  1. I'm surprised James Arthur is still getting one after all his recent antics.
  2. Stretching the definition of a self-penned song there, since he ripped most of it off from Bob Dylan. In fact until I looked it up I assumed it was just a cover of the Dylan song. AFAICT, the last Top 75 hit he had a justified writing credit on was 'Lady Luck' in 1995 - he's credited on 'Purple Heather' in 1996 but that's just an arrangement of a traditional song.
  3. Am I the only one who thinks Bastille should have slipped in a bit of 'Fascinating Rhythm' as well to make the theme more effective?
  4. Also the Up All Night compilation was reissued just after the XF appearance with a new track listing, which included some big names not on the first version, so it would have climbed somewhat anyway.
  5. Autorip on vinyl is a thing: http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=amb_link_174...;pf_rd_i=520022 Of course, many LPs do come with download codes now, but you don't get to use them until it arrives.
  6. No, but it could be his first since 'South Of The Border' in 1997.
  7. Irrelevant pop fact: Now 35 was the last Now album to get released on vinyl - and the first track on it is 'Say You'll Be There', which starts with a sound effect of crackling vinyl record. I think the last Now cassette was 64.
  8. It's been made album-only [because that's the way record companies think] so presumably people are pre-ordering a single version instead.
  9. Presumably Spice sold a lot of cassettes then, which would make sense given their target market.
  10. Why? Jameela doesn't chose the playlist.

Who says it's a stronger album? And even if it is, how many people would know before they bought it?

There, fixed it for you. :teresa:
  13. He's uploaded a full version now:
  14. It's an outtake from the So album - you can hear some of it here:
  15. They obviously will have paid something but I think the reason it's there is because Sony now own half the Now! Music brand (Universal had to sell part of it to get regulatory approval for their takeover of EMI).
  16. Didn't realise we already knew the title of this week's Bieber song.

As far as I know, iTunes is the only major download site that offers instant grat tracks, or Complete My Album. I did get one once when I ordered an Eels album from their official store though - I got one track when I ordered, the full digital album on the release date and the physical album when it was pressed. Which turned out to be three months later. Yes, in the Bowie case they did get split sales, and since the standalone sales were enough for it to go T10 they must have been a big proportion of the total. Obviously it's technically possible (indeed necessary) for iTunes to know which sales are tied to pre-orders and which aren't, but either they or the labels must generally be unwilling to divulge it.
  18. Yeah, 'One For The Road' is officially confirmed as a single, it's coming out on 7" in December.

Yeah, I can't hear any resemblance to 'Sunchyme' apart from the fact that I don't like either of them very much.
  20. 'What Do You Want' and 'What Do You Want To Make Those Eyes At Me For' were jointly Number One for a week in 1959. Obviously they had several weeks at separate T3 positions either side of that too.
  21. Actually, The Velvet Underground & Nico eventually charted in 2002 (which I think was when the first deluxe edition came out). It peaked at 59. The other three studio albums have never made the Top 75 (not that it was a Top 75 when they were released of course). It's not a live album though, it's a remix album. Their first one of those peaked at 3, although I would expect this to do less well.
  22. Here's another Kiwi act who only went T75 on albums here: g36PA8z50W8
  23. If album sales are low, isn't that all the more reason to work hard on improving them?

  25. Presumably Tinie Tempah is releasing on Monday for the same reason as 1D?
