  1. Wow at Westlife making the top 50. Nice to see 'Foolish' in the top 30, and 'The Logical Song' almost top 20  Surprised how popular that Missy Elliott song is! Poor 'Kiss Kiss'. No real surprises in the top 10 except maybe 'Lose Yourself' (which has never been one of my favourite Eminem songs unfortunately). Good to have DJ Sammy, GA and the double Sugababes there nonetheless.

Thanks for posting all this! Amazing at Gaga winning 10 out of 16 rounds, including 4 in a row, twice, and 'LoveGame' getting voted by 88% of participants, and 'Dance In The Dark' by 96% :cheeseblock: I believe she got 72% of votes across all her entries combined (822 votes out of a possible 1,145), and her only songs not to receive a majority of votes were 'Rain On Me' (49%) and 'Do What U Want' (45%). I am surprised 'Is That Alright?' was one of her winners; meanwhile Madonna came so close to falling out with 'Intervention' :o My votes were not near the consensus that round, I voted all of the 5 lowest surviving songs. lol at how far behind everything else 'Don't Let Me Be Yours' was, that gave all the other artists an easy ride. It didn't feel like 'Love At First Sight' beat 'Love Me Like You' by such a huge margin! Interesting to see how some of the rounds progressed through the spreadsheets, for example Little Mix's 'Move' started out in the lead for the first 11 votes, then fell to the bottom 2 after 51 votes and never climbed back. I'm sure this thread will be very useful market research for deciding entries next year :') Also very impressive that each round got at least 66 voters (and the highest was 79, so it was all very consistent)!

Sounds good! My first thought for who'd do well was big '00s pop artists like Kelly Clarkson, Xtina and Sugababes who have a lot of popular hits but aren't active enough to still have forums, but I'm intrigued to see what less predictable artists get picked.
  4. Congrats 'Bad Romance' and Gaga  It seemed very close and I didn't know what to expect!
  5. 1. God is a woman [#5 of 12; voted ✔] 2. Dangerous Woman [#9 of 23; voted ✔] 3. Break Free [#8 of 20; voted ✔] 4. Side To Side [#9 of 26; voted ✔] 5. breathin [#12 of 13] 6. Be Alright [#10 of 22; voted ✔] 7. ghostin [#11 of 15] 8. Bad Decisions [#17 of 17] 9. Beauty And The Beast [#18 of 18] My top 2 landed in 2 of the strongest rounds! So despite being the song that got her eliminated, 'God is a woman' has gotten #1, #2, #1, #2, #2 and #1 ranks in this thread :')

Congrats to 'Fergalicious', not released (or cancelled or whatever) in the UK but crawling its way to silver 14 years later. Wow at 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star', wherever it's coming from! It only has 5.1 million Spotify plays (worldwide). I assumed it was one of those random no-name 'artists' on digital services but it's actually a real duo featuring a singer who worked with the band Zero 7.
  7. Not sure I'd noticed that they're all collated in one thread, thanks! I know it was a top 100 of all time but it still felt harsh to finish near the bottom of a rate in any capacity, behind a lot of songs that are... not exactly obvious BJ fave material. Nice that it's improving though (and funny that it placed right next to 'Let Her Go' both times). - WD every song getting at least 9 points in 2001. I don't think I'd ever heard of 'Cold As Ice', song or artist, which seemed unusual for a US rap song as those wouldn't usually be UK-only hits, but M.O.P. are one of those weird cases of having 2 top 10 hits in the UK and literally never making the Billboard Hot 100. Funny seeing 'Perfect Gentleman' end up right next to an Usher song. 'All Rise' seems too low, one of my favourite boyband tracks of the era. Top 50 seems pretty good for Crazy Town and OPM though and I'm surprised how well 'American Dream' did as I barely knew it before. Nice to see 'Rollin' top 40, not bad considering that it got literally no votes until the 2nd page :') And it only got 5 votes in fact, meaning it averaged +17 from its voters. I feel like Geri's 'It's Raining Men' is one of the most useless covers in that it's just like a weaker version of the original with nothing different to offer but maybe I'd feel differently if I'd heard it first. A lot of my other favourite Nelly singles ('Country Grammar', 'Air Force Ones', 'Shake Ya Tailfeather') weren't in here so I'm glad the one that was, 'Ride Wit Me', did well. 'Family Affair' is an essential, should be higher! Didn't know any of Samantha Mumba's non-'Gotta Tell You' songs were that highly regarded. Or that Steps song. Yay for 'Rapture' top 20 ^_^ I kind of liked 'There You'll Be' if I recall correctly but I just ended up with 'This Kiss' stuck in my head for the next day instead, that should've been her big UK hit. Although it's kind of cool (?) how her biggest hit in each of the UK, US and Australia were all different songs. Also I only noticed like... a week ago that 'There You'll Be' re-entered the official top 10 from X Factor in 2008, wow. Great positions for 'ResuRection' (surprisingly!) and 'Touch Me' :D WD 'Teenage Dirtbag' defying the haters :'))))) I'm surprised, I'd have expected it at like #40 or something. Great to see 'Clint Eastwood', 'Castles In The Sky' and 'Another Chance' (and obvious Kylie) in there, and Janet is a cool surprise! - Oh poor 'We're On The Ball', I found that surprisingly good and was disappointed it wasn't on Spotify, then later located a download and I genuinely really like it now. lol at the numerous Will and Gareth songs near the bottom, not undeserved. Poor 'Nu Flow' though... and 'Addictive'?! I would've expected that like top 30 probably.
  8. Quite a few songs I voted near the bottom ('Operation Blade', 'Bound 4 Da Reload', 'Blow Ya Mind', 'Take A Look Around') but none I was the only voter of, I think. Surprised 'Out Of Your Mind' couldn't ride the Spice Girls' popularity to more votes. Poor 'Time To Burn' only #46 but that's probably good for a second-tier (in success) trance hit with no real profile. Surprised 'American Pie' made the top 40 honestly; I've never had anything against it and in fact loved it when I first heard it (2010), but I wouldn't think it's among many people's favourites. 'Freestyler' is way too low but if I recall correctly it was (bafflingly) something like #97 out of 100 in the recent #2s rate in the chart forum so at least it's an improvement. Behind 'Don't Give Up' feels weird though, wouldn't have expected that to be strongly cared about. 'Flowers' deserved better! Not sure I'd heard of 'Sitting Down Here' before but I noticed it seemed to get a lot of votes. Nice to see 'On The Beach' and 'Kernkraft 400' top 30 :D 'The Real Slim Shady' (or really any Eminem song bar... 'Stan', the Rihanna features and probably 'Lose Yourself') doing so well on this site is surprising! 'Silence' top 15  I'm guessing you listened to the Tiësto remix? I think that's the most popular version nowadays (and probably one of the biggest trance classics), but FYI, the was the 2000 UK hit version (with the Tiësto remix on the single as track 2), while the original release that charted at #73 in 1999 had the (my favourite version, and also the one released in Australia where it was a top 10 hit), and all of those are remixes of the which is more trip hop/ambient-like. That's a pretty tight final 10! I voted 6 of them. Love seeing 'Sandstorm' through  and, very surprisingly, 'All The Small Things'!!
  9. Funnily Klingande released a tropical house semi-cover of 'Pumped Up Kicks' (called 'Pumped Up') in 2017, and it has 129 million Spotify plays; if this can randomly become a hit now, perhaps 'Pumped Up' could too :P
  10. Rush posted a post in a topic in AF Idol Archive
My final slate: Congrats to Rihanna ending this as my most voted artist, despite never once being #1! Gaga, on the other hand, got 7 #1 ranks (and top 2 with literally everything sent from her first 3 albums, except 'Paparazzi' being only #4). Madonna also got 4 #1 ranks, Britney got 2, and the other 3 were between Ellie, Taylor and P!nk. By percentage, Girls Aloud are in fact my most voted (86%), followed by Rihanna (81%), Madonna (79%), Gaga (75%) and P!nk (70%). By average points (obviously biased to the ones who lasted longer, since a bottom rank at the start = 1 point and a bottom rank at the end = 25 points), Madonna is my highest (22.6), followed by Rihanna (22.4), Gaga (21.9), Girls Aloud (21.4), Britney (20.5) and P!nk (20.3).
  11. 'Promiscuous' was actually the lead single in the US (and Australia)! 'Maneater' was 2nd and then 'Say It Right' was 3rd, unlike the UK where it was 4th. So 'Maneater' was a #16 hit sandwiched between 2 #1s in the US. I don't know why it didn't do better though. Maybe it just got swallowed up between the other 2 on radio as they were probably both more US-friendly, or the label didn't push it much as they were more invested in 'Say It Right'. It's kind of a shame because if it had been less successful, maybe they would've re-released it after 'Say It Right'. That worked for P!nk at the same time - 'Who Knew' was originally only an #18 bubbling under hit in 2006, and I think her album was written off as a flop there, but then 'U + Ur Hand' gradually crawled its way up to major success and 'Who Knew' was re-released after, and became a long-charting top 10 hit (and huge radio hit), peaking about 14 months after its initial bubbling under 'success'. ('Toca's Miracle' is my favourite)

  13. Is it possible for someone to be on this site and not know these 2 songs  Lady Gaga - Bad Romance for me, 100%! This exactly
  14. Expected '2 Become 1' thinking that was the only one of their most popular songs left! But of course nothing would've had a chance so you might as well have sent 'Spice Invaders' :kink:

^ 'Rain On Me' managed to surpass its points from its first week with 139 this week, meaning it now has the highest weekly points I have on record. It has scored 393 points so far across 3 weeks, enough that it would already be #4 on the 2019 EOY, or #7 of 2018 and 2019 combined. That's helped by high numbers of voters, but it'd still be already #10 and #17 respectively with that evened out.

To wait and see if they'll be the last one standing  The tie is broken and Rihanna is now my most voted :o Just realised Kylie and Little Mix ended up tied in my points too :')
  23. 1. Lady Gaga - Marry The Night 2. Kanye West "feat. Rihanna" - All Of The Lights 3. Matt Cardle & Melanie C - Loving You 4. Madonna - Oh Father Easy choice, love the top 2  I thought Rihanna probably wouldn't send 'All Of The Lights' ('Can't Remember To Forget You' seemed to be leading, and even 'Bitch Better Have My Money' and 'Talk That Talk' seemed to have been discussed more) which is why I expected 'Lucky Star' or 'Take A Bow' would make my vote, but against 'All Of The Lights' none of Madonna's options would've made it anyway - so I'm glad my preferences weren't picked so nobody was relying on me :kink: The tiebreaker is tough! I actually grew to prefer the Christmas mix of 'Love Me Like You' because I love the extra bells regardless of time of year. Based on the original... Kylie Minogue - Love At First Sight, narrowly.
  24. I only know 'Loving You' (I like it and remember it well but it wouldn't make my vote) so I can't comment, but omg if Melanie C gets her fourth solo entry while none of the others have had any :') Melanie C taking after Nicole Scherzinger
  25. 'Marry The Night' of course! 'Hair' would be my 2nd favourite ^_^
