  1. I haven'read one bad comment of review of the single. Everyone likes it but I guess they just aren't interested enough to buy it. The biggest issue is that major relevant stations won't play the song, only BBC Radio 2. I just hope the album will do better. Plus, he will release another single before it (possibly Butterfly), so hopefully this will help him.
  2. He is officially #66 in Ireland... I was expecting a higher charting than this considering he was in the Top 20 and 30 this entire time on Irish iTunes. Besides the self-releasing it through his own label Harmoney Entertainment and no support from big radio and TV shows, I'm sure that the fact he is starting his career nearly 3 years after Westlife is also harming him - he was out of spotlight for too long. Look at Shane, he launched his career year after Westlife and he has done a lot better despite his average music. The good thing about going independently is that he has full control of his music and that no one will drop him no matter how low he charts.
  3. In case someone is interested, here are all the new songs he presented at the gigs, the quality of the audio and video is actually pretty decent: Wash The Pain Away and Cut You Out: Sirens: Butterfly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBzf-Bj-BKo Only You: Back To Yours Love Me or Leave Me Alone (It starts around 4:30) Fire: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJ2dZ0B5U0c
  4. Mark posted the remix of his 1st single: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKKMfbnpLCo I'm usually not a huge fan of remixes because they are sometimes too long but I really like this one, its very good.
  5. I wouldn't worry too much about how the single is doing now as the release is still far away and he hasn't promoted it anywhere yet. However, I truly hope he gets success as he deserves it judging from what he is doing. But you truly don't know how will it go when it comes to ex-boyband member, especially considering he isn't in the same position like Robbie or Justin were who started solo at the band's peak. Mark is starting after 14 long year career... However, I haven't read one bad review about the single which is great - it will be amazing even if just critics praise him, he seems to be not too worried about the success, he just cares about what he is offering. And also, for what I understand, he is with an independent label. He offered his material to big labels but they all wanted him to carry on with a Westlife sound which he refused to do. So fair play to him for sticking with his vision, even if he doesn't become hugely successful. Here are a few new songs he presented during his 1st gig - the quality isn't the best but at least we get the feel of what to expect:
  6. I already posted about it earlier: http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=175120
  7. I definitely agree with that, I actually can't stand Newman's voice at all. From what I have seen, the reaction is all positive and everyone is surprised like you, even shocked :D And here is a very nice review of the single by The Version music site: At a time when Years & Years, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith and Hozier are ruling the charts, where does an ex-manband member fit in the current chart landscape? A couple of years on from Westlife’s split, Markus Feehily is about to find out. His long anticipated debut single, Love Is A Drug dropped this morning; So the question is, can it be a hit? The answer is simple. Yes. Incredible production, exceptional vocals and contemporary beats ensure Markus delivers. Full of soul, full of heart, Love Is a Drug very much deserves a place on the Radio 1 playlist, so we just hope for Feehily that the men in suits look beyond any preconceptions about an ex Westlifer. With Marcus’s vocal ability and tunes like this, there’s absolutely room for him in the charts right now. I do hope he gets a Radio 1 slot and that people won't pre-judge him before they hear the music.
  8. Former Westlife member Markus Feehily premiered his debut single Love Is A Drug today. He describes his new sound as darker, more soulful/RnB, electronic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsHSn_UBfAA What do you think?
  9. I am a Westlife fan and to me Man On A Wire doesn't sound nothing like Westlife... to me this is a typical The Script pop/rock song. I quite like the album, I don't know why all the negativity, I like it more than #3. I wasn't that excited when I first heard it because it sounded bit samey but it grew on me with each listen. I just wish they experiment more with Irish flavor like they did in Paint The Town Green, that is a great song.

I downloaded a version of the album that has a broken Bang Them Sticks, only 1:36 and Like I'm Gonna Lose You is also abruptly finished. Did anyone find these songs in full? Overall, a great album! Just fun happy pop :)
  11. Can I ask who is singing that part "won't talk about it, won't read about it, bring you ass..." on Electric Blue? I know it says the song features T.I., but that doesn't sound like him. Or is it? Also, on Just A Girl, is that also Nicole singing? I read somewhere that her voice was autotuned, but I'm still asking since it sounds like a different person. Overall, I really like this album, which is a first since I never liked her solo material before.

I wouldn't call it terrible, only limited - she does it good with what she has. She certainly isn't terrible on Close Your Eyes.
  13. I have seen many comments from fans who are very bitter she went country. I agree she has been doing pop for a while so I don't get shock and anger some fans are feeling. When I said the songs are deeper, I meant they are a lot more mature than Shake It Off, thats all. The lyrics are all pretty much the same, she sings about love, heartbreak... However, I definitely felt 80s vibe throughout the entire album, I don't know, maybe thats just me... Also, I definitely think this is better than what Katy Perry is doing.
  14. Since I listened to the entire album, I will leave my two cents about it. Her new album is great, even if it is pop. This isn't drastically different than Red, that album was more pop than country so I don't know why so many are shocked by her decision. There are songs like Wildest Dreams, This Love, Clean, How You Get The Girl and You Are In Love which could have easily been on Red, those songs aren't so different. However, even if the songs like Blank Space and I Know Places which are melodically very different, they are lyrically still very interesting and strong, especially Blank Spaces because she basically makes fun of the media and the image she has (writing about ex-boyfriends). My point is, this is still Taylor, even if she changed her style because most of her songs are still lyrically interesting and strong - I mean, You Are In Love is a beautiful love song. In fact, ONLY Shake It Off is catchy fun pop song, the rest is more deeper than that. Also, who cares if the songs are about Harry Styles? Some people are really too worked up about it. She always wrote songs about her ex-boyfriends, nothing new about that. I actually think only Out Of The Woods and Style are directly about him. However, I always hated that people analyzed her songs just so they could figure about who is the song about - it doesn't matter whom the song is about, not really. Honestly, if people could just ignore the fact that she went from country to pop, they would see it is a very good album. It actually annoys me that many are acting like she did some crime just because she went pop. So what? She has the right to do so, its obviously something she wanted to do for a while since Red was more pop and country anyway. Artist has the right to do what he/she wants, who says she will never do country again? People are just exaggerating, she still is making good music even if it isn't country. And you know what? I also commend her for truly embracing the 80s sound. Because when I heard Shake It Off, I was thinking she doesn't know what she is talking about if she thinks this represents 80s music. But truly, every other song in its melody is heavily influenced by 80s music. In fact, this album is more cohesive and consistent than Red, everything is put together nicely. This is not country, BUT I will defend Taylor on her decision because she still made good music. At least this time she said she is going pop, unlike Red which was a mixture, but it was mostly pop.
  15. Oh ok, I must have misread it, sorry. :)
  16. I read she sold over 16K. I'm very glad she is no. 1 but I had no idea album sales are this bad, its shocking that you can actually get to no.1 with 16K sold. But anyway, Ella deserves the top spot, the album is amazing.

I didn't really want to start a new thread. Kian participated in Radio 2 album Sounds of The 80's singing Run To You by Bryan Adams: https://soundcloud.com/sounds-of-the-80s/ki...ken-bruce-61014 WHY didn't he sing more, seriously?! I think that whenever I hear him sing. It truly is a shame that the management decided to put everything on Shane and Mark, even if they are superior singers.
  18. I don't understand the hate either. She makes fum harmless songs, to me it certainly is better than what Carly did with Call Me Maybe. Plus, I realize some were angry at her message in ABTB, but I think people are overreacting because she clearly meant to say that having a little more weight is perfectly ok. Besides, Close Your Eyes from her EP also sends a lovely message, that you are great just the way you are. Her new song is very catchy and fun, even if it does sound similar to All About The Bass - but you know how they say: if it aint broke... This song isn't on her EP so I presume this is probably an introduction to her full album? I am looking forward to it.
  19. Its truly a great album! I agree Glow shouldn't have been a single, Mirror Man would have been a much better choice. I LOVE Billie Holiday, its such a catchy song.
  20. I don't get why there are so many negative comments about this song, it is a decent feel-good and insanely catchy song, nothing more, nothing less - I find it certainly better than say, Roar or the ever popular Anaconda and Booty that we have today. She posted audio of her other songs from the EP - I think Title is even more catchy and Close Your Eyes has also a very nice message. All in all, I think she has something and I am looking forward on hearing the full album one day.

I like this song a lot more than Maps. At least Adam doesn't sound like chipmunk. it is not so auto-tuned.
  22. Sara started touring again - she performed a brilliant rendition of Sia's Chandelier. All I can say is, WOW! I like her version much more the the original. Don't get me wrong, Sia has a great voice but Chandelier is heavily influenced by dance music. Sara brought the soul in the song. Here is the video of the performance:

I agree. I definitely think this album is better than last. And I agree about the lyrics too - most songs are very repetitive but I do think Emergency is great lyrically, while Something Bad isn't so bad - I definitely appreciate his honesty. However, I don't think the last album was any better lyrically, it was actually worse in my opinion. But yes, musically most of the songs sound great - Living In New York, Locked The Door, Tippy Toes... The truth is, if no one had known that these songs are about his failed marriage, the reaction wouldn't have been this negative. I bet many would say it has great love songs.

Did anyone actually listen to the album? I'm curious what others think - but right now all I see are people who are disgusted by it just looking at tracklisting and album sales.

Like I said, it is actually a great album - the only problem is that his "get my wife back" campaign ruined everything, people simply got annoyed. If he only just kept quiet and let the songs speak for themselves, I think the album would have performed better. - take Pink for example, her Funhouse was hugely influenced by the separation from her husband, but she didn't go around and talked about it, the songs did. About the flop - Robin has been releasing album for years and none of them before Blurred Lines were majorly successful - so this isn't a shocker.
