AF IDOL SPIN-OFF: Round 1 Voting
1. Janet Jackson - What Have You Done For Me Lately 2. Röyksopp feat. Robyn - The Girl And The Robot 3. Hailee Steinfeld & BloodPop® - Capital Letters 4. The Weeknd - The Hills 5. Tove Lo - Talking Body (this has stuck with me really strongly over the years for a song I didn't care much for at the time) 6. Carly Rae Jepsen - Cut To The Feeling 7. Tinashe - Player 8. Pixie Lott - Boys And Girls 9. S Club 7 - S Club Party 10. Greyson Chance - shut up (I do know this song ^_^) 11. Kim Petras - There Will Be Blood (probably an underwhelming first rank as she's the artist I was most glad to see chosen, but this is only my... 31st most played song of hers! and it's still very solid) 12. Gorillaz - DARE 13. Mariah Carey - Vision Of Love 14. Kelly Clarkson - Sober (I like this and everything up) 15. Maren Morris - 80s Mercedes (and this one is my least familiar song) 16. Coldplay - Yellow (but I've never liked this lol)

Most number 1s on chart simultaneously?
Ah thanks for pointing that out! The 15.0 average for the first 19 weeks of 2020 drops to 14.18 if I exclude 'Perfect' (but of course like you said it might have still made the top 100 in some weeks, or been replaced by another old song).

Most number 1s on chart simultaneously?
^ Thank you! It's good to have that info in one place. I didn't realise the 76-100 rule existed for over 20 years, and forgot which direction the sell-off rule worked in.

Most number 1s on chart simultaneously?
An interesting idea! This is the amount of songs that had been charting for 11+ weeks in each chart: Note that the several 0s in 1992 are from when the OCC only has top 75s, not top 100s (in this table, that's week 14 of 1991 to week 5 of 1994). Among those, there's one week (W/E 18/01/1992) where the oldest song was on 9 weeks (Michael Jackson's 'Black Or White'), although 'Bohemian Rhapsody' was #1 so it only counts because the OCC have it separate from its original run. There are 6 weeks in 1990 and early 1991 though where 99/100 songs were on 10 or less weeks. I believe the late '90s and/or early '00s would also be affected by rules removing old songs below #75 and the budget chart rule (?) removing songs below #40 (?) after falling at a certain rate (?) but, evidently from the question marks, I can't remember exactly how those worked or which years they were. The record is 68, shared by W/E 07/01/2016 and 07/04/2016. I added a column of averages on the right because there's not an obvious shift from streaming or ACR without it, but the averages show that 2015-2016 (streaming and no ACR) were the highest, and 2018-2020 (streaming and ACR) have been the lowest since 2007. Also note the sudden drop in March 2017 due to Stormzy, Ed Sheeran and Drake's albums being released and getting a heap of chart entries in close succession. Songs that had been charting for 21+ weeks: Songs that had been charting for 41+ weeks: 1990 and early 1994 are re-entries of 'White Lines (Don't Do It)'; the run in 1993 is a reissue of FGTH's 'Relax' that the OCC have merged with the original; 1995 is 'Love Is All Around'; all the numbers in 1996, 1997 and early 1998 are entirely from Oasis singles and The Prodigy's 'Firestarter'; the isolated few in mid-to-late 1998 are 'Bitter Sweet Symphony' and the Teletubbies; all the late 1998, 1999 and early 2000 ones are Robbie Williams' 'Angels'; the 2003 one is a reissue of 'Born Slippy .NUXX' combined with the original; the run in late 2005 is a reissue of Faithless' 'Insomnia' combined with the original. The record of 21 songs on W/E 07/01/2016 has this mix of long charters and what Christmas songs could muster enough streams from a tracking week of 25-31 December: 37 11 72 2 ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS YOU MARIAH CAREY 39 37 43 3 WHERE ARE U NOW SKRILLEX & DIPLO/JUSTIN BIEBER 46 13 79 2 FAIRYTALE OF NEW YORK POGUES FT KIRSTY MACCOLL 48 46 44 2 LEAN ON MAJOR LAZER FT MO & DJ SNAKE 50 67 59 15 PHOTOGRAPH ED SHEERAN 54 18 42 14 LAST CHRISTMAS WHAM 55 71 56 1 UPTOWN FUNK MARK RONSON FT BRUNO MARS 57 77 52 1 CHEERLEADER (FELIX JAEHN REMIX) OMI 60 87 41 1 HOLD MY HAND JESS GLYNNE 67 26 52 1 MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE SHAKIN' STEVENS 68 92 80 1 THINKING OUT LOUD ED SHEERAN 70 89 72 2 TAKE ME TO CHURCH HOZIER 72 100 44 1 KING YEARS & YEARS 77 Re 57 2 HOLD BACK THE RIVER JAMES BAY 78 29 41 29 DRIVING HOME FOR CHRISTMAS CHRIS REA 80 Re 43 10 LET IT GO JAMES BAY 81 99 46 1 LOVE ME LIKE YOU DO ELLIE GOULDING 86 38 61 1 DO THEY KNOW IT'S CHRISTMAS BAND AID 90 Re 44 7 SUGAR MAROON 5 91 55 82 1 MERRY XMAS EVERYBODY SLADE 92 Re 51 8 FIRESTONE KYGO FT CONRAD SEWELL This is the average 'weeks on' of every song in the chart, each week: W/E 07/04/2016 is the highest with 25.01, and W/E 07/05/1994 (which is a top 100) the lowest with 2.99. And this is the amount of new entries (not counting re-entries) each week: W/E 03/09/1994 is the highest with 40: 6 New 1 6 I'LL MAKE LOVE TO YOU BOYZ II MEN 10 New 1 10 PARKLIFE BLUR 18 New 1 18 DREAMER LIVIN' JOY 23 New 1 23 SUMMER BUNNIES R KELLY 25 New 1 25 PRETEND BEST FRIEND TERRORVISION 27 New 1 27 STAY (I MISSED YOU) LISA LOEB & NINE STORIES 28 New 1 28 KNOW BY NOW ROBERT PALMER 30 New 1 30 SUGAR SUGAR DUKE BAYSEE 34 New 1 34 WILD NIGHT J MELLENCAMP & M NDEGEOCELLO 36 New 1 36 HEART OF STONE DAVE STEWART 37 New 1 37 PRETTIEST EYES BEAUTIFUL SOUTH 38 New 1 38 HOT HOT HOT ARROW 39 New 1 39 SW LIVE EP PETER GABRIEL 40 New 1 40 YOUR FAVORITE THING SUGAR 41 New 1 41 ONE DAY D:MOB 48 New 1 48 ONLY SAW TODAY/INSTANT KARMA AMOS 50 New 1 50 THE RIGHT KINDA LOVER PATTI LABELLE 52 New 1 52 ONE GIANT LOVE CUD 53 New 1 53 HITS MEDLEY GIPSY KINGS 57 New 1 57 SHINING ROAD CRANES 59 New 1 59 DRE DAY DR DRE 63 New 1 63 WALKIN' ON SHEER BRONZE 64 New 1 64 CHURA LIYA BALLY SAGOO 65 New 1 65 EVERY LITTLE THING HE DOES IS MAGIC SHAWN COLVIN 69 New 1 69 LITTLE CHILD DES'REE 70 New 1 70 THE SINGLE RISE 74 New 1 74 THE CHURCH OF THE HOLY SPOOK SHANE MACGOWAN AND THE POPES 75 New 1 75 OBSESSION ULTRA SONIC 77 New 1 77 THE QUEEN'S ANTHEM LOLEATTA HOLLOWAY 82 New 1 82 SIX DAYS INTERMISSION FEAT LORI GLORI 84 New 1 84 ALTERED STATES EP BLACK SCIENCE ORCHESTRA 86 New 1 86 WHEN YOU RETURN CAPERCAILLIE 87 New 1 87 ANALOGUE BUBBLEBATH 4 AFX 91 New 1 91 PIECE OF CRAP NEIL YOUNG WITH CRAZY HORSE 92 New 1 92 SILVER SHADOW ALL SAINTS 1.9.7.5 93 New 1 93 MAKE IT EASY ON YOURSELF/SITAM AMAR 94 New 1 94 BANANA HOLIDAY BANANAS IN PYJAMAS 95 New 1 95 SHE DON'T USE JELLY FLAMING LIPS 97 New 1 97 CLOSE TO YOU FUN FACTORY 99 New 1 99 WHAT JAIL IS LIKE AFGHAN WHIGS There are 5 post-Christmas weeks with 0, but I'm honestly surprised it's never come close outside of that. Buzzjack Reshuffle Chart #575
Josh!, if you see this, you accidentally voted 2 departed songs last week ('Toosie Slide' and 'I Dunno', missing 'Dinner Guest' and 'Secrets'): I decided not to count your vote because I felt it would be too awkward / arbitrary for me to try and slot those 2 songs in, but if you let me know where they would've been, I can add it. (I tried to PM you yesterday but your inbox was full!)

Most number 1s on chart simultaneously?
I'm sure I've seen this question answered here before, but it may have been top 40 or 75 only (I'm guessing you mean top 100), and it probably wouldn't be easy to find, so I had a look myself. The highest I can see is W/E 10/01/2015, with 33: 1 1 4 1 UPTOWN FUNK MARK RONSON FT BRUNO MARS 3 3 28 1 THINKING OUT LOUD ED SHEERAN 4 2 3 1 SOMETHING I NEED BEN HAENOW 7 7 18 1 ALL ABOUT THAT BASS MEGHAN TRAINOR 8 8 6 1 THESE DAYS TAKE THAT 12 11 15 1 BANG BANG JESSIE J/GRANDE/MINAJ 23 22 33 1 STAY WITH ME SAM SMITH 27 27 31 1 SING ED SHEERAN 28 50 50 1 RATHER BE CLEAN BANDIT FT JESS GLYNNE 29 32 17 1 BLAME CALVIN HARRIS FT JOHN NEWMAN 30 30 30 1 GHOST ELLA HENDERSON 32 39 37 1 WAVES MR PROBZ 33 53 16 1 CHANGING SIGMA FT PALOMA FAITH 34 51 58 1 HAPPY PHARRELL WILLIAMS 39 55 19 1 PRAYER IN C LILLY WOOD & ROBIN SCHULZ 40 36 26 1 RUDE MAGIC 43 41 27 1 AM I WRONG NICO & VINZ 46 59 46 1 MONEY ON MY MIND SAM SMITH 50 69 26 1 PROBLEM ARIANA GRANDE FT IGGY AZALEA 54 70 72 1 COUNTING STARS ONEREPUBLIC 62 Re 41 1 TIMBER PITBULL FT KESHA 68 Re 36 1 HIDEAWAY KIESZA 70 Re 17 1 LOVERS ON THE SUN DAVID GUETTA FT SAM MARTIN 71 77 9 1 I DON'T CARE CHERYL 72 Re 26 1 GECKO (OVERDRIVE) OLIVER HELDENS & BECKY HILL 76 Re 33 1 SUMMER CALVIN HARRIS 78 99 21 1 CRAZY STUPID LOVE CHERYL COLE FT TINIE TEMPAH 82 Re 16 1 TSUNAMI (JUMP) DVBBS & BORGEOUS/TINIE TEMPAH 83 Re 32 1 MY LOVE ROUTE 94 FT JESS GLYNNE 84 Re 18 1 ME AND MY BROKEN HEART RIXTON 90 Re 30 1 NOBODY TO LOVE SIGMA 91 Re 23 1 I WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN RITA ORA 94 Re 66 1 WAKE ME UP AVICII All those are past (or current) #1s, with no future ones (though several future #2s). By my count, these are the numbers of #1s (past, present and future) in each week's chart from 1990 until a few weeks ago (using the charts from the OCC's site, so that's top 100 for all except top 75 for a period in 1991-1994). This is not 100% accurate because of the potential for songs that changed credits - for example, 'Cheerleader' only started crediting the remix the week it hit #1, so as far as my calculations are concerned, 'Cheerleader (Felix Jaehn Remix)' is a #1 and 'Cheerleader' is not, which is obviously nonsensical but that's how the data I have is formatted. Still, even if a few of the numbers should be perhaps 1 or 2 higher, you can see clear patterns with the early '00s, digital sales, and the addition of streaming - it seems this was generally highest in Q3 of 2014, when streaming was present but weekly #1 debuts were still common. Then I suppose the slow turnover of #1s in 2016 dragged it down and so did ACR from 2017 onwards.

2004: Poor 'Hotel' on 0 points, given that R. Kelly's own songs got votes so that can't be the sole reason. lol that I did end up the only voter for 'Cha Cha Slide' :') Fitting since like I said in the thread I didn't know it until recently as opposed to, I'm guessing, it being overplayed and annoying to everyone in the UK. Aww I gave 'Tipsy' 56% of its points too, underrated (and poor Frankee too). Brian McFadden's solo career is kind of funny in that in the UK, it only lasted a year in 2004-2005 and immediately dried up, and his UK #1 only reached #54 in Australia ('Almost Here' was a #1 but obviously thanks to Delta) - but for some reason (perhaps Delta), he re-tried his solo career 4 years later in Australia and had a string of genuine hits here in 2008-2010, including a #1 hit in 2010 which charted in zero other countries. I don't expect 'Unwritten' would've made it either way (unfortunately) as it was only #111 of 2004 and not top 250 of 2005... have to go to the US charts to get justice for that one. Oh wow at '5 Colours In Her Hair' not being McFly's highest - it's easily my favourite of theirs and I have it in mind as their biggest hit (even if that's incorrect with how high 'All About You' was in the next EOY). Nice to see 'Come With Me' top 40, easily my favourite discovery from this. Jason and I gave it 58% of its points. I was surprised (but pleased) 'Red Blooded Woman' made the list in the first place as I know most of her hits from this time were short-lived charters. Very surprised at 'Just Lose It' top 30! And wow at 'Some Girls' only #25 - it makes 'Sweet Dreams My LA Ex' being barely top 20 look better though! 'Flashdance' top 25  Poor GA losing both of their 2004 entries (that matter) in a row. Wow at O-Zone more popular than both!! 'I Wanna Have Your Babies' was only #110 of 2007, not especially close :kink: Aww 'These Words' and 'Milkshake' losing out too. WD 'Trick Me'! 2005: Oh wow poor 'Over And Over', it was #25 for me! And is my 2nd favourite of Nelly's 5 songs that made it here (after 'Ride Wit Me'). I liked 'Roc Ya Body (Mic Check 1, 2)' too. Wow at 'Let Me Love You' so low for such a big song. Poor 'Locked Up' not benefiting from any lockdown topicality. 'Candy Shop' is much too low as well! Surprised the polarising, oft-hated 'My Humps' outranked the much more agreeable 'Don't Phunk With My Heart'. 'Crazy Chick' deserved better. Ok wow I'm surprised at 'Don't Lie' being BEP's highest because, although I know it well, it feels like the least big and most forgotten of pretty much all their hits  Wow at a 2005 Oasis song being top 25. Yay for 'They' and 'Doctor Pressure' top 25  lol 'Do It Well' was only #171 :kink: Would've liked '1, 2 Step' higher! I checked and 'We Belong Together' was only 392 sales behind #1 ('Ghetto Gospel', in its 3rd week there) the week it debuted. Then it returned to #2 but with literally only 45% the sales of the #1 ('You're Beautiful'). Aww poor 'Hollaback Girl', would've really liked that top 10 (and it's my favourite song of hers). Wow at how well KT Tunstall did! Ouch at Gorillaz, but glad 'Clint Eastwood' was the one to make it  Nice to see 'Behind These Hazel Eyes', 'Dakota' and 'Don't Cha' (there's an R&B-ish one!) as somewhat less obvious ones, along with of course 'Hung Up'! I'm surprised 'Wake Me Up When September Ends' is so popular. A shame 'Boulevard Of Broken Dreams' missed out despite being top 100 of 2 separate years as I think it's a much stronger track. haha I feel like it's been doing well in things as long as I've been on this site but I wasn't familiar with it until last year either (but I love it now!). 2006: 'Ridin' is way too low :( Surprised at 'Sexy Love' being more popular than 'So Sick'. Ouch 'Rock This Party' - I gave it 18 of 27 points  I actually wouldn't say 'You Got The Love' should've been replaced as it was a new remix! Which version people voted it based on, or whether people (like me) would've voted a '90s version but not this one, we just don't know. Poor 'Monster' which I think was my favourite of all the 'landfill indie' songs here (except for 'Dakota' if that counts), and 'I'll Be Ready'. Looks like The Zutons did not get bigger than they ever could've planned here. Surprised at Orson since I mainly know it for being the lowest selling UK #1 (or being that at one point or something). Another Girls Aloud 11-20 placer! Not having the best of luck here. Wow at 'Unfaithful' beating 'SOS'. Poor 'Promiscuous' :( Great to see Cascada, Madonna, MCR, Nelly Furtado and double P!nk through! That's 6 of my top 8 actually :o

Buzzjack Reshuffle Chart #574
(Sorry for being quite late btw!) To reply to this from last week (I don't think you've asked before!)... Union J did a perfect round of all #10s :magic: 4 top 10 hits, all lasted just 1 week in the top 10, and all placed at #10. 'Carry You' was only 4 spots behind #9 ('Antenna') but the others were quite decisive. I think that's the only one I have within my records! The Script have 3/3 (but all 3 debuted higher then fell to #10) and so does Gary Barlow. However, Chris Brown and Maroon 5 are both close calls. Should 'Love On The Brain' have been ANTI's second single?
The thing is, I think 'Needed Me' became the 2nd single organically? It was circling outside the US Spotify top 50 from album release up until it got a slight push (I can't remember in what form - maybe the video release and/or some playlisting), and immediately exploded in the US (and was dragged into the charts in the rest of the world thanks to the global top 50 effect). Kind of like 'Dark Horse' or 'Thinking Out Loud'. I think the problem with 'Love On The Brain' is that it never got enough of a concentrated push to lift it into the charts as a late post-album single, outside of on the Billboard Hot 100 thanks to radio. For ages, it wasn't on Today's Top Hits, then it finally got a low placing in February 2017, when it was already a year old, which gave it a bit of a boost into the Spotify global top 100 but didn't do much. I'm sure that's in part because it's not as streaming-friendly a song, but if it had gotten both (better) playlist support and a video, around September/October 2016, it probably would've charted higher. As is, I think it's fair to call it a big hit, just a very spread-out one. It gets the 3rd highest Spotify plays of her catalogue these days, after 'Umbrella' and 'Love The Way You Lie' (well, and 'BELIEVE IT' but I'm sure that'll be dead and buried before long). I know this thread is about the UK specifically and maybe ignoring 'Needed Me' and pushing 'Love On The Brain' at that point would've worked better for Europe, but would've come at the expense of a huge US hit.

Heat Results • Buzzjack's Favourite Noughties Single
'Be Faithful' is way too low! I gave it 46% of its points. Nice to see 'Pretty Green Eyes' and 'Satisfaction' top 25! 'Sweet Dreams My LA Ex' only #20 :o Feels like it should be an easy top 10! Not quite the same luck for 'Breathe' as winning the 'Buzzjack's favourite old school urban anthem' results. Poor 'Slow' but I wouldn't have expected it to make the top 10 anyway. 'Scandalous' robbed   Very surprised at 'Loneliness' top 10!! Wow Delta too :o I prefer a lot of other songs of hers (including the 'Lost Without You' UK b-side 'Hear Me Calling'). Only 3 of the final 10 are songs that made my top 20 (or 21-25) this time.

Lady Gaga - US Chart Runs & Sales
I investigated and no, the numbers never lined up for it to be higher than #2 combined! (Though that said, the reason for the separate chart entries in the US was because 'The Fame Monster' was released both on its own and as the 2-disc set [the latter of which counted towards 'The Fame'], whereas I think only the 2-disc set was released in Europe? So it's not a matter of different chart rules as much as different releases, and it surely would've sold less combined if the 1-disc version hadn't been released.) 12/12/2009: TF #6 (151,393) + TFM #5 (173,515) = 324,908 = #2, behind Susan Boyle (700,779) 19/12/2009: TF #5 (83,550) + TFM #13 (64,955) = 148,505 = #3, behind Susan Boyle (527,345) and Andrea Bocelli (428,351) 26/12/2009: TF #6 (102,863) + TFM #14 (72,675) = 175,538 = #3, behind Susan Boyle (581,966) and Andrea Bocelli (400,433) 02/01/2010: TF #6 (140,751) + TFM #12 (99,225) = 239,976 = #4, behind Susan Boyle (661,227), Alicia Keys (417,277) and Andrea Bocelli (389,899) 09/01/2010: TF #6 (168,568) + TFM #12 (115,482) = 284,050 = #3, behind Susan Boyle (510,166) and Mary J.
