Because on the few occasions a British act has something good to celebrate the BBC should be promoting it - it's part of it's remit. It's the BBC not the ABC(American broadcasting corporation). See the long discussions and problems of having the US artists dominate the UK charts with the few exceptions of X-Factor karaote singers.

No Lemar. No Florence and Dizzee. https://www.bbc.co.uk/complaints/forms/ http://www.bbc.co.uk/info/statements2008/radio/radio1.shtml
  3. #2 or #3 Can't catch Helping Haiti with it's physicals I don't think. May not catch Owl City either, although I expect Florence & Dizze to have double pop bars of everyone else sometime over the next 24 hours.
  4. I think you mis-interpret the charts here. There are plenty of tunes that don't make the higher positions of the charts but are discovered over time and sell gradually, exceeding the sort of sales that you see from Florence+Dizzee over the next few days. The reason for the Florence/Dizzee mashup charting high is that many discovered it at once, as it didn't exist before and therfore wasn't available to buy over time.

Do we know if Helping Haiti is selling many physicals? What % approx?
  6. Loads. Many are in Top10 now but have physicals out next week. In addition there is releases from Leona, Chipmonk, Sugababes and several more.
  7. Unlikely, as Owl city are outselling Helping Haiti on iTunes, note the second version of the single in the mid 20's.
  8. Goosh they are! What a big jump in 15 minutes.
  9. So fast can hardly keep up with it!

Premier 3rd of March more likely. It also takes some time for the video to have an impact. Don't get me wrong it will likely be #1 when released in March but not Top10 in the week of death.

It's not about the award, but the performance. Alicia's single increased loads as did the Jay-z version. And don't forget she has the #1 album before the brits anyway.
