Yeah, Grace Jones missed the T200 last week so possibly they are being treated as budget (both were knocked down from £3:99, but that was a speacial offer anyway).

I presume you mean "completely foreign language" there, since Jane Birkin is of course British. Apparently Max Romeo claimed that the song 'Wet Dream' was about him renting a flat where the ceiling leaked above his bed. I don't think a lot of people believed him.

Duane Eddy himself doesn't sing, though, so I'd still count him as an instrumentalist.

Despite his lack of chart success, by an odd little quirk of alphabetisation Nick Drake ends up in the same update as Stephen Duffy (who named a band after one of his lyrics) and Dream Academy (whose biggest hit was supposedly about him).

I was going to be really pedantic and point out that David Devant & His Spirit Wife is a group name to, since he wasn't in the band. Not that they'd move very far anyway in that case.

I don't think either song is any good but at least Cheryl doesn't spell her name in ALL CAPS.

I thought Del Amitri were fairly well-known for not having a UK Top 10, though of course they did have one in the US. Indeed, I think they're the only act to have been in both the US Top 10 and my Granny's living room, but that's another story. On a digression, two of my favourite indie acts in this section too, Delays and the Delgados. And also Delakota who had a couple of brilliant singles, especially 'The Rock'.

Maybe he makes the music instead of raving and repeating instead?

I'm pretty sure they have a computer to check that, not some member of staff having to go through them all. But I agree that they won't necessarily impose chart eligibility rules on their own feed, any more than iTunes do.

Listening to a Bobby Womack singles compilation now. Seems a fair start.
