James if you take sometime like a video. Songs that have a video they received an average of 127 points, while those without a video received an average 117 points. This implies it's better to have a video...and so that is a bias that I've tried to iron out in the adjusted figures.

I took a look at the voting bias on BJSC XXVI. There isn't enough data to draw any conclusion but here is the data anyway. Videos 20 songs had a video and scored 2540 points in total. 28 songs did not have a video and scored 3288 points in total. That suggests having a video gives a song an extra 5.58 points while not having a video results in a loss of -3.99 points Artist from country where English is first language UK/US/Canada/Australia/Ireland etc 26 songs by English artist 3175 points in total. 22 songs did not have a video and scored 2653 points in total. That suggests being in English language artist gives a song an extra 0.70 points while not being lost -0.83 points Short/Long songs 25 songs where 3:33 or less with 3189 points in total scored. 23 songs where 3:34 or more with 2639 points in total. That suggests BJSC voters prefer the shorter songs. +6.14 for short songs and -6.68 points for the longer ones. Charted in UK/USA 13 artists has previous charted in UK/USA singles chart, they scored 1856 points, an average 142.8 points The remaining 35 had 3972 an average 113.49 points in total. That suggests using previously charted artists would gain a song 21.35 points while not charting before lost -7.93. Of course it could be that previous charting artist just make better music, or more commercial music fitting a BJSC voter....but hey you can decide. :P Solo artists 16 solo artists scored 2009 points in total(average 126), while the remaining 32 scored a total of 3819(average 119). That suggests a solo artists scores 4.15 more while others lose -2.07 points. Vocals Male/Female/other Everyone knows BJ loves a female artist right? Seems that people are split on the format. Perhaps there can be switching between one final format and semi-final format each month. That way you only have to wait out one month if you like a certain format.

I love the format. I don't remember being involved in semi-finals so maybe I don't have the full picture. I think there is a sort of purity about voting straight to a final without a semi-final. Both on the voting and the entry side I would think there is a more open mindedness to entering a song and also voting for it. In a way I would like to reduce the odds/prediction clutter. When I voted I knew my top two where not popular with other and thought about a tactical switched. In the end I didn't tactically vote but surely that is more of a problem with a semi-final format? Anyway, voted for the new format, for all in one and for the new points system. I wouldn't mind having higher points for the winner and perhaps award points to the top20. I actually created a list of 1 to 46 so could submit more then 15 very easily. The point of the contest is to find new music and in that respect it was fantastic.
