies nobody and leaves us thinking, "Was Holy Blindfold all he had in the tank??" Added: Honestly, like I said before, but I will add in some small additions, there are some nice summer clapsand small details that are nice effects on the song, but in the end this still sounds like something off of "$$$4u." 34. Dealer—Lola Young (8.2/10) Not only the best single from the upcoming album so far but also one of her best songs, and I wouldn't even blame you for calling this better than everything on her last album! It has a sound and lyricism that feels like Lola but strays away from a cringe line, and the sound feels altered to sound different, but that actually gives it more of a live and real sound that complements the song. Great listen. 31. 12 To 12 - Sombr (7.9/10) I was not expecting to hear Sombr on a beat that sounds more like something Lizzo would be on. "12 to 12" has a funky, danceable sound that stays true to Sombr's vocal tone whilst balancing out new fields of music; he definitely didn't play it safe with this one, but he did that in an amazing way. Check it out! 4. Which One—Drake/Central Cee (7.5/10) If you heard and liked "Blue Green Red," then you'll like this; it's just like that but with a Central Cee feature, which he sounds surprisingly decent on. I like when Drake puts on that accent; it gives his music a unique edge that turns regular beats into something special. This is also quite an upgrade from "What Did I Miss." RE-ENTRIES: 46. "Let Him Go" is the duo's second song to chart and continues following the route of DJ dance tunes; unfortunately, the vocal mix and beat feel way too predictable, and it already sounds like something you've heard a million times. 72. 3X - Jim Legxcy/Dave (6/10) Jim Legxcy's verses brought a sad feeling that made me feel like he's at the peak of his career again, like the times of "Nothing's Changed." The song felt beautifully raw, and I was almost crying. UN-BLOODY-TILL. DAVE CAME IN AND STARTED RAPPING IN A ROUGHER TONE ABOUT "the birds and bees" and how she's "thick." WHAT? Are you taking the piss? This was legit going to be a legendary score if it wasn't for that poop stain of a feature. The song just pisses me off every time I hear it now. I hope you're happy, DAVE. 64. Devil In Disguise - Marino (1.5/10) This might be one of the weirdest songs I've covered in my whole time going over the UK chart. The song is only one minute and 45 seconds and sounds like something that was supposed to catch on for social media. The weird part is the lyrics, where the song is basically a narration of a spooky story where the devil is out at night and you better watch out, with lyrics like "He's nice, polite; he'll catch you by surprise. A smile so nice, he's the devil in disguise." Seeing the cover is AI slop, I'm also leaning more towards that this song is more brainrot garbage that had as much thought as the Skibidi Toilet song; I wouldn't even be surprised if it was AI. My question is, why did this chart? It's not like I can't understand the appeal. I just don't get how anyone apart from children could like this, and I don't mean that as an insult; I'm serious. I mean, even outside of lyricism and low-effort output, even the songs vocals just sound AI, and the beat has some guitar as the main focus but feels like it was made to fit the same storyline. This song is the equivalent of if I pretended to be the Grinch and scared children in a song. 58. Sucka Free - Tyler, The Creator (8.4/10) 56. Crazy Train - Ozzy Osbourne (8.4/10) Everything about this song feels so natural yet full of life; every part of the song's journey, the guitar, drums & vocals are just so involved in the song, and the fact that simplicity can be this fine is a showcase of what Ozzy really did. R.I.P. Ozzy Osbourne. 55. Punkrocker - Teddybears/Iggy Pop (8.4/10) Released over two decades ago, "Punkrocker" re-trending due to the feature of it in the movie Superman, and with that we get a rare repetitive jam with occasional funky synths giving the song a nostalgic feel and making it feel like music you'd hear in a slideshow looking through the past, and that's a good thing. 51. All This Time - Sonny Fedora/Jazzy (7.3/10) A fun summer EDM that I think has high chart potential, it has a summery piano along with a house vibe and an upbeat hook. Nothing unusual for the duo, but I still wouldn't mind something similar by them. 50. Out Out—Skye Newman (6.2/10) Seeing her mysterious rise in popularity with songs that felt unfinished, I wouldn't be surprised if this followed that route. This isn't a bad song, but it's nothing more than vocals and piano doing what they always do. 49. Go Baby—Justin Bieber (6.9/10) This felt heartfelt, and whilst it has an appeal of meaning, I think critically speaking this isn't his finest work. I'll take it, though. 46. Sugar On My Tongue—Tyler, The Creator (8.4/10) 43. Big Poe—Tyler, The Creator/Pharell Williams/Sk8brd (9.4/10) I'm sorry... WHAT? The energy on this is INSANE!! Tyler not only needs to start doing more club-rap music, but Pharell needs to produce more like THIS. The electronic funkiness ruled the track with the perfect amount of pitch on the beat, and Tyler's vocals were as clean as the ones on Kendrick's "Squabble Up." The amount of effort to blend all this into a highly calculated and high-effort jam is unreal. Hats off to Tyler; this is possibly the best song to hit the UK charts this year so far. 32. Paranoid—Black Sabbath (8/10) I wasn't so much keen on the timing of Ozzy's vocals at the start, but I got more into it as the song moved on. I also think that the electric guitar going heavier was also a better decision, although I still would've liked it to be a bit heavier. Overall though, I'm basically nitpicking; it's still a great song, and it really does represent real rock. 17. Soda Pop—Saja Boys/Andrew Choi/Neckwav (7.2/10) This song soured on me, but after a re-listen, I'm not too keen on hating this. I mean, when I think back to this song, it sounds like a song a femboy animé would dance to on a Twitch stream, but the whole song itself isn't exactly as cringy-sounding as I remember; it's a little childish, but we can live with that. 3. Eternity - Alex Warren (6.7/10) Alex previewed a snippet of this, and now that I've heard the full thing, it already feels like I've heard it; that's how predictable the song was. I'm not saying it's a terrible song, but it's nothing apart from Alex's usual loud hook and vocals that sound exaggerated for the song's feel.
