I find this review from Alan Corr a bit funny because in the text its mostly a positive review and yet he gave it 2 stars https://www.rte.ie/entertainment/music-revi...s-on-new-album/

Does Lifeline sound familiar to you? Its like I heard some parts before but I can't remember where.

I thought the same thing about Wild Dreams  In a lot of ways the album reminds me of the music OneRepublic is doing at the moment.

Thanks! Yeah its free. Just use Tunnel Bear, set NZ there. Then on Spotify profile page change the country to NZ as well and then just log in to the Spotify app. When you do that you can just turn off Tunnel Bear, you don't need it anymore. If you need help let me know ;) I forgot to mention, I can see Alive as an opener or closer to the tour, its positive and perfect for stadiums.

Who says I am not excited? I am sick to be honest, I can barely swallow and I am coughing so much :( In any case, there is nothing wrong with it, I am just surprised how boppy it is, they are just 2 proper ballads besides My Hero. It definitely goes with the line of Take You There that Mark and Shane did, its a new sound and its theirs. Honestly, the only song that I am not thrilled with so far is Magic, its kind of too cheesy but its still an ok uptempo. Oh and the album is out in New Zealand so I just used VPN and checked NZ Spotify

I started listening to the album. They only haven't been involved in 3 songs. Its all Mark/Shane, only on Alive did Nicky write with 2 songwriters. I have to say its odd to think that you get 3 bops right of the bat. Lifeline melody chorus reminds me of some other song but I can't put my finger on which one. Highlights so far are Alive, Rewind, Do You Ever Think Of Me. I am actually shocked its all very mid/up tempo, its definitely a different Westlife album.

A fan asked the boys on The One Show will they sing some old album tracks and Mark said they always consider that but he made a joke out of it how they see people going to the toilet during those so they ultimately decide to bring Mandy back. Joking aside, they really should do that once, I am tired of seeing every tour as Greatest Hits tour.

Westlife calendar if someone is interested. Those group shots look fun :D https://danilo.com/products/westlife-2022-a3-wall-calendar

Calling them a Boyzone act is a bit harsh when by the end they only released cover albums. How can it be a side project when they literally built music studio in their homes and co-wrote majority of the songs just for this album? I think they care more for this album than anything ever before because they had the biggest input in it. Just because they aren't everywhere who says they actually can be? Maybe it is hard to book high exposure. And at the end of the day, if they want to be only a tour act, its their choice, I am sure millions would be happy even with that. I agree about the bundle thing but having signings in the time of the pandemic would be simply crazy.

Did anyone check how are tickets for Aviva and Wembley doing, is the sale for these gigs going well?
  12. zeze88 posted a post in a topic in Pop and Country
I honestly don't know what to think to be honest. I do hope tickets/pre-order album thing helped them.

I finally saw the performance. I am quite certain Mark was live because I noticed the difference. I also think Nicky was live but I can never tell with him and Kian

Its not ageism but it is definitely some kind of limitation, that can't be denied. I think its because they have a bad reputation, they aren't considered as current or cool, even if Starlight isn't outdated at all. I mean, back in 20002 when they wanted to crack US, they sent World Of Our Own without telling who they are. All stations went crazy for the song but the moment they found out its Westlife, they said they don't need another boyband. As for complaining during their popular days, they couldn't complain about something in the band let alone someone else

I have been saying this since forever that they probably won't get #1. Unless you mean that mistake about their album being released next week. Don't forget they are the ones who swapped Brian for Nicky so I am sure they are simply incompetent again

Where did you hear that abut the album release date? Yeah, I still think there is high chance they will be #3. Abba had huge sales this week and I could see them being on the top, or #2 behind Adele. But who knows, maybe pre-order/tour tickets helped a lot for Westlife, we will see. Even if they end up #3, that is a very good result.

I watched the video couple of times and I changed my mind - its not that bad, the effects are nice. I can't wait for the album, I will switch to New Zealand for sure on the 25th

I agree we shouldn't compare the music now to what it was. Thats like saying, if Tina Turner released a song today, you go "its good but its no Private Dancer or Simply The Best". :D I think both of these new songs are great songs, its because many other reasons the boys aren't lighting up the charts. Also, who knows what the label even tried but maybe they just couldn't achieve what thy wanted. Its not like Hello My Love had a bigger promo, its just that Westlfe came back after 7 years with a bop so even non-WL fans were casually interested. OR, yes, they simply think its not worth bleeding money on it if it won't chart well anyway, I can see some logic behind it to be honest, especially during the pandemic.

They can do all that and I still think it wouldn't matter a lot, unless they duet with huge stars like Adele or BTS. I still think Starlight and My Hero are quality songs so I wouldn't put a blame on the songs.
  23. zeze88 posted a post in a topic in Pop and Country
They were on This Morning the other day and they also had Irish radio slots when Starlight was released and it still didn't help in Ireland. Its not their fault Radio 1 doesn't give a damn about them. There really isn't much they can do
  24. zeze88 posted a post in a topic in Pop and Country
I agree. I mean, they have tons of videos with them just standing but this looks kind of cheap, I can't believe it took editors 2 weeks for this. Even Dynamite looked better and it also had lights + Croke Park moments.

I keep saying this but I think this but I think this is the reality now for the boys. Years ago they could have performed on a big show like Pride of Britain and that would have helped them to score no.1 but that is no the case now.
