  1. Great song. Great video. This has reignited my interest in Arctic Monkeys.
  2. Seriously? People have been slating that performance on the interwebs. I thought it was average...nowhere near as good as the Grammys.

God, it looks so good. Even though I've read Clash of Kings I can't wait to see it realised. It's interesting to see they've brought the Jeyne Westerling story forward from the third book and I've also heard that Danaerys part is beefed up compared to the book.
  4. Prima Donna sounds amazing: XV2rUvraywg
  5. I saw Kanye when he was touring Graduation and he was pretty good. I'm thinking this is going to be epic though. The Niggas in Paris video has got me geed up for this show.
  6. £130 for two tickets. I am definitely poor now. I was having to do some frantic refreshing this morning to get those tickets.

If by "around here" you mean buzzjack, I think the 5 pages of thread he's got in this forum show he's pretty popular. And if you mean the UK, I think the amount of top 10 of 2011 lists the Weeknd showed up on again shows he does have a presence in the UK. All I'm saying is that in 2010, there's no way I would have given any time to slow jams like this. But then after House of Balloons and 4, I find myself with an ipod full of Drake, The Weeknd and Frank Ocean. That's just how trends work and it's why I think this will be a hit. Radio 1 have shown that they're on the ball with this latest RnB trend by having Frank Ocean on their Sound Of list, so I expect them to be giving this some heavy airplay.

I don't think people would be gushing over this as much as they are if it wasn't for the Weeknd. I know I certainly wouldn't.

Hmmm...I wouldn't really class Usher as some chart pioneer. I think all the songs you mentioned are more examples of Usher jumping on the bandwagon. Yeah! was probably the first big crunk&B song but crunk had already got pretty big from Lil Jon. I think Timbaland and The Way I Are was more the precursor to the europop craze and DJ Got Us Fallin In Love was just him keeping up with the trend. And I think Climax is just him adapting to the current trend. It's old territory for him but I honestly don't think he'd be back here if it wasn't for the Weeknd and Beyoncé.

So Weeknd. For that, I love it.
  11. Hopefully it picks up when Glee finishes and when it's not on Valentine's Day. It was a good episode as well...about to watch it again.
  12. It sounds like every post chorus drop that's become the in-thing since Only Girl. And it's becoming even more common thanks to We Found Love's big ravey post chorus drop. The only difference is is the synth is a really nasty sound.
  13. For some reason, I only find it funny when it's spelled Bonny Bear.
  14. Not loving Starships. I don't think Nicki needs to resort to this type of song for a pop hit. It's alright all in all...but I just hate the drop...such a mess. I want Nicki to be doing full songs like Monster. I think she should work with Bangladesh again. Did It On Em isn't great, but I'd love to hear Nicki with an instrumental like Cockiness.
  15. Lolita has grown on me actually. I think the verses are better than the chorus. I just don't really like the spelling out of DARK and PARK though...think it's a bit naff.
  16. I actually quite liked this performance until 2:30. I thought the Peggy Lee style talkyness was pretty nice. But that screech was just hilarious...she must be taking the mick!
  17. Best Barb line: "The filth is strong within you!" I actually cannot wait for season 3 to start. It's been too long.
  18. I got Default because it was single of the week on iTunes and it has just burrowed it's way into my brain. I think I'm going to check out the album.
  19. This won't be a hit. It has no appeal for UK audiences. Danza Kuduro and Gasolina are reggaeton which sounds great in clubs and both fit in with music that was released at the time. If Shakira couldn't get a hit with La Tortura and Juanes with La Camisa Negra, this won't go anywhere either. However...the thought just occurred that some Radio 1 DJ will start playing this and there will be endless hilarious (not hilarious) jokes with the DJ trying to sing along with lyrics they've made up.
  20. The video has just increased my love of this song by about 376%. Man!!! The video is so good. I didn't think there'd be a video that could top Run The World but here it is!!!

I'll be a quite disappointed if Fringe is cancelled. It's very hit and miss, sometimes going from brilliant to terrible from one week to the next, but when it's on form, it's some of the best TV out there. I think this alternate timeline storyline was a bad idea and has kind of killed the show. If they'd addressed it early in season 4 it would've been better, but they just tried to turn things back into a weekly procedural when really, the only people watching now are people that have watched every season. This is kind of the main problem, Fringe is a procedural but it has a big over arching storyline and mythology, so it will never attract people thinking they'll jump in for one episode because the mythology is too complex, but it also puts fans off when you want to know what's going to happen next in the big story and instead they give you a crappy story about a husband time travelling to save his wife. Like I say, it's a shame, because the recent episodes since the break have been good. Ideally, they'll get something like a 12 episode season 5 to tie things up.

God, it looks amazing. Even though I've read the books, I can't wait to see it realised on TV. The scene with Sansa looks like they've not shied away from how nasty it is in the book and the burning of the seven looks suitably epic... The Stannis storyline is such a great new element to the narrative.

Does Teleport 2 Me sample that song from Drive? It's pretty good... Going to put this on my ipod.
  24. I was going to say, the instruments sound so cheap and nasty... like they've got a casio keyboard on trumpet setting. This is how you do a 7 nation army cover: iQ4D273C7Ac
  25. 10 Born To Die 08 Off To The Races 10 Blue Jeans 10 Video Games 08 Diet Mtn Dew 07 National Anthem (demo would be 10) 07 Dark Paradise 08 Radio 07 Carmen 08 Million Dollar Man 09 Summertime Sadness 09 This is what makes us girls 08 Without You 06 Lolita 08 Lucky Ones This is my initial rating, although I can see some improving with time, like Radio. At first it was quite unassuming, but today it came on shuffle in my car and it just clicked as awesome. I think the reason people might be a bit underwhelmed by this album is because, like me, they are listening to it as half an album because they already had quite a few of the songs, and they happen to be the best ones. Now the songs are all getting their own identity after a few listens and I can see how good they are. My main criticism of this album is that it's all quite one note. The songs are all similar tempo, structure and mood. National Anthem and This Is What Makes Us Girls seem to have been brought in line with the other songs on the album, but I think the originals would have been better because they would've added some variation.
