  1. Haven't Chainsmokers already lasted more than a couple of years?
  2. Are these titles supposed to be related?
  3. The Bends by Radiohead is another one, even if it's a bit overshadowed by OK Computer now.
  4. Maybe it's because I'm a veteran of the Britpop era but I never particularly expected the Killers to have a Number One single. After all, Shed Seven never had one. And that Scissor Sisters song was massive.
  5. Can I be the pedant who points out that Somebody Told Me peaked at 3 in January 2005? Thanks.

I never had an Asda near me so I don't think I ever bought a single in there. Did Woolworths eventually drop the singles a few months before they closed down or am I misremembering? Anyway, 14 is wrong (presumably just hype from EMI at the time) and 12 effectively contradicts 11, doesn't it? 30 is a bit of a myth and the second half of 6 isn't quite right because SFA broke their own record with the extended live version of 'The Man Don't Give...'. 33 is debatable (I wouldn't have classed 'If I Let You Go' as a ballad). But this is a lot better than the usual articles like this.

I've done the playlist for this. Again, 'Diva' and 'Hold Up' weren't available, whilst 'Toca Me' is only in a remix form and 'Holiday' is in a medley with 'Boulevard Of Broken Dreams' so you'll have to use your skip button. https://open.spotify.com/user/nowthats/play...hPA8KBlHYdM4Goa

I've made a playlist of just the wildcard tracks to save people scanning through the main one and give the pre-2000 songs a bit more of a chance. https://open.spotify.com/user/nowthats/play...4mgliydXYvPUyTq 'Diva' isn't on Spotify but you all know it anyway.

So I guess Simply Red are the unluckiest act in this: five eligible tracks and not one has gone through.

  14. I presume those names I don't recognise are all X-Factor contestants or something.
  15. That's a random choice of song there. Did he have a spare backing track lying around?

Like quite a few of these groups, it includes a song I like by an act I generally dislike and one I don't like by an act I do like. No names though. In this case, the Clubhouse having a hit in the early 80s are the same people who had a bigger hit in the 90s, but the song isn't very similar.

I've got that reissue of 'House Of The Rising Sun' on picture disc! Tracklisting of the Levellers EP In case anyone was interested: 15 Years; Dance Before The Storm; The River Flow (live); Plastic Jeezus And for the benefit of younger readers, the Enigma who had a hit in 1981 were not the same ones who did 'Sadness Part 1' and 'Return To Innocence' in the 90s.

It reached 9 as a double-A-side with 'Do You Believe In Love' the following year. But yeah, Huey & The News weren't that successful a singles chart act in the UK considering how big they seemed at the time. Or maybe people buying records in 1985 were just confused by too many songs called The Power Of Love.?

Couple of notes: The 3T song is called 24/ 7 As most people probably know, "Artist" in 1996 was a pseudonym for Prince Simply Red's Montreux EP was live versions of: 'Love For Sale', 'Drown In My Own Tears', 'Grandma's Hands' and 'Lady Godiva's Room'. The last one was the promoted track.

This group includes what might actually be my least favourite Number 11 hit of all time, but I won't say what it is yet. Also includes a track that I acquired earlier today (I bought the album in a charity shop). Now to narrow down the 13 possibles into actual votes.

I wonder whether Primal Scream would have done better if they weren't listed under the EP title?
  25. She is actually, but that's wrong as well. I mean, I know people might have their own views on them generally, but in this context the point is that Little Mix were dressed like Little Mix, which is exactly what they should have done.
