  1. Shane is officially #7 in Ireland. I was sure he would be higher as the single and the EP as a whole did very well on iTunes. Nonetheless, I think this is very good for Shane as it is not easy for an ex boybander to start a solo career.
  2. what little promo can do - Shane was on BBC Radio 2 today and the single climbed up the UK Singles iTunes chart at #35 while he was #50 just a few hours ago The EP also climbed the UK Album iTunes chart from #8 to #6. Tomorrow he will be performing on This morning so hopefully this would also help.
  3. Hopefully the gig will help him and I hope we get to see it on Youtube :) By the way, the single was played on Radio 1, WOW! They never supported Westlife. Here is Shane's tweet about it: Was excited to hear my 1st single on Radio 1 today ..Thank you so much @bbcr1 for your support!!! 🎶🎶Amazing!!
  4. Shane is #7 in Midweeks :) I wasn't expecting seeing him so high considering he is slipping down iTunes Singles chart. Hopefully he can stay in Top 10 until Sunday.
  5. Yes, I'm loving it too. Everytime is so fun and uplifting, but I also love Once because of the lyrics and arrangement - sounds much better than the acoustic performances. Today's Not Yesterday reminds me of Westlife days, it is a great ballad. I think it would be realistic to expect a Top 20 single, that wouldn't be so bad as we all know how hard is to start a career after boyband days. I read on the Internet the other day that his second single will be ballad All You Need To Know and he will perform it on The X Factor on October. That is the song he has been talking about a lot, he thinks it is the best from the album and it is his personal favorite - so I can't wait to hear that song :) Here are the acoustic performances if you haven't seen them: And he sang Lonestar cover Amazed on the radio:
  6. Wait, he is no.1 on iTunes album chart, isn't that a good thing? What will be more important in the official chart in the end, the album or single position on iTunes? I suppose single since you say he is flopping right? Sorry if my question is stupid or if I'm not making much sense, I'm not very familiar with iTunes. But there wasn't really hype about him, he just recently started to promote it so I wasn't expecting him to have a Top 10 with any ease.
  7. Nah, I hardly doubt Justin would do a cover.

I just listened to Katy's song and it is a total rip-off! <_< She even admitted on Twitter on May how she adores Sara's song.. But this is definitely a weaker version, Katy isn't even close to Sara's great lyrics.

I find the entire album album brilliant, definitely her best so far! :)
  10. Just so you know, that is not Buble's song either - numerous people covered it, most famous is the Dean Martin cover. If he releases a cover, that will be a very stupid move, no matter how much he changes it.
  11. I'm not saying they should completely change, but it wouldn't harm them if they do have 2-3 more mature songs on the way - their fans will grow with them, so slight change should happen at one point. Plus, every acts tries to bring something new with each album, so it would be good for them to do that and not record the same old thing.
  12. I think the bottom line is this: 1D will never gain a larger appeal if they stick with the songs like Kiss You and Best Song Ever which are catchy, but very juvenile and immature. And it looks like they are not changing the formula anytime soon as I saw a headline today with one of them saying their new single will be similar to Best Song Ever. I would have suspected at least tiny growth by 3rd album, but I guess Simon is sticking to that saying "if it ain't broken, don't fix it". About their writing... When you have 5-6 songwriters credited before your name, this shows they had a small input in those songs. Westlife didn't write a lot, maybe 20 songs in their entire career, but at least you can say they wrote the songs because they were credited first, while they wrote a few songs on their own. But you are right, 1D are singers and they don't have to write - I just find it funny when some 1D or The Wanted fans keep saying they are also songwriters when it is pretty clear their input is small.
  13. This. I mean, Rihanna and Britney have released 7 albums so far, Shania Twain is a country star and country is very important in the US. Plus, it is always more fair to compare boybands with boybands and girlbands with girlbands - I would never compare say, 1D with Timberlake as they are completely different. That is why I think that 1D are overrated as a boyband act.
  14. How they don't reflect? - they have after all sold 80 million records worldwide, that is A LOT, and that is with only 3 studio albums released which is VERY impressive :)
  15. Yes, I remember that album was hugely successful. Also, I would like to point out that it is naturally easier for an UK artist to succeed in their homeland than it is to an US artist so it wouldn't have been that surprising if he hadn't passed the 1 million mark. His 2nd album also sold nearly 1. million copies. That is why I find it surprising that 1D are not hugely successful in the UK. they are much more successful in other countries.
  16. Well, I for one think it is not different because she is overrated as well - she is basically a chameleon, just copying different artists which is real shame as she actually has a great voice.
  17. How exactly are they underrated though? They are no different than any other boyband that ever existed or will exist in the future. Also, many artists would KILL to have that kind of media exposure and hype that 1D do. I simply can't see that they are underrated... the media in fact are sometimes exaggerating their success and are overly praising them, you should be very grateful as they used to mock boybands very harshly in the past.
  18. Just so you know, I only mentioned Mars and Sande as an example that it is possible to sell millions of records - because many people blame the decreased sales for some act not having high sales. All I'm saying is that, if someone truly loves your music, you could have high sales. And of course that it isn't JUST about the sales, but I wouldn't actually put merchandise as an example of success - every boyband has had that (JLS had even condoms ), it is just that Simon is clever to expand that even more with toothpaste and make-up. That is not success, that is more about popularity. And again, like ¿ DESPEDIDO ? said before - ALL boybands are targeted at teen audience, but many of the older boybands managed to appeal to the wider audience.
  19. I keep saying they are overrated for a while now so yes, I agree with this. I mean, just this recent example shows this: their new single was no.1 on iTunes in 60 countries and today it is no. 1 in just 7 countries. It was reported they will probably sell 300K in the US which is less than what they sold with Live While We're Young (340K). And again, they won't be no. 1 in the UK as Avicii is leading by a huge margin - he sold 100K by Friday, while 1D sold 50K. I know that the sales have decreased in the last few years, but many artists prove that the sales can be high if the public is interested in the music: Michael Buble and Emeli Sande for example had no problem selling million copies in the UK with their last albums, Bruno Mars as well. Look at Robin Thicke's and Daft Punk's singles... It is still possible to have high sales. So yes, I think they aren't very successful in the UK since their albums still haven't reach 1 million mark despite such a huge media exposure. And even if the worldwide sales are not bad, you would think they would be much higher with such huge popularity and media coverage. Especially if they cracked America - Westlife for example sold 5 million copies of their debut and 7 million copies of 2nd album without the american market. I agree that young people don't buy music these days, bu then again... they are a boyband after all, so you would think they would support their lovely act in every possible way - I know diehard fans sometimes buy 5-6 copies just so they would make sure their artist gets a high charting. It is certainly more about the hype and popularity than the actual success.
  20. It has been confirmed Shane will perform at The Bournemouth Air Festival on 30th of August. http://www.wave105.com/near-you/local-even...he-piers-event/ Hopefully someone would post a few Youtube videos :)
  21. I agree, I really like the album :)
  22. You are definitely NOT the only one, I can't stand him either! And I agree he has one of the worst winner voices - Jahmene had some issues, but he has an amazing voice, I noticed he actually learned to control the vocal more. I love the photo
  23. Who? Sorry, I don't know who that is...
  24. This may be their worst song ever, but the video is best one ever. Very well done, funny as well. On the side note... This is truly sad. and then 1D fans wonder why people like that are not liked... https://twitter.com/BiebsHeaven/status/3593...4324224/photo/1
  25. Yes, finally! The single can be also pre-ordered on iTunes: http://www.apple.com/uk/itunes/affiliates/download/ I was worried a little they won't put it there... Hopefully this should help with the sales.
