  7. A single-strand of Elvis Presley's trademark quiff could be sold off for a snip when it goes under the hammer today. The hair - which is encased in a framed picture of The King and comes with a letter of authenticity - has no reserve price at the auction house in Northumberland. But Elvis fans looking for a bargain may be deterred from bidding when they hear that in 2009, a clump of the Rock and Roll singer's hair fetched a jaw-dropping £11,500 in America. The latest Elvis strand was discovered as part of a deceased collector's belongings and nearly went undetected until someone noticed it behind the picture. The lucky winning bidder will also receive a letter from a man called Thomas Morgan who knew Elvis and claims to have been a friend of The King's hairdresser, Holme Gileland. The star's hairdresser is said to have treasured a bag of hair clippings he built up while on the road with Elvis and had deemed it one of his prized possessions. Jim Railton, from the Northern Auction Centre in Wooler, Northumberland, said: "It's not something you come across every day and it's here to be sold for whatever it makes on the day, there's no reserve. "It could make £50, it could make £5,000 but it is a rare thing and we are quite confident it is what it says it is." A total of 2,000 Elvis Presley records are also going on sale at an auction house in Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk today. The 2,000 records include rare first pressings and every Elvis single ever produced. They are being sold by retired teacher Bill Wood who started the collection in 1956.
