Best Spice Girl duet / feature
For me, it's easily Mel C & Left Eye. Lisa embodied the song perfectly with her verse. It still surprises me Virgin pushed I Turn To You in the US as opposed to NBTSA, it would've faired far better imo.

Spice Girls - Chart Runs & Sales Thread: UK
No problem at all, glad to share and love discussing all things charts ^_^ A Music Week article said in Week 6, it had increase of 3% - I think that roughly works out at 124,000? It was the second highest in the list, behind Jamiroquai with a budget of £750k and just in front of All Saints Under The Bridge at £280k. From my understanding, this was the UK label budgets only. Slightly O/T but reading through the old articles confirmed my dislike of All Saints (not their music!), their first interview with Music Week Melanie Blatt goes as far to say "we're better looking than them and have higher IQ's" It always struck me how they would come for Spice Girls marketing gimmick, when their gimmick was to be marketed as the "anti-Spice Girls". Any article containing All Saints always had something to say about the Spice Girls. It was a clear marketing ploy for London Records, who wanted a slice of the Spice phenomenon. Yes, even though Holler got the most radio adds when it was serviced, the likes of Radio 1, MTV & The Box didn't give as much as support as they did with their previous releases. I'm guessing they were unsure of the Spice Girls staying power and didn't want to be seen as supporting something that could be deemed as past it. But when the single went straight in at #1, airplay shot up. It wasn't until the album underperformed they dropped their support, quite drastically as you can see by the figures. It just shows how fickle the media were at the time with the girls.

Spice Girls - Chart Runs & Sales Thread: UK
Some (mostly) UK chart facts from Music Week: This has more than confirmed to me, if the girls had actually put in effort to promote 'Forever', it would have been a success in the UK at least. Industry support was there (to a lesser extent) but once 'Holler' went in at #1, the airplay shot up. It was #1 on MTV, local radio were also supporting. Even the opening sales of 'Forever' were the second highest #2 sales of the year. They would have never beaten Westlife but the era wouldn't have went into such free fall had they just kept up appearances and seen the campaign through.

Spice Girls - Chart Runs & Sales Thread: Worldwide
This was the UK figures for the tins, apologies I should've made that clear! There was also some great articles on why their radio support dropped significantly during the second era. It was mostly down to the industry feeling they were targeting pre-teens and the US Top 40 radio demographic at that time was for an older audience. Billboard were also incredibly balanced and fair in their reporting of the girls, who we know were receiving massive backlash, even going as far to correct Entertainment Weekly who proclaimed that Spice World only sold "a less than sizzling 100,000 copies in its second week" Billboard were quite right to say this was far from mundane sales that was being claimed and actually a great achievement! They also questioned why the girls didn't attend the 1998 American Music Awards as they had only been in the Los Angeles area a couple of days before. Accepting 3 awards in person would've fared far better and almost definitely increased album sales, potentially even a new peak. And they're still making questionable decisions stunting their potential almost 25 years later :P

I've been reading some old Billboard Magazines, some interesting worldwide facts here:

Little Mix’s unseen auditions on X Factor to be released
After seeing some of these comments I was expecting the worst. Far from that! Was it her best vocal performance? Definitely not but her beautiful tone was always there.

I put this together last year. Don’t know if it’s what you’re looking for but there are some cd and vinyl chart positions for some countries :) Exactly what I was looking for! Thank you.

Does anyone have a list of the Spice25 WW Chart positions? There's a few listed here but not all. Did they go Top 10 anywhere than the UK?

Emma Bunton's Christmas Party - UK Tour in December 2022
Not sure why she doesn't just release a Christmas album to accompany the tour? Maybe that's the plan and she will do a lot of promo around the Xmas period.

Why is Blackpink Enjoying All the Success I wished LM Had?
Their US team simply didn't see it for them and put in minimal effort. Let's not forget the Billboard Magazine journalist who tried to score them a big feature, only to be shot down and offered a phone interview.

Geri Halliwell • General Discussion
Now pictured with Liz Truss & giving her words of encouragement. Truly vile.

Jesy Nelson - TBA • 1st Album
Didn't like Little Mix's music but is working with producers that were involved in it? Make it make sense.
-
Will Jesy ever be welcomed back?
Yet on the same tour here is Jesy going to comfort an upset Leigh-Anne: I think people are looking too much into things and trying to push a certain narrative about a feud between Leigh-Anne and Jesy. It's clear tensions grew in 2020 after Jesy was approached about her blackfishing and refused to grow from it. But I don't think anything too serious happened before this.
-
Will Jesy ever be welcomed back?
This is the same era where Leigh-Anne broke into tears describing what she loved about Jesy. Don't think this is true.

Confetti • 6th Album
Bounce Back arguably had the biggest promo campaign and underperformed. I even remember seeing posters all over my city. Definitely a big misfire.

Confetti Tour • 2022
Think the note perfect part was the pre-record kicking in

#THANKYOULITTLEMIX
The odds they defied is something truly remarkable. When you think of the politics involved in the X Factor and how they managed to manoeuvre through that and actually go on to win is an achievement in itself. To then to go on to have a career spanning a decade with sell out arena shows and huge hits is something else entirely. I do think they were deserving of more global success but that was out of their hands and more down to the lack of push from their team/record label. It's a niggle I'll always have because you cannot tell me the likes of 'Secret Love Song', Touch' & 'Sweet Melody' shouldn't have dominated worldwide. But the girls did all they could and have worked so hard. Can't wait for Saturday!

Do you think we should start a campaign to #1 a la Sweet Melody? It would be great to see them get the #1 album for Friday 13th May ahead of their last show on the 14th.
