+5: 24kGoldn feat. iann dior - Mood +4: Drake feat. Lil Durk - Laugh Now Cry Later +3: Cardi B feat. Megan Thee Stallion - WAP +2: Headie One feat. AJ Tracey & Stormzy - Ain't It Different +1: Nathan Dawe feat. KSI - Lighter -1: DJ Khaled feat. Drake - GREECE -2: Joel Corry feat. MNEK - Head & Heart -3: AJ Tracey & Mabel - West Ten -4: Pop Smoke feat. Lil Tjay - Mood Swings -5: Harry Styles - Watermelon Sugar I feel like this is my favourite top 10 of the last 2-3 months! I also noticed today that I've had 7 different +5s in the last 8 weeks - 'Come & Go', 'Head & Heart', 'cardigan', 'Lighter', 'WAP', 'Laugh Now Cry Later' (2 weeks) and now 'Mood' :P Poor my 2 favourite songs in that list being the 2 one-weekers but 'Mood' is my next favourite ~

Ah yes of course, I thought of 5SOS but only their older songs somehow

'Ain't It Different' reaching #3 is very surprising :o It's a huge improvement for Headie One whose previous top 10 hits as lead artist had chart runs of 10 ('18HUNNA') and 9-10-10 ('Only You Freestyle') (his Stormzy feature 'Audacity' made #6). Makes sense that it's a lot more accessible (as will be seen when it probably spends longer in the chart than all those combined) but I still wouldn't have expected it higher than 'Dinner Guest' levels (which peaked at #6). BTS have matched the reshuffle placing of what I think (?) is the last top 10 hit by a Korean artist.... 'Baby Shark' :magic: 'Baby Shark' had -13 points (with the same number of voters) so BTS win. The only other Korean top 10 hits I can think of are 'Gangnam Style' (which charted so long that it almost hit both extremes: 1-1-4-6-5-2-5-8-7-5-7-9-9-8-4-9-7) and 'Gentleman' (which made #9). (Meanwhile, was the last boyband top 10 hit... One Direction's 'History'? I hadn't thought about this until now and I can't think of a more recent one!)

  5. Ouch at 'Coming Home' falling from top 50 to bottom 10 - I gave it 52% of its points. 'This Ain't Love' getting 57 points from... only 3 voters! And it's more popular than a (very low bar of an) international #1 hit :cheer: 'Fade Out Lines' climbing and 'Lane Boy' doing well ^_^ Glad other people appreciated that choice. RIP 'Here For You'. Impressive for Courtney Barnett - personally it was the first song of hers I was familiar with, but I prefer 'Depreston' and 'Dead Fox'. I am free of having to nominate 'Never Forget You' again next year :') Wow 'Clearest Blue' an AQ!!!! Excellent to see. I was really expecting 'Leave A Trace' to beat it again! 'Ocean Drive' entering the top 20 (and 'Let It Happen' holding) *.*
  6. Nice to see 'Lullaby' and 'Your Love' get solid points as songs that aren't usually in here and probably aren't often remembered. 'Stolen Dance', 'She Looks So Perfect' and 'Nobody To Love' losing their AQs  And 'Walking With Elephants', 'Changes' AND 'Jubel' (literally 3 of my top 5, alongside 2 mentioned above) dropping out of the top 20, wtf :snif: 'Team' and 'Timber' are strong replacements though. Wow at 'If I Could Change Your Mind' #7?! I loved them in 2013 but I never cared about that song at all (in fairness I probably haven't heard it in 5+ years now). WD Katy B.
  7. I think it does that anytime a song is unavailable in the country you're in, even if you have the 'show unavailable songs' setting enabled. For example, there's no #2 in the Sweden top 50 for me (it should be Carola & Zara Larsson - Säg Mig Var Du Står which is unavailable here).
  8. 2017 Kim Petras - Hillside Boys AJR feat. Rivers Cuomo - Sober Up I will nominate just those 2 so I have 7 spots left for the last 2 years ~ but *copy-pastes* I support the concept of these in particular if anyone else wants to nominate them Taylor Swift - Call It What You Want Taylor Swift - Getaway Car The Veronicas - In My Blood Sigala - Say You Do Glass Animals - Youth Mitski - Your Best American Girl BROCKHAMPTON - SWEET G-Eazy - No Limit (feat. A$AP Rocky and Cardi B)

:magic: The jpeg artifacts on the usual banner have been bugging me for like... 2 years, so I've finally made a new version by replicating the text (thanks to this app for identifying the fonts for me - Nova Solid and Roundy Rainbows if curious), and merging it with this background I'd made once last year. If you hate it and want the usual one (or perhaps the jpeg-free original blue version) back, let me know! WD to 'Laugh Now Cry Later' doing what poor brave 'Toosie Slide' (and also its fellow horns-based hip hop top 10 hit 'MIDDLE CHILD') could not and making the top 7 :cheer: In fact, it ties 'GREECE' as his best placing in... a while. Yep, this is quite likely now that there are 11 singles and 2 sort-of-promo-singles. The gulf in Spotify playcounts between the singles and album tracks is huge (presented in tracklist order because it's most striking this way): 004,237,822 - Tick Tock (with Clean Bandit ft. 24kGoldn) 022,238,988 - West Ten (with AJ Tracey) 001,005,730 - High Expectations - Intro 016,832,339 - Bad Behaviour 590,923,121 - Don't Call Me Up 001,928,472 - FML 001,751,987 - We Don't Say... 004,625,169 - Selfish Love (with Kamille) 000,922,202 - Lucky - Interlude 205,232,719 - Mad Love 001,558,205 - Trouble 001,774,797 - Put Your Name On It 000,831,874 - Stckhlm Syndrome - Interlude 033,537,898 - OK (Anxiety Anthem) 000,936,223 - I Belong To Me 000,695,865 - High Expectations - Outro 061,895,863 - Boyfriend 082,544,754 - Finders Keepers (feat. Kojo Funds) 048,558,558 - Fine Line (with Not3s) 063,373,687 - My Lover (with Not3s) 102,623,848 - Ring Ring (with Jax Jones feat. Rich The Kid) 049,713,160 - Cigarette (with RAYE & Stefflon Don) 001,024,100 - Not Sayin' 116,204,544 - God Is A Dancer (Tiësto & Mabel) And even though some of those old hits aren't getting a lot of plays anymore, they're still easily outdoing the album tracks. These are their plays in the last 4 weeks (worldwide of course, which may be more slanted towards the singles than the UK alone would be, but still): 14,055,364 - Don't Call Me Up 10,801,633 - West Ten (with AJ Tracey) 5,918,652 - Boyfriend 5,076,838 - God Is A Dancer (Tiësto & Mabel) 4,913,889 - Mad Love 4,237,822 - Tick Tock (with Clean Bandit ft. 24kGoldn) 924,111 - Ring Ring (with Jax Jones feat. Rich The Kid) 839,290 - OK (Anxiety Anthem) 724,623 - Finders Keepers (feat. Kojo Funds) 662,813 - My Lover (with Not3s) 545,494 - Cigarette (with RAYE & Stefflon Don) 397,183 - Fine Line (with Not3s) 351,801 - Bad Behaviour 140,441 - Selfish Love (with Kamille) 56,289 - Put Your Name On It 42,191 - Trouble 38,684 - Not Sayin' 37,854 - FML 34,192 - We Don't Say... 22,038 - I Belong To Me 20,547 - High Expectations - Intro 20,219 - Stckhlm Syndrome - Interlude 19,955 - Lucky - Interlude 14,274 - High Expectations - Outro Also on that note, I feel like one of the most outstanding (and fascinating) things is how they don't just insert new singles onto the album; they add them at the start and then move them to the end once they're done. These are the editions of the album I can find on Spotify: 20 tracks: the original standard 14 tracks + 'Finders Keepers', 'Fine Line', 'My Lover', 'Ring Ring' and 'Cigarette' tacked on, and 'Not Sayin'' (I have no idea why this random track is placed there) 21 tracks: 'God Is A Dancer' inserted at track 1 22 tracks: 'Boyfriend' placed as track 1; 'God Is A Dancer' moved to the end of disc 2 23 tracks: 'West Ten' placed as track 1; 'Boyfriend' moved to the start of disc 2 (not even a new non-collab is worth keeping as part of disc 1!) 24 tracks: 'Tick Tock' placed as track 1, but with 'West Ten' kept as track 2 this time because hey it's still in the top 10

  18. Ben Pearce up 4! If I keep nominating him he might become an AQ in... 2029. 'Booyah' is too low. 'Afterglow' plummeting is completely wrong and I can only presume half of its votes somehow got subsumed by Becky Hill's album. Wow what happened to 'I Could Be The One' :o and I barely know of that Jessie Ware song, surprised it's so popular. Great climb for 'Tennis Court'!
  19. 'm.A.A.d city' getting 62 points from only 3 voters is pretty impressive! WD 'Benediction' a non-mover; shame about the large 'Tidal Wave' fall and aww 'Oblivion' so close. Nicely done 'Running To The Sea' riding off the AF Idol hype (possibly). Ouch 'Primadonna' and especially 'Figure 8' And 'Born To Die' losing its top 5 slot too, RIP to what was probably one of the best years for my faves. Wow at the shakeup with 'Euphoria', and 'Ride' so high is very surprising but welcome.
  20. Sure why not 2014 Professor Green feat. I have no idea how that chart works, but could it be to do with counting exactly which album a track is played from? For example, on Spotify, all of LSD's singles and all the ZAYN singles from that album were deleted long ago, so all plays of those songs would be from the albums. Even if you'd added, say, 'Sour Diesel' (#promo) to a playlist when it was a single and go to play it now, it plays it from the album (as the single is gone, but it's the same track so it picks a version that is available). It's not an obvious difference since the audio is identical, but you do see the album cover instead of the single cover. On the other hand, almost all of Mabel's singles are individually available (at least in Australia). If I search 'Boyfriend', the single version is the first result (and the album version is buried below all the remixes). If I search 'Don't Call Me Up', the mixtape and single versions are first and the album version is much lower (probably not helped by them repeatedly deleting and re-uploading it to add new tracks). If I search 'West Ten', it doesn't even have an album version (it's on the album but not uploaded as a track on it; if I play it from the album, it shows the single cover). So whether you search one of her singles and click on the first result that comes up, or listen to a playlist that has the single version, the play would probably come from the single. Incidentally, this is why I feel the idea of assigning streams to which album they were played from wouldn't work - because what percentage of plays come from someone (a) searching the track and (b) deciding which version to play (out of single/album/compilation/etc versions that are all identical audio-wise) for any reason other than which comes up first? I do but I'm probably in the 0.01%. It would put a lot of stock into how Spotify's search algorithm orders results, but even more so, into meaningless differences like whether a track on a playlist (personal or curated) is the single or album version, or whether an artist's singles get deleted or not. (Theoretically, if they were somehow that desperate, Elton/Queen/etc could even delete the album versions of their hits so all plays would be fed to the compilations - it's rare but there are occasionally cases like that; for example, although the Stereophonics album that includes 'Dakota' is on Spotify here, the song is only uploaded as part of their GH, so if I click play on it from the album, it gets it from the GH.)
  24. Interesting at 'Unfriend You' being Greyson's best performer - I remember people liking it but I think I'd have sooner guessed 'Summertrain' (maybe because I voted it, or because it was the first 'fetus Greyson subverts expectations' entry). I didn't realise he got at least 5 votes every time but the final, that's impressive! Ah nice to see commentary from the people who entered the artists, one of Joseph's artists being first didn't give that away :kink: Honestly I think a longer-running country artist like Miranda/Carrie would've worked better, because I feel like Maren had to stretch a small discography pretty thin and kept ending up low in my ranks for that reason, except when she got to send a real highlight like 'My Church'. On the other hand I think Hailee did surprisingly well at finding a good choice for each round despite having no albums! I kinda love that you regret not sending 'Woke Up Late' because it even being in consideration (unless there were no other options) is more than I expected :kink: Most of Pixie's career passed me by at the time because everything before 'Nasty' is before I started following the UK charts, so it was nice to gain some more familiarity with her lesser hits / hear a few album tracks. I would've liked 'Kiss The Stars' (and 'Nasty' but I'm not sure if that has many fans) to be sent though over one of the ballads! I suppose #12 is good for Kim as an artist with no hits but I feel like she had more potential! There are numerous more songs of hers that I think could've been well-received - eg 'Sweet Spot' (check it out if you like 'Love At First Sight'-era Kylie), 'Hillside Boys' (the song that got me hooked on her and still one of my 2 ultimate favourites; check it out if you like 'Teenage Dream'-era Katy Perry), 'Blow It All', 'Slow It Down' for a ballad moment, etc. Yes for 'Sweet Dreams My L.A. Ex' being S Club 7's highest *.* It's funny how wildly their results vary from #16 for the album tracks to #2-#3 for the singles. Except 'S Club Party' - kind of wish that had ended up in an easier round as it's my favourite of theirs but ended up #9 for me. Honestly I would've been more interested in hearing more of Rachel's music though (apart from the fact that, since her music isn't on Spotify here but S Club 7's certainly is, the latter is a lot more convenient ), and again I'm surprised you didn't utilise more of her (it feels like it was just 'Sweet Dreams My L.A. Ex' and a couple album tracks when there were no better options) but I guess it makes sense if the group was the priority. I think I might've learnt at some point where 'Inc' came from but had long forgotten, thank you  Gorillaz were a nice presence and I also wasn't really familiar with them beyond the big 3 (and even then I barely knew 'Clint Eastwood' until a few years ago), a few 2010 tracks and various 2017-present stuff, and I enjoyed most of their entries. Currently listening to 'Sweepstakes' and liking it but I expected something more abrasive :kink: Coldplay may have been one of my less-preferred artists in here (though there are various other hits of theirs I'd have been much more likely to vote, eg 'Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall', 'Clocks', 'A Sky Full Of Stars', 'Something Just Like This' lol) but 'Lovers In Japan' and 'Violet Hill' in 2 consecutive rounds (both #2 in my ranks) was a moment *.* Well done on ticking off almost every album. It would've made a difference to the stats thread not being only me for like half the rounds! :kink: Kind of surprised Mariah isn't higher but I suppose it makes sense with her varying results. Impressive at 'Prisoner' being the most voted song but I do feel like that was the weakest round - it was my #1 there but I'd definitely pick 'You Need Me' as my favourite discovery from her! I'm glad you chose Mariah but if you had chosen Troye, maybe the final could've had 3 Zedd songs :magic: Ok wow at 'If' being Janet's worst performer, that's a real shame though probably down to being a free choice round. She was a good pick for this! She had some strong album tracks I hadn't heard before, particularly 'What About'. The one thing I'd change is replacing 'Scream' with 'Black Cat' (video mix), which is probably my favourite song of hers nowadays, and being a rock song would probably subvert expectations. It makes a nice complement to Mariah's 'You Need Me' in fact. Tinashe did impressively well with her album tracks. I'm glad my top 2 non-features of hers ('Company' and 'Ghetto Boy') both got to be sent  Oh wow at Röyksopp top 5! I didn't realise they did quite that well overall. A great choice as I indeed didn't know a lot from them - ftr the songs I knew were 'Running To The Sea', 'Do It Again', 'Monument', 'Sordid Affair' and 'Never Ever' (and slightly 'The Girl And The Robot'), all of which I'd enjoyed at the time, but most of their career was probably ~before my time~ to have heard first-hand. I think 'Only This Moment' is my favourite discovery from all the artists in the contest! Interesting then that it's their worst result apart from the final. (I also hadn't really listened to 'Running To The Sea' in years and it sounds a lot more special now.) My tables getting mentioned in the write-up :cheeseblock: Thanks for your interest in following them! Funny that, as I kept noting in the stats thread, The Weeknd got half his songs top 5 and the other half all bottom 2 for me, but his results are so consistent here  I think I'm just not really into his 'pure pop' songs (not counting 'Starboy' as one). I really liked 'The Birds Pt. 1' and 'High For This' though so thanks for those! Me when the spin-off was announced: So Kelly was always a very logical choice to me! I agree that 'Sober' would've been better in the downtempo round, I feel bad for ranking it only #14 but it had tough competition. I know you picked 'My Life...' over 'Never Again' (or others) because her performance had been shaky prior but considering how well she did after, I wish 'Never Again' had gotten a chance! ha at Tove's best and worst performers both having 'drugs' in the title  Poor 'Not On Drugs' though. Would've liked to see 'Disco Tits' at some point but she had a good run, and really ended on a high with 'Stay High' (remix)! Wasn't even sure which version of 'Habits' you'd send. I've seen Carly's face from that photo photoshopped in things so many times (I think? I can't remember where/what) that the photo just looks wrong to me  (or maybe it's just a weird angle). Not 'Want You In My Room' being her worst performer though  Thanks mods for running this!

'WAP' was interestingly not that controversial here; it only received one -5. 'Watermelon Sugar' actually has a higher standard deviation. Pop Smoke's 'Mood Swings' places at #10 whereas his prior top 10 hit 'The Woo' made #9, but that's more due to 'The Woo' being held off by 'Rover' doing worse. 'Mood Swings' has much better points (-71 vs. -102)... which is not a fair comparison because that week had much more voters, but 'Mood Swings' has a better average too (-2.63 vs. -2.68).
