Last month I commented at UKmix that I was disappointed the Madonna only had 2 automatic BPI certs in 2025. In the first few weeks of 2026, Madonna has had 2 automatic certs with the BPI! What may be coming next: Music Week had an article in March 2015 about Madonna's top selling singles in the UK. Here's the Top 12: Madonna's UK Best Sellers: 1. This topic of Madonna's 80s singles + post 1994 sales + old certification levels = a massive headache for me! These 5 singles were certified in the 1980s for 500,000 in sales: Madonna Papa Don't Preach Sire Gold Single 01.08.1986 16.06.1986 (+) old cert levels: 500,000 Madonna Borderline Sire Gold Single 01.02.1986 13.01.1986 (+) old cert levels: 500,000 Madonna Crazy For You Geffen Gold Single 01.09.1985 28.05.1985 (+) old cert levels: 500,000 Madonna Into The Groove Sire Gold Single 01.08.1985 12.07.1985 (+) old cert levels: 500,000 Madonna Like A Virgin Sire Gold Single 01.01.1985 09.11.1984 (+) old cert levels: 500,000 But, since Gold is now 400,000. These singles need 200,000 in sales plus streams/units before they can be certified Platinum? To me, I would think they would only need 100,000 units to be certified Platinum. That would be easier, but of course it probably doesn't work that way. Thanks!
