AF IDOL 2.0: ROUND 11 • R E F L E C T I O N
I was really worried for '4 Minutes'/Madonna, glad it and she survived! Wow at Taylor being eliminated in a round shared with '4 Minutes' both times :o I would like to see it tbh

ROUND 6: Ariana UK Top 10 singles survivor

AF IDOL 2.0: ROUND 11 TIEBREAK • F L A S H V O T E
I'm glad Dannii is through, I was worried about that one! Poor Britney but any eliminations were bound to be harsh. I do prefer the 'Till The World Ends' remix but I don't expect it would've done much better, if at all. Madonna feat. Justin Timberlake & Timbaland - 4 Minutes please  PS to join a dead discussion in the previous thread, I had wondered what the difference between the 'Never Be The Same Again' versions was, and I sampled the album version and it mainly sounded like the production was quieter to me (like the bass sounds heavier in the single mix I think [which sounds better to me that way, but maybe because I'm used to it]). Odd that the video used the album version. '4 Minutes' is funny to me because I remember I was used to hearing it on the radio who played the edit, and when I first downloaded it and hit play, I was so confused by the intro and questioned if I'd gotten the wrong thing  Also see Coldplay's 'Violet Hill' with the long ambient intro that's barely audible if you listen on low volume. But the '4 Minutes' album version is what I've been used to ever since and the intro is firmly part of the song to me. In fact, the edit sounds more 'wrong' to me because its intro feels out of time as the horns come in on 3.5 beats rather than 4. It's kind of weird that they put the edit on 'Celebration' too given the album, single and video had the full version. Probably makes sense now for streaming-friendliness to have the recognisable hook right up front though (indeed the edit has 114m Spotify plays while the album version has 19m), and for the same reason I'd have probably picked the edit for the playlist if I was trying to guess what other people would like :P Also I think 'Frozen' (6:07) is the longest song, but only slightly ahead of Rihanna's 'Cold Case Love' (6:05)!

AF Idol 2.0: Round 11 • V O T E
1. Lady Gaga feat. Beyoncé - Telephone 2. Madonna feat. Justin Timberlake & Timbaland - 4 Minutes 3. Riva feat. Dannii Minogue - Who Do You Love Now? (Stringer) 4. Little Mix feat. Stormzy - Power 5. Rihanna feat. Drake - What's My Name? 6. Melanie C feat. Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes - Never Be The Same Again 7. Katy Perry feat. Juicy J - Dark Horse 8. Britney Spears feat. Madonna - Me Against The Music 9. Taylor Swift feat. Kendrick Lamar - Bad Blood Quality list! I like all of them (though 'Bad Blood' less so than at the time). Sorry to Mel C who I'd have really liked to fit in too. I, at this stage, don't have the same 5 votes as anyone, but if my #5/#6 had been the other way around, I would've had the same votes as Liam.k for a 2nd round in a row :o Also I'd forgotten this is a double elimination, gonna be brutal :drama:

Buzzjack's Favourite Noughties Single: Heat 6 • 2005
+20: Madonna - Hung Up +19: Jem - They (such a... jem :basil:) +18: Mylo vs. Miami Sound Machine - Doctor Pressure +17: Gwen Stefani - Hollaback Girl +16: The Pussycat Dolls feat. Busta Rhymes - Don't Cha +15: BodyRockers - I Like The Way +14: Ciara feat. Missy Elliott - 1, 2 Step +13: 50 Cent feat. Olivia - Candy Shop +12: Sugababes - Push The Button +11: Charlotte Church - Crazy Chick +10: Amerie - 1 Thing +9: Stereophonics - Dakota (this is in fact the newest song in my list for me [roughly tied with 'Out Of Touch']; it took several scattered listens over the years but really clicked for me last year) +8: Kelly Clarkson - Behind These Hazel Eyes +7: Rihanna - Pon De Replay +6: Snoop Dogg feat. Charlie Wilson & Justin Timberlake - Signs +5: Sunset Strippers - Falling Stars +4: Studio B - I See Girls +3: Uniting Nations - Out Of Touch +2: Eminem - Mockingbird +1: Girls Aloud - Biology 21. The Game feat. 50 Cent - Hate It Or Love It (that is the question) 22. Akon - Lonely 23. Ciara feat. Petey Pablo - Goodies 24. The Chemical Brothers - Galvanize 25. Nelly feat. Tim McGraw - Over And Over 26. Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc. 27. Akon - Locked Up 28. Sean Paul - We Be Burnin' (Legalize It) 29. Jennifer Lopez - Get Right 30. Audio Bullys feat. Nancy Sinatra - Shot You Down According to Wikipedia, '(Is This The Way To) Amarillo' was "a re-issue of the original version and not a re-recording", so if that's correct, maybe it technically should've been skipped  Which would've replaced a song nobody's voted with... Bobby Valentino's 'Slow Down' which I presume isn't something that would be popular here but I don't really know it. Shoutout to 'Boulevard Of Broken Dreams' for managing to be top 100 in 2 years and top 75 in neither. 'Numb/Encore', which was released in November 2004, also managed to do the same in... 2005 and 2006?! I was going to say it would be ~#44 of 2005 if its 2004-2005 sales were within one year, but that takes it even further. A shame it's not the original 'Numb' which would've been my +20 of 2003 had it, y'know, sold about triple what it probably actually did.

Spice Girls - Chart Runs & Sales Thread: UK
^ 'Who I Am' made #37 on the Scottish chart: https://www.officialcharts.com/charts/scott...rt/20200327/41/ I don't know about the others because I don't *think* there's a searchable archive of the Scottish charts; you have to look week-by-week (but it looks like almost none of them made the iTunes top 100 so I wouldn't expect much, if anything). For the record, I think digital sales were added to the Scottish chart in October 2009 (back in 2015 I compiled a list of Scottish chart #1s and you can see a clear difference at that point in the list), and they've remained sales-only since, presumably because streaming services don't have / aren't willing to provide Scotland-specific data.

ROUND 5: Ariana UK Top 10 singles survivor
I'm going for 'break up with your girlfriend, i'm bored' now. I like it but it didn't have much longevity for me. 'Focus' surviving 4 rounds

What’s My Name vs Love The Way You Lie vs Stay
'What's My Name?' is easily my favourite of those 3 but I'm not sure if it would make my vote (depends on competition). I'd definitely favour 'Run This Town' and 'This Is What You Came For' from other songs mentioned.

Flash Poll: AF Idol
Dannii getting her chance :cheeseblock: I thought 'Who Do You Love Now?' would be the clear choice! I'm surprised 'You Won't Forget About Me' has so much support (ok, not so much in the poll) because I associate it with 'Perfection' and 'So Under Pressure' as her smaller, short-lived mid-'00s charters and I didn't know it was highly rated either, but it's a great song too and I'd be happy to see either. 'Where The Wild Roses Grow' is also a great song but probably not right for this. From the Kylie songs in the poll... I don't really remember the Tove Lo one and I doubt the other 3 would make my vote. A shame that suggested Kylie/XXXTENTACION collab never eventuated or else it would've been a no-brainer :kink:

AF IDOL 2.0 | Katy Perry Discussion Thread
'Dark Horse' and 'Swish Swish' are cool and all but why send them when you could send the almighty, groundbreaking, multi-platinum (in Australia) magnum opus ★░STARSTRUKK░★ dvf--10EYXw :cheeseblock: (I'm not joking, it's literally my favourite Katy Perry-involved song) ('If We Ever Meet Again' would probably be the better choice if you were to go the features route though I'm guessing)

AF IDOL 2.0 | Pink Discussion Thread
Interesting! I had caught wind of this theme through an accidental spoiler but it just said 'a remix', so I had it in mind as being remixes regardless of single status, but nothing about bonus tracks or b-sides. I was thinking, say, Melanie C's 'I Turn To You' and Kelly Rowland's 'Work' would be likely for it, but many/most artists would probably have to pick from their hits' remix EPs and see if they have any standouts or how well they can maintain the appeal of the original tracks. Personally I did feel this theme turned out a bit messy by lumping together the distinct concepts of remixes and bonus tracks, and counting re-release singles as bonus tracks (as opposed to just deluxe-only tracks/Japanese bonus tracks/etc which is what I'd normally think of by 'bonus tracks') - I think remixes alone would've been a more interesting, if more difficult, prospect. But that said, I feel like the whole game is a test of whose discography is well-rounded enough to pass through various challenges, as opposed to a straight-up 'send the hits' contest, and to me that's one of the most fun parts. It's a shame P!nk hit such a roadblock but she wasn't the first (see Calvin and Zara) and probably won't be the last. I think she did particularly well considering that she doesn't do many remixes (of relevance), features, promo singles etc and doesn't really have the fanbase on here to have well-known non-singles.

AF Idol 2.0: Round 10 • V O T E
1. Madonna - Into The Groove 2. Rihanna - Disturbia 3. Katy Perry feat. Kanye West - E.T. 4. Melanie C - I Turn To You [Hex Hector Remix] (hadn't heard the original before and that was quite an interesting listen) 5. Kylie Minogue - Can't Get Blue Monday Out Of My Head (I'd never really choose to listen to this over the original but the 2 songs do fit well) 6. Taylor Swift - New Romantics (this has grown on me a lot) 7. Lady Gaga feat. Christina Aguilera - Do What U Want 8. Britney Spears - (You Drive Me) Crazy [The Stop Remix!] 9. Little Mix feat. Machine Gun Kelly - No More Sad Songs 10. P!nk - Beautiful Trauma [Kat Krazy Remix] (I like the song but find the remix very average unfortunately) I checked again and thought I'd surely have the same 5 votes as someone this time, but no! :o

Buzzjack Reshuffle Chart #571
From -150 points for 'GOOBA' last week to 130 points for 'Rain On Me'! It got 19 +5s (just over half of its votes), and nothing lower than -1. In 2018, nothing got over 100 points in any week, and in 2019, only 'All Day And Night' did. In 2020 thus far, 'Physical' had done so 5 times and 'Blinding Lights' once, but the highest 'Physical' had gotten was 112 points, which 'Rain On Me' has easily blown past. By average, 'Rain On Me' has +3.61, and that's also the highest of the last 2.5 years, surpassing 'All Day And Night' (+3.48). Reaching into the more extensive archives again (currently covering ~75% of reshuffle history, from Jun 2009 to Dec 2014 and Oct 2017 to present), 'Rain On Me' holds the equal highest points I have on record, tied with 'Rather Be' in its first week (Jan 2014), and just a fraction ahead of Ella Henderson's 'Ghost' in its first 2 weeks (Jun 2014). By average, however, I have higher scores from numerous songs ('Bad Romance' several times, 'Telephone', 'Titanium' with record low voters, 'Get Lucky', 'Rather Be', 'Ghost'). Poor 'Toosie Slide'.

Buzzjack's Favourite Noughties Single: Heat 5 • 2004
WD George Harrison and Elton John getting in before the amount of old songs got potentially serious enough that you thought of this :kink: (and poor... P. Diddy and DMX missing out) RIP Westlife, this wasn't the same without the suspense of if they'd manage to get even more boring than before but luckily we still have Ronan Keating. This was a good list! Sam & Mark win the annual prize of 'reality TV single that was much better than I expected'. +20: Deep Dish - Flashdance  +19: Special D - Come With Me (I had never heard this before today!!! I can't remember the last time I've ranked something brand new to me this high this fast in any game [bar, like, AF Idol ballad album tracks], maybe Breakage's 'Fighting Fire' in Ultimate OHWs in 2018) +18: Britney Spears - Toxic +17: Eric Prydz - Call On Me +16: Girls Aloud - The Show +15: Gwen Stefani - What You Waiting For? +14: J-Kwon - Tipsy +13: Destiny's Child - Lose My Breath +12: Kelis - Trick Me +11: Rachel Stevens - Some Girls +10: McFly - 5 Colours In Her Hair +9: The Shapeshifters - Lola's Theme +8: Kylie Minogue - Red Blooded Woman +7: DJ Casper - Cha Cha Slide (wow that I'm the first person to have voted this - I will note that I'd never heard it until recent years [and wasn't familiar with it until this year] so I'm totally removed from any context it had at the time / in the UK outside of the audio itself) +6: Girls Aloud - Love Machine +5: Kelis - Milkshake +4: The 411 - Dumb +3: Kylie Minogue - I Believe In You +2: The Streets - Dry Your Eyes +1: Britney Spears - Everytime 21. Natasha Bedingfield - These Words 22. The 411 feat. Ghostface Killah - On My Knees (also had never heard this one before [because of it not being on Spotify here], super impressive) 23. Khia - My Neck, My Back (Lick It) 24. D12 - My Band 25. Boogie Pimps - Somebody To Love 26. The Rasmus - In The Shadows 27. Christina Milian feat. Fabolous - Dip It Low 28. JoJo - Leave (Get Out) 29.
