XTC had three consecutive albums named after a lyric from the previous one. They said the first two were accidental so they did another one on purpose.

I'm not sure whether to go in now or wait and see if I recognise any more of them.

Some interesting questions here - I think I've got an answer for all of them but as one of the older people here I worry I'm not going to think of the same ones as the rest of you... Can I assume that in questions like 1, 4 & 9, "song" means "charting single"?

Yeah, I'm glad I didn't bother entering this one, I hardly recognise any of them even when I can see the whole pictures.

Sadly it's not Geddy Lee doing the explaining, so we don't get to find out whether he speaks like an ordinary guy... I actually thought that was OK, in a very Canadian way.

Nat "King" Cole, Robert Downey Jr and Michael Jackson all recorded the same 'Smile'. I don't remember the Katherine Crowe version at all but as it seems to have a picture of Charlie Chaplin on the cover I'm guessing that's the same song too.

I remember 'Star' by Primal Scream - it's from Vanishing Point, which is their best album (don't @ me) I also remember the controversy over the lyric which implied that Rosa Parks was dead, even though she wasn't. She lived another 8 years. ps - 'Girls' by the Beastie Boys was part of a double A-side.

I think the point is that 'Believe' wasn't a charity single, wasn't associated with an outside sporting event, wasn't even an old recording revived or reworked, it was just a normal single by a popular act, selling on its own merits (and to her existing fans of course).

I presume It's Not The End Of the World? by Super Furry Animals is excluded for the same reasons as Jay Sean. I had to vote for R.E.M. even though it was originally released in the 80s (not a Top 40 hit until 91 though of course)

i wouldn't, but if you did you'd have to count 'Tonight Tonight' by the Smashing Pumpkins as well. Did you include the Westlife one?

I would have voted for the original of 'Owner Of A Lonely Heart' but that obviously isn't eligible.

Didn't Duke Dumont say for years he wasn't going to make an album? I wonder if he'll wish he hadn't bothered now.

I've seen a lot of copies of that Corrine BR album in charity shops over the years, so I could easily recognise it. Maybe I should have bought one. EDIT: maybe I should learnt how to spell her name too.

I'm not very familiar with the Meat Loaf cover, but I am a member of the Bat Conservation Trust. And I recognised the style.

Well, I've remembered a couple of the titles since the other day... Ah, I'm going to send in what I've got anyway.

On first pass I've got 38 artists and about 32 titles, so I'll have another look/think in a day or two.

Noting that 'Dancing In The Moonlight' was produced by a different person from the rest of the album fits with it being last-minute addition, so my guess is that the label originally intended to release the album in 1999 but decided it needed one more hit. I definitely remember it coming out after Dancing In The Moonlight, (which I hated) and I do remember the first two singles coming out so I'm sure I'd have noticed if there was an early release of the album at that point. I also recall it was re-released later in 2000 to add yet another single 'Just Hold On'.

Considering how long One Dance was up there, I'm surprised he's had time for 4 more.

Unless someone invents a way to refund time, that's true.
