  1. So deserved and it was great to see ITTY get it's moment at Eurovision!
  2. I'm currently reading through old newspaper clippings (I will share articles and unseen images in Spice Circle at some point) and I can't help but think firing Simon was a huge mistake. There was next to no negative press aside from some articles regarding the sponsorships and the band vs brand argument, but Spiceworld had a lot of hype and they were claiming it would be one of "the biggest selling albums of all time". Fast forward a week later and the Daily Mirror are talking about the Spice balloon bursting and whether they should split up, instead of being remembered as has beens. And not to mention, calling the 191,000 opening week sales disappointing and using it's shipment figure 1.4 million to say there was a lot of unsold copies. When we know for fact Virgin shipped out what was projected to sell over the Christmas period. The press turned on them at the worst time. I'm surprised they managed to get the Christmas #1 with 'Too Much'. I imagine this is why Spiceworld only sold 1.6m vs Spice 3m. Once Simon left, the floodgates were open and Matthew Wright was relentless.
  3. Love when Jay decides to clear with FACTS. Their success will never fail to impress me, a pop band has never done it since!
  4. Also firmly in the Get Down With Me & Wasting My Time camp. The strongest tracks alongside Holler, IYWHSF & Tell Me Why.
  5. I know this is slightly O/T but if they were to tour again (as a 5 piece) do you think stadiums would be viable in Europe, Aus, North & South America? We know they exceeded expectations with the UK dates but of course this is their biggest market.
  6. They've taken way too long with the solo projects.
  7. This is clearly about the Netflix documentary. I can't wait!
  8. Mel B could've really forged out a solo career completely different the group. I wish she had stuck with Missy & Timbaland - I would've love to hear the direction they would've taken her.
  9. I don't think it was a contender, the album tracklist was confirmed by August as you can see in this video: R5akBCVK0hk?t=138
  10. I find it just as interesting that you're willing to overlook the narrative Heidi & Amelle were both willing to spin in order to paint Keisha in a bad light. But all of that is irrelevant now, Keisha is travelling the world, booked and busy with the band she was a founding member of. The others... Strictly will just have to do!
  11. Interesting how she was partly responsible for Keisha's removal alongside yet some members still have sympathy for her and paint her as a victim. I wonder why
  12. Whether they reunite as a 3 of 4, this will always loom over them. Even Loose Women had it as a topic today and the narrative was 'pop bands are necessarily friends'. Shame on Jesy for ruining what was a great bond. I feel sorry for Perrie, Leigh-Anne & Jade that they constantly have to deal with this drama they didn't sign up for and will no doubt be asked about it when they're ready to promote their solo releases.
  13. DNA for me because the production dates it unfortunately!
  14. Yes, I found it particularly interesting how they spoke about Kate Thornton, then editor of Smash Hits, refusing to come out of her office for the girls because she felt the magazine should be more aligned to the Britpop movement. I actually listened to her podcast show when Louise Redknapp was a guest and she tells a totally different story of how she embraced them. When it reality, she talks about shooting the Smash Hits cover for October 1996, well after they had blown up.
  15. Maybe a way to pay back Chris Herbert :P
  16. I also can't believe they didn't have the Spice Girls: In America Tour Documentary ready to go for December 98. It would've really helped the promo for 'Goodbye' since they couldn't travel to places internationally and been a big talking point (seeing them go on without Geri). They just chucked it out almost a year after the tour had finished? They could've done so much more with it, I think even Spiceworld: The Documentary would've been a more fitting title and tied in with the era. Without Simon, it was clear there was a lack of plan in place and they were just relying on their previous success to keep them going.
  17. I still can't believe she done nothing with the Popstars: The Rivals gig. She made great connections with ITV (even featuring in the indents at the time) and didn't think to launch a new campaign off that?
  18. Change Your Life (this song is seriously abominable with the talking parts) Hair Think About Us (inessential in their discography)
  19. I don't think they ever bettered the run of Wannabe- Say You'll Be There - 2 Become 1. They were all great in their own and had a story behind them. The Spiceworld era really lacked in comparison.
  20. In my opinion, Northern Star is better than any Spice album. I'm also surprised Virgin didn't give Reason a stronger push, considering they focused more on Melanie than the group during 99/2000. Maybe they realised the material wasn't as strong as her debut.
  21. You need to remember, outside of an official documentary that's not aired in over 15 years, their story has not been told on such a global level. If they get one of the streaming giants on board, it's going to re-introduce them and their story to those who maybe haven't paid attention since the 90s and maybe even a younger generation who aren't familiar with them. If it's a success, who knows what it may lead to...
  22. Their team would be wise to push this next year with a Goodbye25 release.
  23. colinn posted a post in a topic in Little Mix's Little Mix
Yeah, we should change this thread name to Little Mix Leaks and insert all videos. So far we've had: Senorita ft Maluma Stay The Night snippet National Manthem into Love a Girl Right (it initially wasn't a stand alone track) Love a Girl Right (Explicit Version) Strip (Explicit Version) Monster in Me (Demo) Woman Like Me (Demo)
  24. When reading through old Billboard Magazines they confirmed the 'Boyfriend/Girlfriend' duet in Studio X in Seattle during a tour stop in Tacoma. The tour date was August 8th 1998 and they had 3 days off prior.
  25. I already mentioned in the girls UK Chart thread when reading through old Music Week magazines they were on shaky ground with the press, radio & TV in 2000. They were playlisting 'Holler' but didn't throw full support behind it like their previous releases. Once the single went in at #1, airplay shot up by quite a margin. It was #1 on MTV UK. But once Forever underperformed, they were all too happy to drop them. 'Holler' began to experience one of the speediest declines on the radio airplay, slipping 2-7-26-23-40-84. It departed the Top 50 3x quicker than any other Top 5 Airplay Hit of that year. This is why I think had the girls done a bit more extensive promo, the era would have been more successful and at least reached 2x Platinum. I also think the Forever era proves the Spice Girls were no puppets and had full creative control, to their detriment in some ways. Who at Virgin Records was approving Mel B to release 'Hotter' one month before 'Forever' and Melanie C to release 'If That Were Me' a couple of weeks after the album release? The label should've put their foot down and known this was no strategy for a major pop act. But I think there was an almost arrogance that demand would be there for Forever, promotion or not.
