  1. Ugh I wish The Saturdays would have come to North America last year. I hope the fans don't turn this into a girl band rivalry like it has for those other 2 boy bands. Little Mix does have the advantage of 1D fans supporting them. I'm sorry if this offends anyone. They are very talented girls but so are The Saturdays. All the Sats need is build a fan base & they can be successful over here. They might just have to work their asses off for it.
  2. Well in reality The Wanted at the time only had like one major platform for Glad You Came, they had been doing radio tours & gigs all over US. So Glee was a very large platform for them cause after that the song went to the top 10 on itunes (and billboard) & eventually they landed more TV spots (American Idol, Billboard Awards ect). That being said, they did have Scooter Braun working for them so not sure it's the best example lol. Anwyays what The Saturdays need is a major platform like The Voice or American Idol.
  3. The promotion proccess in reality hasn't happened. The show is just to INTRODUCE them to the North American market. I doubt a record company would sign & invest money on an act and not support it with promotion. Until after months of promotion, no one can determine whether they have succeeded or "flopped." A word many people seem to enjoy using.
  4. I thought the song was okay when I first heard it. I didn't think it was a great choice for a first single (I still don't) mainly because I didn't find it catchy the first time I heard it. In no way do these examples compare, but I think about girl bands who's first single were catchy like "Wannabe" by Spice Girls or "Don't Cha" by PCD. But I really like the song now & play it all the time. That being said I agree with you with the Olly Murs point you brought up. There's always a next single if it doesn't take off in the coming months.
  5. The Saturdays could still be considered "nobodys" though. Just because they have a reality show on E! and have done a few promo TV shows doesn't mean they deserve INSTANT commercial success. I think Lights is a good example that sometimes it takes a while for songs to take off when you are a new artist & when you don't have a large fan base. Did we really expect the song to get instant radio play? Judging by the Daybreak interview this morning, Mollie (and the girls) are well aware that a radio tour is necessary & it's going to take a while to tour major cities all over the US.
  6. Yes! Can't wait for episode 2. I wonder if they will have a gig over here in Toronto since (not that it's the same situation,) both The Wanted & Lawson (in Lawson's case it's coming up) booked gigs here in Toronto. I can't wait for them to come to Canada!!
  7. That was an amazing performance. They all sounded great. Sometimes people under estimate Mollie's vocal ability, but in many live performances she has done well. Ballads anwyays.
  8. In the mean time we can do our part & Request the songs on Mediabase and tweet the biggest stations in US including z100 New York & 102.7 Kiis fm Los Angeles.
  9. Let's get REQUESTING!! The song was added to these: mediabase.com/mmrweb/7/stationplaylistrequest.asp?c_let=cibx-fm mediabase.com/mmrweb/7/stationplaylistrequest.asp?c_let=s001-FM mediabase.com/mmrweb/7/stationplaylistrequest.asp?c_let=WJQM-FM mediabase.com/mmrweb/7/stationplaylistrequest.asp?c_let=wcpt-FM Most important ===> need to fill it in at the bottom Z100 New York - mediabase.com/mmrweb/7/stationplaylistrequest.asp?c_let=whtz-fm KISS 102.7 LA mediabase.com/mmrweb/7/stationplaylistrequest.asp?c_let=kiis-FM

^ Yeah I agree. The American public is incrediby difficult to win over. That being said I don't think the show not having high ratings is going to hurt them, as any bit of exposure is good. What the girls need is a big radio tour like The Wanted, Cher Lloyd, Rita Ora did. I mean it takes some time because the country is so big, but it will be worth it once the airplay increases. Remember songs for new artists in the US take a while to take off becuase radio isn't quick to playing them as they are for popular artists. The 4 girls should come back & begin.

Unfotunately E! Canada did not air episode 2 tonight. Which means we (as in Canadians) will be a week behind. I was so pissed when I found out. Rochelle confirmed it on Twitter also.

P.S. The show was AMAZING! I hope someone posts a link soon. Episode 1 covers their arrival, rehersals, VMA's & the Perez Hilton after party performance. So good.

Yeah I agree. There has been a lot of promo for this show. Plus it's airing right after the new season of the new Kardashian's show. So at least the premiere episode will get decent ratings. I've got a good feeling about the show. But I don't think The Sats will completely rely on the show for promo. SO EXCITED!!
  14. Here's a link to the Today Show performance of "What About Us". Not sure if it will work outside Canada/US ==> today .com/id/3041478/vp/50482804
  15. Another thing is maybe the record label is relying on the show for TV promo, which is good but I agree radio tour is KEY. Def Jam knows how radio airplay works in the US. So I hope they hurry back & do a proper radio tour all over the US & at least Montreal & Toronto in Canada.
