October 04, 1955 Elvis performed at the Boys Club Gymnasium, Paris, Texas. This was sponsored by the Optimist Club. October 04, 1958 Elvis joined Vernon, Minnie, Red West and Lamar Fike for dinner, after they checked in a hotel in Bad Homburg. A crowd gathered outside. October 04, 1965 With the Dodge Motor Home Elvis and the gang drove back from the shooting of Paradise Hawaiian Style to Memphis. They made their usual stop at the Holiday Inn on Route 66 in Albuquerque. October 04, 1967 Elvis flew to Los Angeles with Sonny West, Joe Esposito, Billy Smith, Gee Gee Gambill and Charlie Hodge. October 04, 1968 Elvis went to the Crosstown Theater to watch Gone With The Wind. October 04, 1974 Elvis performed at the Olympia Stadium, Detroit, Michigan. October 04, 1976 Elvis was spotted riding on his motorcycle in Memphis. After that he left to join Linda Thompson at her new apartment not far from her old one in West L.A.

October 03, 1945 Elvis entered a talent contest at the annual Mississippi - Alabama Fair and Diary Show, in the middle of the town. His teacher, Mrs. Oleta Grimes, had arranged this, after she heard Elvis sing that morning at school. Elvis sung "Old Shep", while standing on a chair and without any accompaniment. He won the 5th prize, probably good for some free rides at the fair. He got spanked by his mother the same day, while he took the more "dangerous" rides. October 03, 1955 Elvis performed at the G. Rolle White Coliseum, College Station, Texas. This was the beginning of a four-day tour with other Hayride acts. October 03, 1956 The Colonel was debating with RCA about a new five year contract. Elvis would receive an advance of $135.000 against 5 % royalty together with a weekly payment of $1.000. However he was required to make at least 10 appearances in person or on radio or television to promote his recordings. The contract was signed on October the 18th. October 03, 1966 Principal photography began on Easy Come, Easy Go, Elvis' last picture for Hal Wallis and Paramount. October 03, 1972 Elvis and Linda returned to Los Angeles, after a stay in Palm Springs and the couple flew home to Memphis the following evening. October 03, 1974 For the second day Elvis performed at the Civic Center, St. Paul, Minnesota. October 03, 1977 The CBS special, which was shot in June, was aired. The night of the show Myrna Smith told Jerry Schilling on the phone: " It really went great, Elvis really looks good. He's lost a little weight". After watching the CBS special on the air, Myrna burst out in tears, crying: " We were all wearing blinders".

October 02, 1954 The Grand Ole Opry, Ryman Auditorium, Nashville, Tennessee. Ever since Elvis was in the regional Billboard charts, Sam Philips had tried to get Elvis in the Opry. Finally he succeeded, thanks to Opry manager Bill Denny. After the Opry Elvis appeared briefly on the Midnight Jamboree Radio show, hosted by Ernest Tubb. All was broadcasted live. Elvis told to Tubb that his real ambition is to sing country music. So Tubb's advise to Elvis was that Elvis should be doing that until he would be good enough for something else. October 02, 1957 Elvis watched a special screening of Jailhouse Rock accompanied by his parents. October 02, 1958 Elvis was assigned to the Ray Kaserne barracks in Friedberg. Before he was declared off-limits to the press, there was a news conference, at which Elvis answered all the now well known questions of the reporters. October 02, 1971 In Palm Springs at the Frontier Gun Shop Elvis bought 6 guns and a pair of derringers along with ammunition. October 02, 1974 Elvis performed at the Civic Center, St. Paul, Minnesota. October 02, 1977 The bodies of both Elvis and Gladys Presley were moved to the Meditation Garden behind Graceland. This took place under supervision of Sam Thompson.

October 01, 1954 Elvis, Scotty and Bill played The Eagle's Nest in Memphis, a nightclub over the changing room at the Clearpool complex. October 01, 1955 Elvis performed on the Louisiana Hayride, Municipal Auditorium, Shreveport October 01, 1956 Elvis recorded an extra verse of Love Me Tender on the Fox sound stage for use over the final credits of the movie. The backing vocals and strings were subsequently overdubbed. October 01, 1957 Elvis appeared on a WMCT radio and TV fund raising event in Memphis, where he told the audience that the shooting of his next movie would begin on October 30. He didn't sing here. October 01, 1958 At 8.46 a.m. the USS Randall docked at the German port of Bremerhaven, where were over 1500 fans and an army of press. Elvis and his battalion took a troop train from Bremerhaven to Friedberg, arriving at 7.30 p.m. October 01, 1965 Elvis completed dubbing on Paradise Hawaiian Style after which he left for Memphis. October 01, 1967 Elvis went to Nashville again, to Studio B, to record 3 songs for his soundtrack of his next film, Stay Away Joe. Elvis was not involved in the song selection and was so discouraged by the lack of quality of the movie material that he made Felton Jarvis swear that he would never release one of its songs on record. October 01, 1968 Dewey Philips had died and Elvis attended his funeral at the Memphis Funeral Home, where 10 years earlier the funeral of his mother were held too. He offered Dewey's widow his condolences and said: Mrs. Dorothy, Dewey was my friend. October 01, 1969 Elvis flew to Dallas, returning the following day. October 01, 1974 Elvis performed at the University of Notre Dame's Athletic and Convention Centre, South Bend, Indiana.

September 30, 1955 James Dean was killed. Elvis heard the news when he was in the Gladewater hotel and he cried. September 30, 1956 Elvis, Gene Smith and Nick Adams flew back to Los Angeles, where Elvis and Gene checked into the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. September 30, 1963 The soundtrack recording for Kissin Cousins began. They started at 7.00 p.m. till 3.30 a.m. Elvis did not record his part because he had a cold. He did came over though to meet the director, Gene Nelson, who also played congas with the band. September 30, 1965 Photography on Paradise Hawaiian Style was completed. Tom Jones came to the set and met Elvis for the very first time. When there were some photos taken Elvis started to sing Jones' hit What's New Pussy Cat. September 30, 1969 Again Elvis was at the movies, watching Midnight Cowboy. Although at home for some time now, Elvis did not often appear at the Graceland gates to meet his fans. September 30, 1974 Elvis performed at the University of Notre Dame's Athletic and Convention Center, South Bend, Indiana.

September 29, 1960 Elvis had a luncheon interview at the set of Flaming Star with Vernon Scott. Together with some other friends from Memphis, Gary Pepper, a 27 year old MS victim, whom Elvis called his friend. Gary stayed in the inner circle of Memphis' friends until his death. September 29, 1963 The soundtrack recording for Kissin Cousins began. They started at 7.00 p.m. till 3.30 a.m. Elvis did not record his part because he had a cold. He did came over though to meet the director, Gene Nelson, who also played congas with the band. September 29, 1966 Elvis had an appointment at the studio to get his hair cut. Instead of that he had his hair cut at home and arrived to late for his recording session. However, by midnight he had completed several songs, including She's A Machine. September 29, 1974 Elvis performed at the Olympia Stadium, Detroit, Michigan at 2.30 p.m. but due to illness Elvis only performed there for 30 minutes. September 29, 1975 Through Georg Klein Elvis got the message singer Jackie Wilson suffered a stroke. Immediately Elvis sent a check to pay for the hospital expenses and medical bills.

September 28, 1955 Elvis performed at the B & B Club, Gobler, Missouri. September 28, 1966 Elvis arrived too late for a wardrobe fitting, and went for lunch in his dressing room. Therefore he was way too late for his recording session. They even noted that in the production notes. September 28, 1968 Dewey Philips, the DJ who was the first to play Elvis' records on the air, died. Elvis told a local reporter: " I am awfully hurt and feel very sorry about Dewey's death. We were very good friends, and I have always appreciated everything he did for me in helping me in my career in the early days". September 28, 1971 Elvis returned to Los Angeles, where he would only spent the night, to leave for Palm Springs the next day. September 28, 1972 Elvis flew to Palm Springs with Linda Thompson for a long weekend. September 27, 1957 Elvis drove to Tupelo with Anita Wood and his parents and some friends. In the local paper Elvis was called "the best ambassador any town could have" and urged all townspeople to give him a warm welcome. Elvis performed at the Fairgrounds, Tupelo, for the benefit of the planned Elvis Presley Youth Center. There was a crowd of 12,000 people and he was accompanied by Hank Garland, D.J. Fontana and Chuck Wiggington, a friend of D.J., on bass. September 27, 1966 Elvis went to Paramount for preproduction for Easy Come, Easy Go. He attended a music meeting with Hall Wallis and John Rich, director. September 27, 1969 Elvis returned to Memphis. September 27, 1974 Elvis performed at the University of Maryland Cole Fieldhouse, College Park, Maryland. The media as well as the fans were puzzled about Elvis performance throughout this tour. Tony Brown however witnessed Elvis getting out of his limousine, fall to his knees and even sleepwalk through the entire show.

September 26, 1955 Elvis began another tour booked by Bob Neal. Elvis performed at the Junior High School Gym, Gilmer, Texas. September 26, 1956 Elvis drove to Tupelo with his parents, Nick Adams and Barbara Hearn. Elvis had to appear at the Mississippi Alabama Fair And Diary Show. He performed here for the first time at the age of 10. Elvis was wearing a blue velvet shirt, made for him by Natalie Wood's dressmaker. Tammy Wynette, at the age of 14, watched the show from the first row. The show was filmed by Fox Movietone News, but the bad audio made it almost a "silent" movie. September 26, 1957 Elvis and some friends spent the evening at the Fairgrounds, attracting a huge crowd. September 26, 1964 Elvis and the whole caravan left for Hollywood. September 26, 1968 Elvis went to the Memphian, like almost every night for this period in Graceland. He was accompanied by Priscilla, Sonny, Gee Gee, Charlie and Lamar. They watched The Thomas Crown Affair, with Steve McQueen and Hang 'Em High, with Clint Eastwood. September 26, 1970 Elvis spent the weekend in Palm Springs. September 26, 1974 Elvis flew out of Memphis to begin his 4th tour of 1974. September 26, 1976 Elvis flew from Palm Springs to Memphis.

September 25, 1956 Elvis received a telegram from RCA with official congratulations for an industry first when additional orders made the single Love Me Tender a gold record before it was even released. RCA got 918230 orders before even releasing the single. September 25, 1964 Elvis watched a movie again: Dr. Strangelove at the Memphian. He had just hired Mike Keaton to come to California with the group and in the very early morning he asked Jerry Schilling too to come with them. September 25, 1968 Elvis flew home to Memphis and arrived at 6.00 a.m. September 25, 1969 Elvis flew to Nashville with Charlie Hodge to add some vocal overdubs on several songs.

September 23, 1955 Elvis attended a show by the Blackwood Brothers at Ellis Auditorium in Memphis. When James Blackwood discovered that Elvis bought his own ticket to get in , he set his apologies along with a refund. September 23, 1956 Elvis flew to Memphis, together with Nick Adams and Gene Smith. On this trip he used the name Clint Reno, just like the character from his last movie, Love Me Tender. In the evening Elvis was seen at the Memphis Fairgrounds with Nick Adams. September 23, 1963 Back home in Memphis Elvis went to the Memphian almost every night to watch some films. September 23, 1964 Elvis had a chest X ray and some blood tests and again didn't attend the movies. His schedule for Los Angeles was delayed. September 23, 1970 Elvis returned to Memphis, where he watched a movie at the Crosstown, before leaving for Los Angeles the next day. September 23, 1973 In the mobile recording truck RCA had sent to Elvis home in Palm Springs the recording continued from 7.00 p.m. till 3.15 a.m. with Elvis completing Are You Sincere and I Miss You. RCA just got enough for one album now.

September 22, 1955 Elvis performed at the Civic Auditorium, Kingsport, Tennessee, which was the last show of a tour. September 22, 1958 The troop train arrived in Brooklyn at 9.00 a.m. Elvis held a press conference and once again expressed his hope that the fans won't forget him. He walked up the gangplank of the USS Randall 8 times, carrying his duffel bag, so the press could all get a good shot. During the crossing Elvis and Charlie became good friends. Charlie cheered him up. September 22, 1962 Elvis was at Radio Recorders from 11.30 a.m. to 11.00 p.m. to complete soundtrack recording for It Happened At The World's Fair. Don Robertson, songwriter, was invited to play at the session, either piano or organ. September 22, 1964 Elvis called Dr. Charles Clarke, because Elvis wasn't well. Clarke came out to Graceland and submitted a bill of $10 for a house call. September 22, 1969 Elvis flew back home to Memphis arriving very early in the morning. He remained in Memphis until 5 October, except for some brief trips to Nashville and Dallas. September 22, 1970 A day late and in a terrible mood Elvis arrived at the RCA studio in Nashville at 7.00 p.m. The entire evening Elvis tried to speed up things and in 6 hours time they recorded both sides of a single. (Where Did They Go, Lord and Rags To Riches) They also completed the 2 songs left to complete the country album. Due to absence James Burton was replaced by Eddie Hinton on lead guitar. September 22, 1973 RCA wanted Elvis to complete at least 4 vocals for tracks Felton Jarvis had already recorded. So with the approval of the Colonel, there was a mobile recording truck sent to Elvis' home in Palm Springs. Elvis however was busy with his new group Voice. After spending a lot of time with Voice for their demos, Elvis finally completed the overdubbing of one of his own songs: Sweet Angeline at 3.00 a.m.
