Just for fun, here are the songs that Shane has co-written for Westlife, often with other Westlife boys - maybe I missed a few: Fragile Heart (McFadden, Egan, Filan) Bop Bop Baby (McFadden, Filan Murphy, O'Brien) Reason For Living (Byrne, Egan, Feehily, Filan, McFadden) I Wanna Grow Old With You (Egan, Filan, McFadden) Don't Say It's Too Late (McFadden, Filan, Romdhane, Larossi) Love Crime (McFadden, Filan, Romdhane, Larossi) I Promise You That (McFadden, Filan, Romdhane, Larossi) You Don't Know (McFadden, Egan, Byrne, Feehily, Filan) Reason for Living (Byrne, McFadden, Egan, Feehily, Filan) Never Knew I Was Losing You (McFadden, Egan, Byrne, Feehily, Filan) Where We Belong (Byrne, Egan, Feehily, Filan, McFadden) I Won't Let You Down (Byrne, Egan, Feehily, Filan, McFadden) Singing Forever (Byrne, Egan, Feehily, Filan, McFadden) You See Friends (I See Lovers) (Byrne, Egan, Feehily, Filan, McFadden) I'm Missing Loving You (Byrne, Egan, Feehily, Filan, McFadden) Closer (Shanks, Reid, Byrne, Egan, Feehily, Filan) Too Hard To Say Goodbye (Shanks, Byrne, Egan, Feehily, Filan) Last Mile of The Way (Ehrlich, Girelli, Byrne, Filan)

And it never crossed your mind that he wants to have a successful solo career while recording something he is passionate about? I don't get these negative comments, why think like that? He said multiple times he is so happy he can write his own songs, something he couldn't do often in Westlife because they were pushed into covers too much. I stated before he signed a contract which he agreed to give money back, so I'm sure a certain percentage is agreed.

For this Friday, Shane opened an Instagram page where he posted lyrics from the song he showed us in the video: "I don't need the sunlight shining on my face and I don't need perfection to have the perfect day" Here is the link: http://instagram.com/shanefilanofficial I think it is very very smart that he is connected to various social media: Twitter Facebook and now Instagram.

Great song and the video. I love these kind of videos where they have a nice story.
  5. I don't know why does it sound cheap to you, the production is very good. Also, it definitely sounds like Avril or Kelly, I'm glad she is doing something she is very comfortable - unlike Jarmaine Paul whose new single is so not him and is very bad.

I don't know, I don't hear it :D anyway.. Here is a little info from Shane on Twitter: Was back where it all started today at Rokstone Studios to do the vocals on a song I wrote with @SteveMacProd & @WayneHector It is so great he is working with Hector and Mac as they are the ones who wrote many Westlife classics.
  7. I love Root Down! It is very positive again and the melody is so catchy :) I can't wait for the album!

People who pre-ordered the album got a exclusive new song called Root Down. I love it - it is very positive once again and the melody is so fun and catchy. I think I'm going to love the 3rd album very very much!

I was just thinking the same thing about the video... on Twitter he said he will just show us a clip to see how it is going in the studio. I mean, from various news and Gillian's tweets, it sounds like the album is almost mastered. So, I definitely think this is an older video so those "5 weeks" doesn't necessarily mean anything. I agree when you say power ballad wouldn't be good for summer, but hell - maybe that song isn't actually a single as he said this is a "potential single". Maybe it won't be a single at all or maybe it won't be a debut single but rather 3rd. Nonetheless, melody sounds promising so I am excited about it.

Here is a small 1 minute clip Shane posted on his Youtube: It is always great to see and hear him. Did I hear it right - did he say we will have to wait for 5 weeks to hear the single? Or did he say few?

Well yes, he bankrupted. However, now he signed the deal accompanied by his lawyers and it has been said that some of his earnings from the solo career will go to the creditors: Steven Cottee commented: "It certainly was an unusual transaction. We are pleased to have helped the Trustee implement an innovative solution whereby Shane can go on to enjoy a productive solo career whilst enabling his creditors to share in his financial rewards”. By the way, I'm tired on reading comments on the internet saying he deserved to go bankrupt or that because of it, he should flop. I'm not saying I read those comments here, I'm just saying I have seen many many negative comments about Shane's situation. That is sad - it is not like he gambled the money away by buying luxurious stuff, he just tried to invest with his brother and they failed. This happens every day to a lot of people.

Shane confirmed today that his EP will have the single + 3 other songs: So my first single will be an EP! So 4 new songs in total for you to hear. So excited to share them with you all x

Yeah, that truly was dumb, thanks for the info :) But I think Shane's single EP will be named after the single title, like Robbie had Different EP. And like you said, Walsh definitely learned a lot from his mistakes and I'm sure he will be more careful. I mean, I'm sure he managed Westlife better than Boyzone, it is all a learning process. Although, like you said, that Wonderland issue is more record company's fault. I noticed how London Records always backs Shane up when it is his FilanFriday, so they are invested in him. Also, organizing competitions is also very smart. I can't wait to hear EP! I won't be able to buy it, but hopefully someone will post it on Youtube :)

Not sure, but since Shane wrote "3 extra tracks", it means it could be single + 3 other songs. This is a very good move to introduce his music before the album comes. I don't think they will screw things up, we have to keep in mind that Shane is with different label than Wonderland were. I'm not familiar with EP problem the girls had though... what happened?

Shane said this on Twitter: So my 1st single is also gonna be an EP !! 3 extra tracks .. Release date coming soon ! #albumtaster #bestfansintheworld #FilanFriday

t is FilanFriday today and this time, via Facebook Shane revealed competition where you could win a signed copy of a new single. Also ShareShane is currently trending at no.5 worldwide. This probably means we won't have to wait for long to hear the new single :)

I feel the same way as you do, but we just have to be patient :D He said that the single will be out in the summer, so that could be June, July or August - that is why they aren't revealing too much. I mean, I find it strange that Union J already released a music video, a month before the single is out - it is better to do that a week before. I have a feeling that we will be getting the real news from Shane in a week or two. At least the name of the single and a release date would be nice.

It is such a nice thing that he is doing something every Friday - last Friday he decided to follow 50 people on Twitter and he retweeted some of the fans questions or statements. As a result. FilanFriday was no.1 in the UK for about 1 hour. Today he followed 25 people without any retweets and he still managed to trend at no.3 in the UK. It is great that he interacts with his fans and that he does something for that every Friday. I hope he will at least tell us the name of the first single in a couple of weeks. Looking how he gets positive feedback on social media and that journalists are reporting about his solo career, he could actually be successful - he definitely started alright.

Sara performs new song called Manhattan on her Brave tour. I think it is such a beautiful ballad, I hope this song will be on her album. I tried to embed a Youtube video but I just can't, I don't know what I am doing wrong, sorry :)

If this is really true, that he will only do 2 covers while the rest will be original - then I say, THANK GOD! The only reason why I disliked him so much is because he was always singing 70's 80's classics. He has a very good voice, but he completely ruined everything for me by constantly singing the same thing. So maybe I'll actually check out his debut now. HOWEVER, I have a feeling that these originals will sound like they came from 70's and 80's which is basically the same thing :D

This! I completely agree that Union J were a LOT better than 1D were on The X Factor. It is true that they started off very weak during first 2 shows, but as the show went on, they just got better and better. And I feel the same about the song - I love the fact that it is not so mushy. It is definitely catchy and more mature, even though the chorus IS repetitive. This is only their 1st song - who knows how the rest of the material will be. I'm just happy they are not extremely cheesy like 1D are. AND even at this stage, they are better vocalists than them, imagine how good they could get after a while. Because it is true that 1D improved a little with time...

From the 1st listening, I like this far better than What Makes You Beautiful - I'm getting tired of bubblegum teen pop, so I actually enjoy this song. It is very catchy and it doesn't sound cheesy as What Makes You Beautiful.

Well, a part of the problem with Wonderland was the fact that they were completely new in the music industry - Shane is well known and he already has a solid fanbase from the start, so he won't struggle as much as Wonderland did. I think it is important that he releases 3-4 singles which is mostly up to London Records and I don't think they would mess him up like Syco often did with Westlife. It would be great if he releases a 2nd single before the album comes out. Also, it is important that he has enough promo and exposure - lots of tv and radio performances - I hope he will have a X Factor slot even though he isn't with Syco anymore - since Walsh is still his manager and a mentor on the show, I think he could pull some strings to get him there. I remember him saying last year how Shane will appear on X Factor bootcamp and that he will sing on the show. Hopefully, this is still in the cards as this would be a great opportunity for nice promotion. But honestly, I'm just very happy he is creating something he loves even if he doesn't become hugely successful - it is a fickle business, only Robbie and Justin became extremely successful while Ronan has a decent career. So who knows - Shane could be very successful or not, it depends on various factors.

Thanks for this info - it is so great he is writing songs for himself. Wit everything he has said so far - that gives me more and more hope that his album will be completely original, if not even completely written/co-written by Shane :)
  25. I find all this argument pretty pointless for now as he doesn't even have his music out yet - who knows what songs he will record, I don't think he will do covers. We will just have to wait and see.
