  1. Thanks to Katiekins of the DGOF for finding this ... http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c70/the_analyst_graphics/B1.jpg THE INTERVIEW Having outsold the Beatles and filled stadiums throughout her native Oz, Australian pop starlet Delta Goodrem is poised to click her heals and take America by storm with her brand of catchy, heartfelt piano pop. Delta caught up with Blender.com for a few sexy snaps, to give us the history behind her unique name and to chat about her eponymous Stateside debut. By James Jung, Photos by Christy Kurtz Your name has a certain pop music significance, what's the story behind that? Actually, my parent's named me after a Joe Cocker song, "Delta Lady." My mom was pregnant with me, and they went to a Joe Cocker concert. He opened the show with "Delta Lady," and they said it must be fate. My grandmother said it was the worst name ever. She said it must be a man's name, because it wasn't really a current name in Australia. But it's not like my parents are musical or anything. I don't come from a very musical household. I think we had three records in our house; so I had to discover music myself. When did you start playing your own music? I started piano lessons at 7. Soon I started to write music, write melody, and write lyrics to it. I always had kind of my own little path I was finding. My whole family is sports orientated. My brother is a footballer. It was all team, work hard, discipline, run fast. I made a demo by the time I was about 12. What was the first album that you ever bought? I think it was Michael Jackson. I was about 6 or 7, and I bought Thriller. I'm pretty sure Mariah Carey was second with Music Box, that was when I was about 11 or something. But these days Stevie Nicks is on high rotation! http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c70/the_analyst_graphics/B2.jpg What's the most played song in your iTunes? Well, [shuffles to find her iPod] right now it’s all Stevie Nicks, because her greatest hits just came out. But I've got everything on here from Enya to Prince. Do you have a favorite lyric in rock or pop music? That's so hard, because I just love so many lyrics. "Rooms on Fire" by Stevie Nicks: "Ooh, well there is magic all around you, if I do say so myself. Well, I have known this much longer than I've known you." Why do you perform barefoot? There are two reasons. I have to because in high heels when I sit at a piano, I'm too tall, so my knee hits the top of the piano. The second reason is that actually I really enjoy performing barefoot! I feel like I can be really comfortable, have no shoes on, walk around, and be very free-spirited. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c70/the_analyst_graphics/B3.jpg Tell us about your new self-titled record, Delta. The first two records are really piano driven, and I think this album is a lot more pop. But at the same time, I always say that it's sentimental pop, because I love to write about experiences. I love my songs to have meaning. It has to have meaning to me, I really need it to have value and emotion, but still be able to be catchy. Tell us about your Blender photo shoot. It had a really gritty downtown New York City feel. My dress got pretty wrecked! We shot outside this famous deli, where When Harry Met Sally was shot; and it looked pretty funky. So we were happy to have a look there. But it was raining, and when we got back the dress looked black. You're a cancer survivor. Does it define you? Are you a cancer survivor first, and a musician second? I think that every single person that has gone through cancer has gone through a personal journey and learned different lessons from it. I hope it doesn't define me. I definitely think it's a part of me; it's an experience that I'd like to, you know, been there, done that, and not do that again. It was very hard. I was 18 years old, and I'd just broken through with my music where I was No. 1 on the charts the same week I got diagnosed. It was a very bipolar moment. It definitely shaped darker colors within me, but it gave me an inner strength that makes me who I am today. When it comes to music, I have a different understanding when someone comes up and says, "Your song really means something to me." I can say, "I really know what you mean, because I do know what that's like when you need a song." Australians have a lot of great expressions. What is one piece of Australian slang Americans should pick up? We always say no worries. I always say no problem, no worries. CLICK HERE FOR THE REST OF THE PHOTOSHOOT She looks gorgeous  Gooooood promo!!
  2. http://forums.deltagoodrem.com/index.php?showtopic=233799 I'm loving all these recent demo finds  I adore In My Dream! :D
  3. A song that Delta recorded for the "Delta" album but was obviously put aside from the final cut. For some strange reason they disregarded this and yet they put Woman on the album  Days Go By was then recorded by Norwegian Idol 2007 winner Glenn Lyse and went to number one.
  4. Well considering Delta's supposedly going to be releasing here in the UK and she's said we will have different videos then I think its a good possibility that we may still get some different singles e.g. Possessionless, Bare Hands, Brave Face etc. So that could be consilation!
  5. I think its a really good choice :D One of my faves on the album so very pleased! I'm looking forward to seeing what they come up with for a video, I just hope its not a performance clip or c**p e.g. YWOBMH. I want something good to look at, something interesting, something "classic" :P The new photos are gorgeous

I highly recommend Brian's album too! Its REALLY good! My expectations weren't exactly amazing, but its actually a very good listen. Could of done with a couple more songs but yea I really like and have been listening to it heaps :D One thing though, Room to Breathe, about Kerry should not be released as a single as I've heard rumours of. That would just stir up alot of press nastiness. The song is really good though and you can tell Delta's input into that one. And on topic, I love the Promo video, sort of reminds you why you're a fan :P
  7. Australia neglected?!!! I'd say its the UK/Ireland/Europe thats been neglected! As for this album being released in the UK, in complete and utter honesty I'd rather she didn't release it here, my gut is telling me its gonna flop so I'd rather wait till she makes another album [even longer to wait for a tour some kind of recognition that we actually exist I know]. That said if the album does really well in the US, I'll think differently! And even then I'd like to wait for a newer album with some big US heavyweights possibly involved.
  8. I also hope we get to hear Black Apple, thats always sounded quite interesting. And as for Reaching Out being dissapointing, it was only a demo so not a proper reflection on the song really.
  9. What I mean't by "nobody has it any longer", I mean't ... there is not a version longer than 1 min 10 secs :P Hopefully Delta will find some way of releasing this, even if it is as a b-side.

  11. Nobody has it any longer, as far as I know. Its dissapointing though, I'd love to hear the full version too :)

Yeah the ITL video was filmed at least a month ago, as for a film I'm pretty sure we would of heard something by now. Btw do you guys remember when Delta was photographed walking in London with a film crew ... did anyone ever find out what that was about ... I heard something about it being for "Back Home (in or to) Australia" ... but never heard any more. http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk90/simplyhelenphotos/big_delta_goodrem_8773.jpg

  14. I don't think Delta is doing the walk!
  15. My choices are the same! Though maybe Beat Goes On abit sooner ;)
  16. I quite like it ;) Its different so 8/10.
  17. Got to say I'm LOVING this album  Some tracks take a few listens before you get into them but there are some really good little gems on the album. My faves are 4 Minutes, Give It To Me, Miles Away, Beat Goes On, Devil Wouldn't Recognize You, Voices ... the others are still growing on me. But I like :D

Why can't they just use the old Delta Goodrem [her autograph] font ... I mean why do they constantly have to change it?As for the album cover picture itself, its a nice photo but why couldn't they have gone with something a little more inviting e.g. a nice smiley photo. Ahhh well her management know what they're doing I suppose. Its a nice cover, just could of been tons better! ;)

Taking out The Guardian??? WHAT?? Its one of the best songs on the album! Yet they'll leave One Day on there ... seriously!

Like I say its not so obvious and I may be wrong but it appears to me that her arm is raised to her head .. http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk90/simplyhelenphotos/miarm.png

On the Mistaken Idenity album cover she has her hand on her head, its not so obvious because of the angle and isn't the two handed thing but its sort of that pose :P
  22. Really liking this song atm, its on the radio alot :)
  23. Believe Again
  24. I love it, well done! :)
