In a perfect world, what would your Music run of singles have been, particularly starting with the third single? I think WHAT!!! is one of her best ever sangs, as is the video, but the prudes at the time banned it - but allowed all manner of male videos... So, it got banned from tv and radio due to sexist prudism, and then barely even reached top 30 in the charts - I think it got #39 for one week, and that was it. With a pg - rated p for prude - video alongside, it could have been a top 3! But... was it the correct third single? Madonna wanted Perfect Instant and Warner wanted Beautiful Stranger (the no.1 that never was) P2 with Amazing. Madonna found out, removed Amazing from all her sets so they couldn't make a video, and we got neither as a fourth single. Which would you have released? I would have done: Amazing WHAT Perfect Instant Leaving the two big, less commercial, dance tracks for last, after a run of three pop tracks perfect for radio and tv.

It wss an industry wide thing. Money changed hands, ss record companies saw them and knew they could get in on it eith American bands, and made Destiny's Child and No Scrubs. They snubbed Spice Girls since thrn to build up American ones.

100% agreed. But she was alwaaays about money, just like Ed Sheeran, obsessed with charts and positions and creating cookie cutter pop. She's not a good lyricist and just writes the same stuff year in, year out, with clunky metaphors about overdramatised showmances. She's honestly the worst of all pop girls. Immediate switch off if she comes on the radio for me.
