This was a great episode - this should've been the season 3 ending really. The way they had to reestablish the governor with a militia felt a bit clunky and would've made more sense with the Woodbury lot but it was still pretty well done. My initial reaction to empty chair was that she was still alive but I've seen that this is roughly the point she dies in the comics. It's one of a few nice cliffhangers to end on though.

I keep telling people this but then this week's episode (US pace) was terrible. Brody's sudden recovery, the awful dialogue with the marines, the "16 days later", the Brody and Carrie reunion, the Brody and Dana reunion...the list goes on. While the last few episodes have been great, the storyline this season doesn't have the same impact because there's no "case to solve"... no actual terrorist threat. Saul revealing his plans for Brody just doesn't have the same effect as something like "OMG Brody's getting a suicide vest!"

So the governor is at the prison gates and a battle is going to ensue... haven't we seen this before, like 3 times already? I'm quite enjoying this season but I do feel like there isn't much of a driving force with the plot. There doesn't seem to be any unifying thread this season and it kind of feels like a soap: Living with Zombies.

It's been so good this season as well. It has run it's course though and I'd be happy with it to go out with a bang this season.

She did mention Pink in that interview. It's absolutely ridiculous how delusional she is: The reaction has been "mixed" because the song is dreadful - sonically It's My Party is in completely the same vein as her other songs. It has nothing to do with people wanting the "old" her. Again, nothing to do with her hair, Domino sounded just like a Katy Perry song - that's why people were saying it!!!
  6. If I Could Change Your Mind is easily the highlight. This is a great album though - I'm loving My Song 5 as well.

Download proxmate and watch it on hulu. I thought it was a good first episode. This programme really hit its stride in the second half of the first season and it seems it's continuing the standard.

Great beat...just a shame about him really.

I'm quite surprised that Valley is bottom! It's one of the highlights of Electra Heart for me, along with Teen Idle. I feel the production of a lot of Electra Heart lets down some decent songs but here it's perfect. Goes nicely with Lana's Dark Paradise.
  10. Great winner. My favourites on the album are: This Is What Makes Us Girls National Anthem Born To Die Summertime Sadness ...and I find it hard to pick my fave out of them. I always find it strange that This Is What Makes Us Girls isn't very popular on here. The melody is brilliant and the production is the best on the album...I mean THAT ending.

Her voice is unbearable. Had to switch off at 1:25 because that post chorus is unlistenable.
  12. Hopefully this is a grower like the rest of their stuff.
  13. For me, Paradise was quite instant and I absolutely loved American, Body Electric, Gods and Monsters and Ride on first listen. However, the songs haven't really held up to repeated plays like the original album has. I think I prefer Emile's Lana productions which is why American is the only song I really listen to often on Paradise as well as Ride.
  14. Carmen live is pretty special. The pounding drum in the chorus is goosebump inducing.
  15. Blue Velvet is a decent enough cover and worked well on the ad, I just don't think it deserves to be included on the album. I'd have rather had a finished version of Never Let Me Go...that song would've gone nicely with Ride.

Agree. I thought he'd lost it when I heard Kiss Land but Belong To The World has reignited my interest in the Weeknd.

Feast for Crows isn't that great to be honest, but I loved Dance With Dragons, even though it does finish before the major things it's been leading up to happen. There's a brilliant Dany chapter that is possibly one of the best in the whole series. I think from now on the TV seasons won't be focusing on one book. I imagine the next three seasons will contain material from book 3,4 and 5 all mixed up. The timelines are already differing from the books.

I think it seems things haven't moved on because season 3 ends roughly two thirds of the way through Storm of Swords. In this book though, I feel like the majority of the characters' story lines culminate quite well, but most of them happen in the third act which is what will be season 4. I think already though you can see some big changes have happened, the biggest being that Dany now has her army and the Starks are out of the war of the five kings. I don't see the TV show catching up with the books too soon. There's just so much to happen yet in a Storm of Swords that I think season 4 will predominantly be the rest of that book. The only storyline I see being a problem is Dany's because after taking Yunkai she spends the rest of the book . Books 4 and 5 are both pretty hefty and they actually take place over the same period of time so will probably be combined for TV. The main problem is the story gets quite convoluted at this point with lots of smaller characters and sub plots that don't really go anywhere. There's probably 2 seasons worth of material there but I think the TV show will have to start getting very creative. If the TV show does catch up with the books, I was thinking it would be quite nice if there was maybe a season one year which covered Robert's rebellion and Rhaegar's death on the Trident and the sack of King's Landing. It something that becomes quite important for characters that appear later on.

Anyone else think that this wasn't gripping at all? YES, it was intriguing and I want to know more, but I didn't find any of the characters very compelling or interesting and I don't think you got a sense of anything else except the concept. I find Spiral is properly gripping French drama where you're actually invested in the plot and the characters. Maybe that will come over the next few weeks.

While I really enjoyed the finale and the last scene, I have a few gripes and they are the same problems I've had the whole season which is the way they build up to certain scenes. I just don't understand why they didn't save the battle of Yunkai scenes for episode 10, rather than have them in episode 9, which really should have been a purely Stark centric episode. Episode 10 could've included the battle of Yunkai and the Mhysa scene would've been the perfect conclusion. As it was, it felt completely tacked on. The same thing has happened a few times this season, like episode 4, again with an amazing Dany scene (that is the best thing that's ever been on telly), but it had absolutely no build up. And also Sam killing the White Walker. The scene from the start of episode 7 should've been in episode 8 as a prelude to the Sam the Slayer moment. As for Theon, the trouble with that storyline is that in the books, his torture is never really seen. *Slightly spoilerish* In the books, Theon is knocked out in Winterfell at the end of book 2 and you don't see him again until book 5. At this point, he's been psychologically worn down by Ramsay and you only really know of his torture through flashbacks. It's never even explicitly stated that Ramsay chopped his bits off although it is implied. It's got slightly more interesting now with Yara (Asha) coming to rescue him as this is a deviation from the books. The best moments for me in this episode were (obviously) Mhysa, but also the few reunions that took place. It was nice to see the Night's Watch together at Castle Black and also Jamie's return gave me goosebumps.

Is this medley just to show us how unsuccessful the Voice was at producing a popstar?

Even though I knew the Red Wedding was coming I still feel completely traumatised after seeing it. I don't think I breathed during the last 10 minutes.
  25. I've got a feeling this is going to be the x factor soundtrack this year.
