This is the closing track to the album and talk about saving the best for last! She's really stumbled onto some catchy hooks here with the pre-chorus, the actually chorus and the post-chorus all being earworms and are sure to get stuck in your head. Again, it's a poppier moment where she shines even if this a lot slower than say a 'Have Mercy' or 'Body Do'. Chlöe seems to have taken some inspiration from her sister in the visualiser with it giving strong Ariel vibes. She's actually been beaten by her sister this year as she is still to come.

I can't wait to hear what JADE has in store for us with 'IT Girl'. Very close now! 'reincarnated' is definitely a highlight from 'GNX'. I couldn't believe when I saw that the pitchfork review apparently called it "unlistenable" Glad to see some support for 'I LUV IT' even if the feature is awful. Thank you :D

And it is a pretty happy start to the year for cinema owners with 6 films all pulling in £1 million+ grosses for the first weekend of the year. If there was no such thing as previews, 'Mufasa' would be celebrating a 3rd week at #1 but, as it is, we instead get Robert Eggers's 'Nosferatu' exceeding expectations to earn a #1 debut. After making himself one of the auteurs at the front of the wave of 'elevated horror' that has became popular of recent times with 'The Witch' and 'The Lighthouse' and proving his blockbuster chops with 'The Northman', Eggers has been able to build his reputation to earn such a strong opening for a film has sounded like it could have been a tough sell to audiences. This is a remake of the 1922 silent film of the same name which was an unauthorised adaptation of 'Dracula' after it's director F. W. Murnau couldn't get the rights for Bram Stoker's novel. The film has been a long obsession of Eggers who wanted to make it his 2nd film after 'The Witch' and had cast Anya Taylor-Joy, Harry Styles and (in a different role to the one he eventually portrays) Willem Defoe at various points during the production. The version we finally get sees Lily-Rose Depp, Nicholas Hault and, as the title character, Bill Skarsgård, in these roles. In comparison to his earlier films, 'Nosferatu' has already out-grossed ALL three of his previous releases ['The Northman (£4.7 million), ''The Lighthouse' (1.4 million) and ''The Witch' (£1.2 million)]. That's lifetime totals, not just the opening weekends! Without previews, it would have opened at #2 with £3.1 million. With previews, this is the highest opening for a horror film since 'Five Nights At Freddy's' did £5,379,587 in October 2023, although it's 3-day opening is behind that of 'Alien: Romulus' from last summer (£3,741,288). 12% of it's total so far has come from IMAX showings. A strong showing in the format for this sort of film. Opening at #3 is 'We Live In Time' (£2,843,517, £1.6 million without previews). Previews see it climb two extra places but even without them, it would be a strong opening. This is a romantic drama who's main selling point is the two leads, Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield. The most important factor in any romantic film is chemistry and those two have that in abundance. Released last October in the US by A24, it's taken a while for this film to reach our shores but it doesn't look like interest waded at any point. It's got strong reviews and I haven't seen it yet but I've heard people say that it's 'obnoxiously middle class' which puts me off a bit. It's certainly a very British film with Weetabix and Mars's Celebrations acting as plot points. I think this film should have strong weekday appeal so think it looks set to be a nice hit to start the year with. 'Mufasa: The Lion King' drops just 23% in week 3 as it has passed the £20 million barrier and started to open a gap between it and 'Sonic The Hedgehog 3' which is at £18 million and officially has a 77% drop in week 2. Although, that is obviously not very reflective on how it actually performed. It's true weekend-to-weekend drop off is 34%. It will overtake the final total of the original 'Sonic The Hedgehog' (£19.3 million) over the next few days but needs to reach £27 million before it matches 2022's sequel. 'Wicked' continues to edge ever closer to the taking the 2024 crown as it drops 39% on it's way to £57 million. It's now only about £2 million away from overtaking 'Inside Out 2'. It will definitely get there but it's not been helped by the film already being made available to watch at home. Just like Amazon did with 'Red One', they're leaving money on the table and I'm not really sure why. Still making over £1.6 million while being able to watch at home is impressive though. 'Moana 2' had a nice hold (-21%) as it climbs back above 'Wicked' on the weekend chart. It's now just behind 'Dune: Part Two' and will overtake it within the next week or so to become the 5th biggest film of 2024 in the UK. It's also pushing towards the $1 billion mark worldwide. 'Better Man' opened slightly underwhelmingly last week bit I mentioned that it could do a 'The Greatest Showman' and turn it around. After week 2, I won't say it's over yet but the signs aren't massively promising. It's dropped 41% (a more respectable 26% without previews) and it currently sitting at £3.8 million. With so much competition and every other film seeming to be performing, I'd say if 'Better Man' doesn't show some signs of life next weekend then it's going to be a disappointing result. The remaining three are all holdovers, 'Paddington In Peru', 'Gladiator II' and 'Conclave'. 'Gladiator II' has a fairly big drop (-49%) and is in danger of falling out of the top 10 next week. 'Paddington' (-18%) and 'Conclave' (-22%) are still showing strong legs. I've mentioned that it's a brilliant start for the box office in 2025 and it really is. This weekend is 37% up on the first weekend of 2024 and with an insane run of films in November, the total box office for 2024 ended up being level when compared to 2023. This is particularly impressive when we we're officially running 10% behind at the start of November. There are three further new entries in the #11-15 section: 'Nickel Boys' (#11), 'Identity' (#12) and 'Diabel' (#13). We also see a re-release of 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' enter at #15. Next week sees the openings of 'A Real Pain', 'Babygirl', 'Maria', 'The Damned, 'Standing On The Shoulders Of Kitties' and 'It's Raining Men'. 'wacced out murals' might be the best song Kendrick has released in ages. Not many songs are able to just feel menacing in the way that one does. Although I love the album, I do wish we would have got a full project with this sound as that would have been something special. 'Noid' has grew on me loads after initially thinking it was quite weak for a lead single. The sample is great and the smooth transition from 'Rah Tah Tah' into it is perfect. 'Houdini' is really good but I think the fact that 'Radical Optimism' on the whole was a big step down from 'Future Nostalgia' has soured the track for me slightly. I agree that her Glastonbury performance was great so I'm hoping that seeing her on tour this year will help win me over with the album. I'm obviously delighted to see some Ari representation in 'supernatural' & 'i wish i hated you' :wub:

‘Diet Pepsi’ reaching the top 10 was an iconic chart moment of 2024! Her EP from last year was so fun but I never saw her ever doing this well. Charli really dominated the year so good to see representation for her here. ‘360’ and ‘Apple’ are great but ‘Von dutch’ would be my pick of the three. ‘Fortnight’ grew on me so much after hearing it on tour. It’s a shame that it fell away quickly for a #1 hit. Great to see some BLACKPINK impact with ‘number one girl and ‘Mantra’. ‘Mantra’ especially is so fun and I’m glad it got Jennie another top 40 hit. ‘obsessed’ is a great rockier track from Olivia. I’m so intrigued to hear what she does next. I feel like ‘Soaked’ is really underappreciated. It has such old-school Timbaland vibes that I’ve really missed from the chart. Loving so much from your recent sections. My other faves are Illusion, Love On, Hearts on the Run, supernatural, 2 hands, Apple, Bed Chem, It’s ok I’m ok & Chanel No. 5

'So I' is a beautiful moment from BRAT. It's a really lovely tribute to SOPHIE and I'm glad it I got to see it as it got it's moment on her recent tour. 'we can't be friends (wait for your love)' is of course my favourite song so far though. :wub: Definitely a stand-out moment from the album. I'd definitely recommend watching the 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind', it's an outstanding film!

I had a ticket to see her in 2023 but she ended up having to cancel that tour due to mental health issues. After that, it was radio silence from her for a good year-and-a-half so when she announced she was returning to release music, I didn't know what to expect. The lead single proved to be great and is still to come and, in the end, I think she's comeback stronger, with this album, 'Willson' blowing her first two out of the water. This was released alongside 'I Hope you die first' as the joint 2nd singles and neither fully hit me straight away. However, the album saw both of them grow on me massively. This has such a powerful chorus that sticks with you long after you've finished listening to it. I tend to lean towards the more upbeat tracks so you know a ballad must be strong if it's making this list.

Ever since they fist reached my charts in 2020, they've had a remarkably consistent knack of racking up #1 hits (7 overall) but, despite this one missing out on top spot, it was part of ITZY's biggest takeover of my charts and their strongest era last January. All five members were simultaneously charting solo efforts alongside their 5 group efforts from the EP. I was devastated to miss out on their London show to support this EP as I know it would have been epic. The actual song is a good one from them, it has great production and a memorable hook. After coming so close with 'LOCO' in 2021, this might just be the year where they bag themselves their first EOY Top 10 placing.

'Bit Bitter' is only available from the Record Store Day exclusive release of 'The Good Witch' deluxe tracks and pretty much all my listens have been through playing the vinyl in full. I've had to link to a dodgy, low-quality rip somebody's uploaded to YouTube as that's the only way to hear it outside of the vinyl. Reaching #2 and making this chart is a very impressive achievement based on that. I LOVE this track and wish that Maisie would add it to streaming. This would have been a EOY Top 10 contender had it have been. The staccato delivery at the end of verse 2 is the catchiest moment of any song this year. It has lived rent-free in my head since April.

However, I was very impressed when I listened to her original three charting entries from the album when I was catching up with the official chart. Usually, she's released at least one song that I didn't that was made me not want to check out her albums, but 'LUNCH' really grabbed me on first listen and the other two were both decent. I ended up checking the full album out and enjoyed it (#25 in my album chart), but my highlight remained to be the lead single. This is just fun in a way that her music usually isn't. Both sonically, and visually with the video, the song does remind me of something that would have been an old Apple advert :lol: This is the first top 2 hit of the year to drop-out.

Amaarae & Flo Milli) Flo Milli's EOY History: 2024 72 Never Lose Me Flo Milli got her breakthrough hit early last year with 'Never Lose Me' and it's easy to hear why it caught on. It definitely has some Doja Cat influence with it's vibey, sing-song style of Hip-Hop but what elevates it above other similar tracks is just how catchy it is. It's melody is perfect for singing along and the lyrics are just the right amount of playful to not be too explicit. She certainly does the beat more justice than Bayface Ray and 42 Dugg did on the original use of the instrumental.

And what a way to start the album with 'Femininomenon'! It's one of the boldest swings you can imagine. It's messy, it's brash and it perfecly sums up who Chappell is and the ethos of the album. It has a truly marmite chorus that I think mostly everyone will hate on the first listen but it really manages to wear you down when you've heard the rest of the project and you tune in to the vibe. Having gone back and listened to her first EP 'School Nights', I can only imagine the whiplash any fans of hers from that EP must have experienced when they listened to this album :lol:

The title is Portuguese for 'the beautiful game' and instantly puts you to mind of the iconic Nike advert starring the Brazil national team that shares the same name. AJ is such a consistent artist and this bring is two of his frequent producers with Nyge & Remedee working together to construct the sound. AJ can ride these types of beat in his sleep and he's got this flow nailed down to perfection. I don't think there's anyone else would ride this beat so smoothly. The only issue is that it's so short, barely sneaking past two minutes. I do hope this is leading towards a new album because I think he's on his most consistent form and I could easily sit through 45 minutes of this. This is the 7th consecutive year of AJ Tracey placing in my EOY top 100 which is envious record.

When most modern songs try to recapture the sound, it just sounds like a copy but when you get a producer who was actually a star at the time, you can create something that FEELS like it's from then. But what makes this a standout is Common's rapping. This is the type of writing that only a legend who has had years in the game could write. Every time I listen to this, I discover something new in his verses and every line is so clever. It will be if a crime if any other album ends up winning the 'best rap album' Grammy.

I love how it's placed on the album as it feels like part one of 'the boy is mine' with this track talking about how the media portrays here to be a villain before she embraces it and we get the big bad-girl anthem.

Diddy bars but what should be talked about more is where he goes into his 'k alliteration' scheme where he uses 26 '/k/'s in less than 15 seconds. These two go so well together and we need to hear another collab.

It's juvenile and bluntly written without even a hint of a double entendre but the synths are great and the chorus gets stuck in your head. This is AzChike's first ever entry in my chart and, let's face it, probably his last. You can just tell that ehe call-and-response chorus on this track is going to GO OFF in live performances. The last verse where Kendrick and AzChike do it together already sounds fire. AzChike just has a really good sound and fits on this track life a glove. Kendrick referencing SupaHotFire is not something I thought I'd ever hear but it turned out to be something I very much needed.

I agree that Ari and Charli compliment each other really well. I think it's the production that stopped me from loving it more. I think 'It's ok I'm ok' deserved to go top 10 more than '2 hands' did! It's certainly stuck around more. Thank you :D

The 'mhmm' adblib in the verses makes the track. 21 has never been the most lyrical MC, although he is getting better, but it's his delivery that can make innocuous lines sound hard. For someone I wouldn't rank as one of my favourites, 21 Savage as racked up a pretty impressive chart history with this being his 10th EOY top 100 placement in just eight years.
