I don't know if 'All Of The Lights' should even count as a Rihanna song, but it's my favourite song here by far!
  2. Interesting at the amount of support for 'Oh Father', because it's her only '80s single I'm not at all familiar with (apart from buried relic 'Gambler' and whatever 'The Look Of Love' is). I love 'Lucky Star' (which I voted) and 'Take A Bow', but they're not at the top of her discography for me so I can't guarantee my vote (but it looks likely based on what songs seem to be in the lead at the moment). 'Miles Away' is very nice too. I never liked 'Living For Love' personally.

  4. 1. Lady Gaga - Gypsy (easily! always loved this) 2. Madonna - I Don't Search I Find (I already knew this song but I like how it sounds like an accompaniment to 'Bedtime Story', or her early '90s work in general, that she just forgot to release for 25 years) 3. Rihanna feat. Eminem - Love The Way You Lie (Part II) (neither version is anywhere near my favourites from either artist but it's nice to hear especially as I hadn't in quite a while) 4. Spice Girls - If U Can't Dance (I expected a pure pop track like 'Wannabe', 'Never Give Up On The Good Times' etc so this was unexpected though less so having already heard 'Naked'; nice beat) 5. Katy Perry - Act My Age (ok)
  5. omg at 'Last Night' sneaking in right at the bottom of the list, despite only being a #14 hit!! Didn't expect that at all   Who is this Tanya Stephens and how did her name get onto 'What Goes Around... Comes Around'?? Google brings up nothing relating to the song... except a post of the 'HMV official chart' on this site one week in 2007 that also has her credited. I've never seen her name before. +20: Diddy feat. Keyshia Cole - Last Night +19: Camille Jones vs. Fedde Le Grand - The Creeps +18: Ida Corr vs. Fedde Le Grand - Let Me Think About It +17: Kanye West - Stronger +16: Mason vs. Princess Superstar - Perfect (Exceeder) +15: Rihanna feat. Newton Faulkner - Dream Catch Me 40. Mark Ronson feat. Amy Winehouse - Valerie A shame 'What I've Done' was Linkin Park's biggest UK hit (apart from 'Numb/Encore' probably), I prefer all 8 singles from their first 2 albums. Poor 'Happy Ending' narrowly missing out as it's my favourite of Mika's first-album singles. I'm surprised Cascada's 'Miracle' made the top 100 at all though! I've heard Take That's 'Shine' so few times that I don't think I'd ever realised Lily Allen's 'Who'd Have Known' took its melody from it. 'No U Hang Up' was surprisingly good.

  9. That's kind of ironic to say when the word 'gypsy' is offensive, even if that's not the intention behind Gaga's use. But if nobody finds it offputting, then it's a great song. 'Electric Chapel' is my favourite in the list   And 'Teeth' is iconic :cheeseblock: 'Summerboy' and 'The Queen' in particular are also great too!
  10. omg at how many times 'Love The Way You Lie (Part II)' has been considered and it finally getting its time  Note that 'If I Never See Your Face Again' was a single so it wouldn't count, but when you skip the singles it's the same as the original album so it makes no difference. (I do wonder what happened to 'Hatin' On The Club' - I remember seeing that title listed somewhere as one of the new tracks that would be on the re-release, but then I looked at the CD in a shop when it came out and there was no such thing. Impressively Wikipedia confirms my memory that it was initially planned to be on it!)
  11. How cute at 'On A Night Like This' and 'Move' ending up together again, and tied :') Neither deserved it but it's not really surprising - in fact, 'On A Night Like This' seemed to get a lot more votes than I expected (which was nice to see!), considering the competition. Poor 'On A Night Like This' looking like it's cursed by having eliminated Kylie twice now when that's only because it got saved for late rounds both times. I'd forgotten about it by now but I remember guessing closing tracks was an upcoming theme from certain songs being saved or wanted to be saved ('Not Like The Movies', 'Thinking Bout You', 'Glitter In The Air') :D But I didn't guess the 'no singles' part so I also thought 'Formation' would be one (you can tell how long ago this was by Beyoncé still being a factor). (Also I somehow thought 'Goodbye' was from 'Spiceworld'... probably because it came only ~4 months after 'Viva Forever' so based on their chart entries it looks like part of the same era and I didn't realise they did a standalone single, evidently missing half the context)

Now 6 top 2 ranks in a row for Madonna :o Meanwhile Rihanna has made my vote 10 times but has never been my #1 (blame timing with 'Don't Stop The Music' being against 'Figure 8').
  13. 1. Madonna - Hung Up 2. Lady Gaga - Poker Face 3. Rihanna feat. Jay-Z - Umbrella 4. Little Mix - Move 5. Kylie Minogue - On A Night Like This 6. Spice Girls - Spice Up Your Life 7. Katy Perry - Teenage Dream I'm sorry 'On A Night Like This' And 'Spice Up Your Life' is my favourite Spice Girls song but I knew from the start it would have no chance for me with those competitors, even though I loved it more than I remembered. Not surprising at this point, but I have the same vote as 4 other people! (dan-G, Jordan Lee, UltraReputation, WinterFreeze)
  14. +20: Cascada - Everytime We Touch +19: Madonna - Sorry +18: Bob Sinclar & Cutee-B feat. Snoop Dogg - Buttons 21. Beatfreakz - Somebody's Watching Me 22. Infernal - From Paris To Berlin 23. Christina Aguilera - Ain't No Other Man 24. Justin Timberlake feat. T.I. - My Love 25. Corinne Bailey Rae - 26. Diddy feat. Nicole Scherzinger - Come To Me 27. Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars 28. The Notorious B.I.G. feat. Diddy, Nelly, Jagged Edge & Avery Storm - Nasty Girl 29. Keane - Is It Any Wonder? 30. The Black Eyed Peas - Pump It 31. The Killers - When You Were Young 32. Hi_Tack - Say Say Say (Waiting 4 U) 33. LL Cool J feat. Jennifer Lopez - Control Myself 34. Booty Luv - Boogie 2Nite 35. Lily Allen - Smile 36. Beyoncé feat. Slim Thug - Check On It 37. David Guetta vs. The Egg - Love Don't Let Me Go (Walking Away) 38. Beyoncé - Irreplaceable 39. Chris Brown feat. Juelz Santana - Run It! 40. José González - Heartbeats (41. Sandi Thom - I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker (With Flowers In My Hair)) I've never had much interest in the UK 'indie' of this time so this is in fact the first time I've listened to 'Is It Any Wonder?', 'You're All I Have', anything from The Feeling bar 1 prior play, anything from Kasabian before 'Fire', and probably 2 or 3 others. I'm glad I liked some of them (particularly 'Is It Any Wonder?' which made my top 30, and also 'Monster' which I'd only heard twice before, with no thanks to it having disappeared from Spotify here, and really enjoyed). I also feel like, without counting (so I could be wrong), this list had the most dance songs since maybe 2002, interestingly (and definitely the least reality TV content and Westlife & co. in a while). (For the record I'm considering 'You Got The Love' as the 2006 version which hasn't really impressed me when I've heard it; I love what I think is the 1991 version) Wow that 'I Like The Way' and 'Candy Shop' made the top 200 with peaks of #57 and #65 within 2006! A new era begins. I'm annoyed that Eminem had to release 'When I'm Gone' in mid-December as it would be #70 of 2006 with its sales combined. 'Because Of You' (Kelly Clarkson) is also unlucky... and 'All Good Things (Come To An End)' being #120 and #115 of separate years, ouch.
  15. Did Music Week possibly provide precise figures in their online articles (as opposed to their printed ones)? That was my guess, since that's been the source for precise weekly figures since at least 2005 or so, I believe. I tried to search Haven earlier to see if I could find any examples of Music Week articles from circa 2001, but the only thing I found was this library site archive (from this thread) that's been dead for probably a decade :') But I did find official confirmation for a couple of the 2001 #1 figures! From a Music Week article in 2013: 'It Wasn't Me' and 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head' match the Wikipedia editor's figures perfectly, however... 'Pure And Simple' is 16 copies lower than that on Wikipedia (549,839), and 'Uptown Girl' is 1 copy lower (292,319). MW have stated the same 'Pure And Simple' sales numerous times (2010, 2011, 2012), so it wouldn't be a typo from them (not that the above list looks anything but copy-pasted lol), but it also probably wouldn't be a typo from the Wikipedia editor, as '23' and '39' aren't exactly close together, nor would it be made up, as 2/4 are correct and the other 2 are so close. The plot thickens. I wonder if it could possibly be that 'Pure And Simple' sold 16 copies in the week before its release as a street date violation, and MW changed their mind on whether or not to lump that in with the proper first week? Sounds unlikely, but that (at a greater scale) did happen to Westlife a couple times (which I'd seen recently as an uncited claim on Wikipedia so it's good to know it's actually true):
  16. Poor 'Scared To Be Lonely' :( Back to 'Electricity'.
  17. I don't know / can't find anything either, but if it helps, it was added to Wikipedia in 2005 at the same time as a bunch of other exact figures for 2001 #1s, so if the rest of them are legit, that could be a good sign: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=...p;oldid=9324111 Just looked at the first page and wow at the 'Viva Forever' figure being revealed through a voice message in a documentary :')
  18. 'Blow Your Mind'! I was thinking I maybe should've strategically voted it to save 'Scared To Be Lonely' rather than my fruitless 'Electricity' pursuit so I'm glad it's gone to a tiebreaker :')
  19. Fair enough! Good idea to go out on a high at worst. Although in that case, I'd have picked 'Confide In Me' Maybe it'll find a spot next year. (Also good point on the alias voters, forgot about that!)
  20. This is a double elimination so if Katy soars through this round she'll be top 5 :kink:
  21. Voting 'Electricity' as ever but I'm glad 'No Lie' left as that's my 2nd least favourite. Which makes the gulf between 'Electricity' and the rest of them now pretty big :P
  22. Rush posted a post in a topic in Rihanna's Rihanna
Voted 'Umbrella' as my favourite of the 3. I still think it's strange that you sent 'Don't Stop The Music' so early! But if there wouldn't be room for all 3 of it, 'Umbrella' and 'We Found Love' at this stage then it makes sense.
  23. 'On A Night Like This' is my favourite so I've voted it for that reason, but I'd be very hesitant to send it in this round (in fact, I thought it was considered for the previous free choice round but 'All The Lovers' was picked as the more popular song). Last year, it was part of a split round where each artist submitted both a single and an album track (with 2 separate polls), and it came 3rd last among the singles: It was a triple elimination and, based on combined votes between the 2 songs, Dua and Rita were immediately eliminated and Kylie and Little Mix went into a play-off, which Kylie lost by 1 vote: Little Mix are submitting 'Move' this round so Kylie would be against the same song again, along with (likely) more popular songs from Katy/Gaga and big ones from other artists, so I don't expect 'On A Night Like This' would survive. I feel like 'Love At First Sight' is a more popular and better known song and safer choice, so I would go for it. That said, I'm not sure if 'Love At First Sight' would make my vote (depends how many songs I love are entered) whereas 'On A Night Like This' should be safe for me, and 'On A Night Like This' is leading the poll, so maybe it's actually the more popular one... in which case I expect she's doomed either way  Edit: having gone through all the threads, yeah I do think she's doomed. Depending how the as-of-yet-undecided entries go even 'On A Night Like This', as much as I love it, could end up 5th for me  If you think 'Get Outta My Way' is more popular than these 2 I'd suggest considering it, but my guess would be that 'Love At First Sight' would be the one most likely to pick up casual votes regardless.
  24. 'Move' is one of my favourite LM songs whereas 'Touch' is nice but has never been a strong standout for me, so I approve of this choice :D I'm surprised how many supporters 'Move' has in this thread though because I felt like 'Touch' had surpassed it in popularity!

Easiest poll I've seen in my life 'Poker Face' 100%
