All 5 Garth Brooks concerts at Croke Park have been canceled. I feel sorry for Shane, it was his dream to open for him, not to mention it was a great opportunity for him. I bet he is gutted.

You may hate Westlife, but people just can't deny they are all very good singers, especially Mark and Shane who are actually brilliant - in 15 years of singing, I have never ever heard Shane mess up one note, and that is a very rare talent.

Yesterday I stumbled upon a few Youtube links fropm Kian's gigs in June when he was supporting Boyzone and then I remembered this thread. You can't hear this and say he is the worst singer, seriously: His long note at 1:20 is great. I hope he will release an original album in the future, it is definitely something he wants to do - I think everything went pretty decent for him regarding solo career so hopefully he will get an opportunity.

I just listened to his new album - I was very worried that the album will be dreary and desperate crap considering how he is promoting it (which I don't like). Boy was I wrong! I am presently surprised how majority of the songs have up-beat melody and catchy beats. I'm so happy he is back to his RnB sound, to me this is his best album so far. Black Tar, Little To Late, Tippy Toes and especially Something Bad are my favorites so far - and I can't believe how Time Of You Life is so upbeat and fun, I thought it would be a heavy ballad.

Yes, and if he gets a chance to do a second album, I think he will have to change his sound, do more current music, something thats more pop/rock because the music he is doing now is not popular anymore.

Shane said this on Twitter: I have just been confirmed as the opening act for Garth Brooks in Croke Park in July. I am so excited. That is amazing, I bet he is over the moon, as he is a HUGE Garth Brooks fan. And it is no doubt amazing for his solo career. Sure, he sang on Croke with Westlife 4 times already, but it is a great honor for him to open for a legend like that, AND 160 000 (because Brooks is playing 2 nights) will see him perform solo which is his biggest crowd yet.

There are some parts I love and don't love about the song. I love The Police vibe, it is perfect for summer time. On the other hand, I really think the chorus has too much electronic sounds, not to mention Levine sounds almost like a chipmunk, waaay to much autune - i just don't get why even they had to go down that road. I hope that the album overall doesn't have too much autune/electronic music because I will be disappointed. In my opinion, it still won't top the Hands All Over quality - to me, that album is their best, despite the fact that Overexpossed was hugely successful

Great review - I have to ask, has Sara sang a new song on the show. He chose songs wisely in my opinion, which is the most important when you have a limited vocal ability. Not everyone has to be perfect - look at Robbie, his voice is nothing special but he is a brilliant performer and thats why he is a superstar. Just to be clear, in no way I am comparing Kian with Robbie :)

Exactly, I think the same - the bloke was smart enough not to refuse an opportunity that was basically handed to him on a silver plate, I don't know who would refuse record company coming to you and saying "here is a record deal, go and make an album", especially if he wants to work in a showbiz world. This will only be good for him, I have not read any bad review, the only remark is that he is keeping it safe with covers. But to say that he is destroying Westlife's legacy is just ridiculous - no matter what, nothing will tarnish what Westlife achieved, the band and their solo careers are a different thing altogether.

And Shane sold 18K so does that mean you think Shane shouldn't have released the album? The sales have drastically changed, not even Robbie or 1D who are very popular sell 100K or 200K in the first week. And don't forget Kian released the album in March and not November/December when the sales are a lot higher. I am also hoping for a reunion just like you, but I don't think Kian is embarrassing Weslife's legacy.

Oh please, embarrassing to the Westlife memory, I can't believe you think that - the Westlife boys can do whatever they want. And like it or not, his album did end up in Top 10, not to mention at no. 2 in Ireland so obviously he has fans that like his music. All the Westlife boys are proud of him, I just don't get why you hate his decision so much. He was asked to do it and he would have been crazy if he refused the offer. At the end of the day, it is not all about the voice and if this cover album opened the door for him to make an original album, I'm happy he took the chance.

Of course Mark and Shane are superior singers, no one is denying that. But then again, I don't get why you as a Westlife fan would create a separate thread and say he is the worst singer ever, that you sing better than him and that he can't even pretend to sing - that is a little harsh. And ok, I agree he is weak in verses, but he sounds ok in chorus and that high note is perfectly fine. All in all, I am interested in hearing his original album in the future, even if his voice isn't perfect as Mark's or Shane's.

I can't wait for Mark's album, I'm expecting huge things from him, especially with all the amazing comments from songwriters and producers. I think he will release it by this year, he always said he won't wait for too long. Plus, the fact he is recording so often these days means he is probably nearly done. As for Nicky, he is indeed recording but he said he won't release it any time soon. So I don't think he gave up, he just takes it slow, since he became a father again and that he has his own radio show. about Kian - The fact he was so honest on how the album came to be can only help him and no matter how low the sales are, the record company will remember that it was a Top 10 album. also, like I already said - people can finally hear him sing which general public never got to hear. And sure, some will mock him for not being good enough, but he is well aware of what he can and can't do and I do also think he has done a decent job with the album - I honestly like his album more than Brian's cover album, even if I do think Brian has a stronger voice than Kian.

I think he was #3.

Like Noahspike said, plenty of women keep their name, especially in show business so I don't know what you are getting at. Did Demi become Demi Willis or Demi Kutcher when she was married to Bruce or Ashton? No. Plus, you don't know what is written in her documents, maybe she is Egan. Jodi obviously kept her name because she worked in the show business being in girlbands and soup opera.

Kian is officially #9 in the UK. By the way, the other day, when he was asked if he considered doing an album of original music he's written, he said If he gets the opportunity, he will write all the songs.

I thought you were joking, but I wasn't dead certain, you should have put smiley or something :) Don't get me wrong, I know that one of the reasons he stayed IS because he is good looking, but I'd like to think it wasn't JUST because of that. And to be fair, it is not like fans couldn't hear a solo from them - they had a fair amount of it on concerts during Medley's - Nicky carried I Get Around and Kian Great Balls of Fire in the first GH tour. I think management was just lazy, they didn't want to bother with finding songs that could work for Nicky and Kian when they had powerhouses Mark and Shane. The perfect example who they all could carry the song rather nicely is Butterfly Kisses where everyone had a solo part. Even You Make Me Feel. So i don't believe it couldn't have been different, they were just lazy. By the way, I will say that sometimes I truly wonder how Mark stayed in the band when he was so off key in the early days, the first tour is cringe-worthy :D I guess Simon and Louis saw what could become of him because he was getting better and better from GH tour, now he is incredible singer.

Quite the opposite actually - I didn't have high expectations at all since he recorded this in 3-4 weeks and it is full of covers. I'm glad he is doing so well, I can't believe he charted higher than Shane :) Well, what do you think was the reason Kian was in the band? If you think he was in the band just because he was cute, you are wrong - he was known for keeping everything together in the band. Plus, he along Shane and Mark were original members. All I'm saying is, of course Mark and Shane were superior singers, but I wouldn't say Nicky and Kian can't sing at all.

I wouldn't say poor, he just needs songs that suit his voice. Of course Mark and Shane are out of his league, but Nicky and Kian were in Westlife for a reason, they all harmonized wonderfully together.
