Radio 1 Playlist (23/01/13)
Well when 'Bryan Adams - everything I do I do it for you' was number one for 15 or 16 weeks (or whatever it was) Radio One did stop playing it after about 12 weeks. Steve Wright even blew it off the air. These occurances are very rare and would be dealt with sensitively as the situation required it. As you see normally a song is playlisted until it exits the top ten at least. Scream and shout was just played again on Radio 1!!!

Radio 1 Playlist (23/01/13)
Replying to a few points raised...I heard Gemma play Scream and Shout at 08:50 this morning. Can anyone explain why? Before Xmas is only 5 weeks ago and the song is still number one (just). I don't consider the song burnt out yet. "Don't you worry child" is still being played since the summer! Now thats OTT and Capital like. Radio One does base its playlist around the chart normally, when it doesn't and all other stations play a song that does very well in the charts it looks out of touch with its audience and usually has to cave in and play the song as a recurrent, as it did for example with 'Kelly Clarkson Since you've been Gone'. The other thing the Radio 1 does in choosing music for the playlist is to break new artists and be upfront, take a bit of risk and ahead of Capital clones. This is welcome and is exactly what it should be doing but not at the expense of either not playing popular big hits or pulling them early. And they seem to be still playing it for now anyway...

Radio 1 Playlist (23/01/13)
I had better explain then as obviously those million times the point was brought up and you didn't get it. Radio 1 has always, is now and probably always will be based around the UK Top 40. From TOTP, to the official chart show, to the midweek updates and its 15-24 target, it must reflect the buying choices of those who listen. Therefore I'm sorry, but this is an error, a failure to serve its audience and they are going to look very stupid once again. I could reel you off a long list of other songs that they refused to play that ended up number one or very popular top tens but I doubt you would be interested. Radio stations do make errors as bad playlist decisions are made on the part of human error its just Radio One seems to cock it up quite often. Its probably something to do with being part of the BBC.

Radio 1 Playlist (23/01/13)
I already read your points but they are not relevant, as you can't get away from the fact - there are no reasonable excuses at all that anyone can give for dropping the UKs number one single from the playlist. Swedish House Mafia feat. John Martin Don't You Worry Child - still on the playlist months on. Will I Am, 2 weeks at number one and dropped. Mad Bruno Mars - Locked up in Heaven they were playing that also to death. I'm not arguing for that, just a reasonable length of time the sort of thing a national pop music station should sensibly do.

The End Of HMV
I personally think HMV had its day many years ago. Anyone trying to save it will fail and lose a lot of money in doing so. Yes its a shame but thats business today. We are living in troubled times and there are going to have to be many more closures of zombie shops and businesses before we get out of this mess. Bit of a shame but that reality. Online is the future. So far all the BoE and government are doing is prolonging the agony by stupid forced lending to via banks (FFL scheme using OUR money!) to businesses which really should have never started up or are beyond saving. Same goes for mortgage lending on overpriced houses trying to prop them up again with taxpayers money stolen from the prudent who did not create this mess. Inflation 3%. Interest rate 0.5%, absolutely crazy plus devaluation of the pound. Idiots and so far none of the parties gets it.

Radio 1 Playlist (23/01/13)
Hi all I was reading the discussion here and got so involved I registered to join in. There is absolutely no way that Radio 1 should drop the UK's number 1 song from the playlist!! Unless there are some backhanders going on with the official charts company.... If this song is still number one on sunday then Radio 1 will be looking pretty stupid AGAIN! There have been many times when they have refused to playlist a song and then it hits number one in the past and they never seem to learn from the past mistakes. So if it still is number one there will be no official UK number one on the official UK chart music station then. How stupid is that!??!? Number one or number 9, it should still be played it hasn't been on the playlist that long either. Other songs they go the other way with - play for like 15-20 weeks! A large chunk of the UK is not served by Crapital but served only by 4 or more Heart stations playing their bland music and networked dross. Radio 1 is essential in these areas even more so despite being the only commercial free station playing pop. You can come up with as many silly excuses as you like but that won't change what Radio 1 should be doing and isn't and what a stupid policy this is!
