iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 9th March 2018
Back in the days when the NME still had a print edition, there was once a headline on the front that said: "DRILL AND BASS - In search of DJ Tiny Penis". They didn't find him.

Top 100 Singles Countdown
Ironic timing that the screenshot of that Tony Christie video is Jim Bowen.

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 9th March 2018
Michael McDonald was live on Radio 2 yesterday. I presume he didn't come all the way over here just to do that so I'd guess he's been on TV as well.

OCC: Best Selling Singles from the 60s
Surely lots of people under 50 would know Release Me from all the adverts it's been in. Or as the theme from the Fast Show.

iTunes Album Chart ~ 2018
I can believe Editors' sales would be more physical-oriented than Callum Scott's - but even so he's doing better than I thought off the back of one hit that seems ages ago.

How long will The Greatest Showman soundtrack stay at #1?
115 weeks for South Pacific.

Official Chart Flashback
This is also the chart for the week I was born. #old Some greats in there though. Obviously Wuthering Heights, Baker Street, Every 1's A Winner, Love Is Like Oxygen, Follow You Follow Me. And All Right Now although of course that was already an old song then. Pity Shot By Both Sides and Lovely Day had just dropped out of the chart really.

List of records that peaked at Number 41
I have added 21 Savage to the playlist and also put in a few other tracks that were previously unavailable including Def Leppard, Quadrophonia and Bananarama. Plus a House Of Love track I must have just forgotten about. Might as well post the link again: https://open.spotify.com/user/nowthats/play...uRWy78jLEoKe5vg

YTD T40 Albums (with estimated sales)
Vidcapper has asked me to mention that he's having trouble logging into Buzzjack so the next lot of YTDs may be delayed. He'll still be able to post them on Haven though.

Hits from artists you never expected to get another hit
Not sure the Beatles really count - as soon as 'Free As A Bird' was announced it was obvious it would become a hit. And they'd had a hit earlier in 1995 anyway.

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 2nd February 2017
I thought that was the whole point of Justin Timberlake? I mean he's a good singer, good dancer and has done some good songs over the years but he's never struck me as a particularly soulful performer. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing.

Famous bands that would have been dropped these days.
David Bowie did get dropped after his first album anyway.
-
Adele facts and sales
That David Jordan song is definitely the most forgotten in the Top 10, possibly because it was his only hit. I remember people at the time saying it sounded like the theme tune to Wizbit.

Official Chart Flashback
I notice the Fall are a Top 75 entry in that 1988 chart. Coincidentally both they and the Stranglers were charting at the same time with covers of songs by the Kinks. A couple of weeks later they were right next to each other in the chart too.

Bargain Bin - Black Friday
Yeah, it seems like it's going to be a repackage of the 30th anniversary edition (which came out when the actual anniversary was) but I thought I'd chance my arm and order it at that price.

Favourite God hit
I voted for this, by the way. d1siktyfFxY One of the best pop songs ever about agnosticism.
-
Favourite God hit
Nope. I only know about it because my wife mentioned it... and decided to move to the UK shortly afterwards. I'm not saying that song was the reason but I'm not not saying it either. I didn't actually realise you were allowed multiple votes.

Official Chart Flashback
Way late to this, but 'Happy' was the fourth Top 40 hit for Travis (and the first not to chart higher than their previous single, fact fans). 'High' was indeed the first Top 40 for Feeder even though they seemed to have been around for a while by then.

Bargain Bin - Black Friday
May also be worth noting that you can download the boxed set of the first four Cranberries albums with the bonus tracks for £12:99 on Amazon. Not sure how it's priced elsewhere: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Treasure-Box-Compl...-bin%3A78186031

List of records that peaked at Number 41
Have added 21 Savage to the playlist. Turns out I didn't need to remove Lana or Little Mix.

Top 100 Best Selling Albums Of The Decade....So Far!
You do see a lot of copies of Progress in charity shops these days. I may end up buying one.

The BRIT Awards 2018
I don't see how they could nominate George Michael? I know David Bowie and Leonard Cohen were nominated last year, but they had released new albums shortly before they died. George Micheal last released a new album in 2004.

80's classics that flopped in the UK
That's the second mention of 'Seven Wonders' in this thread. I didn't realise it was *that* well-known in the UK, although obviously the album was very big. Time to mention that the UK chart peaks of the singles from Tango In The Night were, in chronological order: 9-56-5-54-4-60 I'd also like to put in a mention for their 1982 song 'Hold Me' which was a US Top 10 but missed the UK Top 75 twice.

Bargain Bin - Black Friday
Not an act who get a lot of mentions on Buzzjack but one of my favourites: The Isley Brothers... 282 tracks for under a tenner! https://www.junodownload.com/products/the-i...and/3097048-02/ (I know quite a few of them are alternative versions and stuff, but still that's a lot of Isleys).

10 Years Ago Today...
Coincidentally, this was the chart I chose to showcase over on Usenet this week, so if you happen to want a Spotify playlist of it, here's one I made earlier: https://open.spotify.com/user/nowthats/play...1LNRIubk8dMrNOm Of course 'Rockstar' wouldn't have been a held-back release anyway, as it was from an album that came out in 2005.
