Tories laugh at people who have no food to eat
My personal opinion on foodbanks is that they should all be closed down What started out as i am sure a very noble and well meaning idea has been hijacked by the left and left leaning charities as a stick to beat the government with The very rare cases of someone genuinely needing food should be handled by charities or the church supplying some supermarket vouchers to the person to get some food, especially elderly or disabled people If people were more responsible with money or managed money better there would be no need for them to be given free food, it is unfair to expect to be bailed out with free food if you have a smartphone, Sky TV, plasma tv, games console, any alcohol or cigarettes in the house or gamble, free food just acts as a crutch to bail out the weak minded and irresponsible, which imho makes up the majority of cases of the 500k grabbing free food. Plus with these 500k where are their family? where are their friends? they should be helping them out Also going by the twitter debate lots of people who use food banks are under JSA sanction, again why should people who refuse to look for a job or turn down a job or leave a job voluntarily or walk out on the work programme or not bother turning up on time to sign on or for an interview be given free food almost as a reward for their misconduct? wrong on so many levels So long as people know there is free food out there they will not take responsibility for their lifestyles be it not wasting money on alcohol/cigarettes/sky/betting, be it applying for jobs and not refusing work, be it buying the wrong foods or whatever With actions have to come consequences and people have to learn this Time the foodbanks were closed down and replaced with food vouchers for means tested extreme cases and the homeless.

OPINION POLLS: Labour maintain lead
The trend is downwards though, there were several polls at the end of last week/weekend showing the lead at 4 points so what has happened since then that would double the lead? with further good economic news this week it is far more credible to believe a 2 point lead than a doubling of the recent trend
-
OPINION POLLS: Labour maintain lead
Definitely a rogue poll or outlier ;) Unemployment fell by 99,000 today, the good news just keeps flooding in Its taking time for people to truly thank the tories but i am confident that by March we will be leading in some polls

OPINION POLLS: Labour maintain lead
But the trend is downwards, there has been several lately showing a 4% lead so it is more likely that the 7% is a rogue poll All the economy is going to do over the next 17 months is improve according to every significant economic indicator and the governer of the BOE so Labour have well and truly peaked Add in pre election tax cuts (a certainty according to Boris) and the likelyhood of many UKIP supporters returning to the fold on election day and it makes it a question of how big the majority for Cameron will be or whether he will be stuck with the lib dems again not whether Ed will be pm

OPINION POLLS: Labour maintain lead
Latest YouGov poll have the Labour lead down to 2% :D With 16 months to go till the election it is clear more and more people are feeling good about their finances and the state of the economy There is going to be a lot of tears for the cleaners of Labour HQ to mop up in the morning

Premier League / Football League 13/14
Right decision to sack AVB Should have happened after the City game, least he has gone now Tactically clueless, no plan B, if something isn't working stick to it anyway in the hope it does, that was AVB's belief I would personally bring Harry back, had us playing great football, got us in the Top 4 on 3 occasions, far less of a risk than the others The ones being talked about today are Capello - Old, hates the media, would cost an arm and 2 legs to buy out of his Russian contract Laudrup - Taking Swansea backwards despite massive investment by their standards De Boer - Great style of play but never managed in Prem, could be the next Jol Mancini - Horiffic man manager, would lose the dressing room in 5 mins Hoddle - Hasn't managed in about 10 years Redknapp for me

BBC Sports Personality of The Year 2013
Same could be said for Mansell tbh, he was the ultimate moaner and whiner much as he was an awesome driver Hill had/has a very dull and boring personality yet won the award twice etc
-
BBC Sports Personality of The Year 2013
Very odd how black athletes or sports people get no recognition though, last black winner of SPOTY was nearly 15 years ago We have had Farah winning 2 olympic golds and 2 world championship golds We have had Lewis Hamilton winning the F1 title in 2008 and nearly winning it in his rookie year of 2007 yet neither time he won SPOTY, yet white Nigel Mansell and white Damon Hill both won it, Hill twice We have had outstanding black performers such as Denise Lewis, Colin Jackson etc who haven't had a look in Its very suspicious, cant help but think a black sportsperson just wont win public votes
-
BBC Sports Personality of The Year 2013
Predictably Murray won, not a surprise, and despite my dislike of him he was a worthy winner But the snubbing of Mo Farah yet again was nothing short of a disgrace To win 2 olympic golds and 2 world championship golds and not make top 3 in voting in successive years is outrageous As Ali G would say 'is it because i is black'? in Mo Farah's case absolute yes, its due to him being black

Welcome to HMP Holiday Inn
One of the prime targets for attack or robbery or burglary are elderly people, many would not have a computer for example, elderly people especially ones living on their own in rough estates etc would probably not have much of that list bar a shower and even then its likely to be a basic one

But is it right that prisoners should have better conditions in jail than many of their victims? Many of their victims wouldn't have a computer, tv, phone in room, hot shower etc

A soft justice system and soft prison system just encourages people to take the law into their own hands. If someone robbed my house i would want to know that he is not having a cushy life behind bars and is paying a pretty hard price for robbing my house, regardless of whether tough conditions lead to reoffending or not at least justice is being seen to be done and the victim can have a small sense of satisfaction that the burglar is not having it easy in jail and instead is in a cold cell, has a bucket to do his jobs in and has very basic standards of food Otherwise might as well just find out who the burglar is and rough him up with a baseball bat

Facebook and Twitter are banned from my workplace via filters, they can be got round in a nano second, filters are a complete waste of time, plus what would stop a criminal using a proxy etc?

I think the prison system needs to be reformed Shoplifters, non council tax payers, benefit chests, fraudsters etc should not be in prison at all, exceptionally tough back breaking community work would be more appropriate But anyone guilty of rape, paedophilia, robbery, ABH or GBH, murder, attempted murder, burglary, class A drug dealing etc should enter a harsh extremely tough prison system Backbreaking hard work, physical exercise or/and education for the entire day, basic rations of food, legal but not comfortable standards of bedding, cold damp dreary environment, a bucket to 'slop out' in Basically psychologically break them to the point where they think 'f*** this, i never want to come here again' When i was in school we had the cane, i was caned, i saw kids who were absolute quivering wrecks outside the headmasters study while waiting to be caned, i saw one boy shaking and crying while he was waiting for the cane, i bet he never was caned again, point being i want to see criminals cower in terror at the thought of being before a judge or having a knock on the door from the police. Fear of going to prison is an important part of justice, it must be restored

Welcome to HMP Holiday Inn
Even if you were right in what you say cant you see the dangers in giving prisoners computers and phones? A prisoner could use computer or phone to sanction intimidation of witnesses, revenge attacks on people who gave evidence, a drug baron could organise shipments of cocaine from the inside, a paedophile could trawl the net harassing people in chatrooms or view porn, at least with a prison visit screws can monitor communications, with a phone in the wing wall screws can listen in on what is being said, how will that be able to happen in the confines of a cell? How can anyone know what a prisoner will be up to 24/7 with a computer and phone in his cell?

1) To scare them off committing crimes again 2) To show the victim that something is being done about the scumbag

Welcome to HMP Holiday Inn
The problem is though that with many people prison would be a better standard of living and better standard of comfort to what they have on the outside Many people on sink estates and tower blocks etc would consider a prison 'cell', or should i say suite, with tv, phone, computer, room service and hot shower to be an UPGRADE on what it is like on the outside for them, so i fail to see where the punishment element in it is Prisons should be worse standards of living than the worst standards of living on the outside If i was poor and living in an absolute shithole, being sent to one of these places would feel like winning the lottery Wrong on so many levels

Welcome to HMP Holiday Inn
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-25...tech-jails.html Unbelieveable Prison cells are to be fitted with phones, tv sets, showers, room service meals, computer terminals and other gadgets, effectively becoming a hotel where you can't check out of automatically How on earth is turning prisons into Holiday Inn's going to reform prisoners? how is it punishing them? what incentive is there for prisoners not to turn to crime again? Prisons should go back to the old days of a hard bed, a bucket to slop out in and a place where prisoners are punished not treated like VIP's

OPINION POLLS: Labour maintain lead
I agree with most of this There is no real reason in this country for an able bodied person to be out of work for a long time, 2 years or more, if they are then they are either working on the side cash in hand, are not interested in working, are not trying hard enough or are being too picky in their choices. If an immigrant with basic or no grasp of our language can come thousands of miles and get a job in the UK there is no reason for an able bodied born and bred Brit to be long term unemployed, the long term unemployed need a sharp dose of reality, be it harsh benefit cuts, full time workfare till they get a job or no benefits of any sort paid after a certain cut off point What i would do is give someone 2 years to get a job, if they do not then slash all of their benefits by 50% and if by the end of the next year they have still not got a job then stop all benefits completely, work or starve, they would work then. Britain is too soft

OPINION POLLS: Labour maintain lead
The work programme has been a massive flop, haven't like a single figure % got jobs since going on it? You can take a horse to water, but you cant make it drink... If someone doesn't want to work it does not matter what programmes you put them on, but after 3 years if you tell them they can work or starve they would be knocking on every single office/shop/factory door in their town asking for work

The age in which pensions can be activated will need to go up, to around 70, instead of 65 Indeed, by taking unemployed people out of private rents and social housing we are freeing up properties for working people be it private rents or social housing, helps free up more housing

OPINION POLLS: Labour maintain lead
Re tax - We are attracting more and more foreigners into this country, we are the country of choice for Chinese, Hong Kong, Singapore, France high earners to move to, the Sunday Times said the other week that London is France's 4th biggest city in terms of population and the reason for this is our tax rates, if we lower tax even more then even more high earning foreigners will come here to live and set up businesses, these people were attracted by lower taxes so do pay tax Re hostels - I don't think unemployed should be entitled to social housing, we need to incentivise work and convince the unemployed that work is the solution to life so they should not be entitled to private rents or social housing imho, with hostels they can have computer rooms for them to do job search, wifi in the rooms, there can be a canteen set up on site where they are getting food, they could have their own room no need to share 10 to a room, it would be basic Blackpool B+B standard accomodation, it is not about treating them like animals but about convincing them work is the answer, if we pay for them to rent in the private sector what incentive is there for them to get a job? Re kids - We need kids in the UK but we need the right type of kids, by funding the breeding programs of chavs and their feral brats we are eroding the social and moral fabric of our society, we need kids being born but decent well grounded kids from working families who are going to be taught morals and a work ethic, by subsidising chavs to breed feral brats with no limits we are going to pay for it later in the way of more crime, i want middle class kids to be born to hard working families who are going to be considerate and hard working, I fully support eugenics, the right type of kids need to be born not ones who will be on Jeremy Kyle in a few years, eugenics is the way forward, stop funding chavs to breed and bring in more and more middle class babies who will be bought up with positive traits By restricting child benefit to one kid we are taking away the incentive for chavs to breed a kid that will be bought up on benefits and will likely end up on benefits itself, and by restricting child benefit we would be having mums who can afford to bring up a kid hence the right type of kids

Will comment on the rest tomorrow as have to go in a sec but JSA does not end at 6 months, they simply go to income based JSA, I regularly read on DS of people being on JSA for years

Should MPs get an 11% pay rise?
Osborne famously said 'we are all in this together' while proceeding to effectively cut the pay of nurses and soldiers, so how are MPs going to show they are 'all in this together' by accepting a rise 11 times that of a soldier and nurse? When nurses and soldiers etc start getting inflation busting pay rises so should MPs, till then they can struggle along on their 65k salary, generous expenses and heavily subsidised caviar
