  1. Right decision for him, deserves more than being Marko/Vettel's bitch I will miss him, tells it like it is IMHO Ricciardo will replace him
  2. Neil showed yet again he is on another level to any other candidate this year. His pitch won the team the 2500 i think it was orders that won the round. Hard to pick a winner at this stage as ultimately it is about the business plan but on performances Neil deserves to win.
  3. I agree particularly with the last part, Alan Johnson is a decent guy, down to earth and understands the working man. He knows what it is like to get up at 5am for a shift unlike the career politicians and 'special advisers' who go straight into politics after uni without any career life experience. But because he sounds like a working man he is looked down on by the toffs of the metropolitan and old school tie political elite.
  4. Because I can't stand the Daily Mail Vile paper - racist, homophobic, little Englander mentality, hypocritical too moralising about Jeremy Forrest while at the same time posting pictures of Kylie Jenner ( younger than Megan ) in a skimpy bikini. I am not a Daily Mail reader, Telegraph thank you.
  5. Cameron is the incumbent, has the advantage, if 2 parties go into election with the same ideas the 'better the devil you know' factor comes well into play.
  6. Ed is clueless Labour won't win an election (thank god) on the basis of a tory agenda and simply not being the tories The guy has no vision for Britain, no sense of change, he just reads a Daily Mail editorial and sets the agenda based on that.
  7. Sad to see Jason go, lovely bloke, but hopelessly out of his depth as a project manager, couldn't handle the responsibility. Can't see beyond Neil as the eventual winner
  8. Lockerbie, the murder of WPC Fletcher, they have already happened, incidents where Gaddafi loyalists have caused terrorism on British soil, these happened while he was alive but for example the Lockerbie bombing was a revenge attack for America bombing Tripoli 2 years before Lockerbie. We weren't involved in the bombing of Tripoli by Reagan but were seen as Americas closest ally so double whammy, USA airliner blown up over British mainland, so we had associates of a mad dictator letting off bombs in revenge for attacking him so what is to say it won't happen again with Syria if we get involved in stuff that is not our business? I have 2 concerns with Assad being toppled. 1) Extremists taking control who want a conflict with Israel 2) UK being attacked by Syrian agents in revenge for bringing down Assad, you deny it will happen but Lockerbie showed it could
  9. I am not an apologist for middle eastern dictators, shed no tears when Hussein and Gaddafi were executed or Mubarak arrested nor will I shed any if Assad is killed or arrested but ultimately it is not our business to get involved, we should let these nations sort their problems out themselves. We poke our nose into Syria then we are a sitting duck for homegrown extremists to attack us again. 7/7, 21/7, Glasgow, the murder of Drummer Lee Rigby were as a direct result of us getting involved in nations that are not our business and last thing we need is Assad loyalists letting off bombs in the UK. We should stay well out of Syria even as an arms supplier.
  10. Egypt is ruled by the Muslim Brotherhood, if they are not extremists I would hate to see what your definition of extremist is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muslim_Brotherhood if you think Egypt is a better and safer place with these wackos in charge whatever floats your boat but these guys are only marginally better than the taliban. Libya is hopelessly divided, remember the farce about Gadaffi's son and his arrest? one tribe refusing to hand him over to another, Libya is a very unstable place. Extremists get a foothold in Syria post Assad then god help the region, Al Qaeda or Hezbollah suddenly deciding to fire some of those missiles Syria has on the Golan Heights at Israel would cause severe problems, Assad unpleasant though he is is unlikely to attack Israel, the extremists would in a heartbeat.
  11. Its time the whole concept was canned for good, yet again a cast of freaks, weirdos and TOWIE rejects. The first BB was great, normal people, the type you would see in the street and in the pub, even the first 4 or 5 were, but this lot yet again bear no resemblance to real life. How many of us know someone who gets 10k a month from the bank of daddy? How many of us know highly paid male prostitutes? How many of us see a Sallie type around our shopping centres or in the Dog and Duck? The girls are all caked in fake tan and have massive boobs as if they were auditioning for TOWIE, 'glamour models' my arse, more like boob job and paying for a photographic session. Only one I have seen so far that reflects real life is that black boxer bloke, seems a really nice guy. C5 are embarrassing themselves
  12. Status Quo - Rockin' All Over The World Few know of the John Fogerty original
  13. What is going on in Syria is clearly dreadful but it is not our job to get involved, Iraq and Afghanistan has put us in the firing line for terrorism and Egypt and Libya 'liberation' have hardly been successes, extremists and tribes rule the roost now. Even just supplying arms is going to cause us problems in years to come. Assad, unsavoury though he is is a better bet than having Al Qaeda and other extremists have control over the country. Hope Assad wins this conflict, not because I like him but the alternatives will make the region way more unstable.

  15. Ridiculous rubbish Chris, not even going to bother debating this one
  16. Jason <3 Reminds me of a young Boris Johnson, so posh and such a bumbling fool and hilarious with it Neil or Myles to win but Jason is a legend
  17. Bit of a pointless tournament, might as well just skip to the inevitable Brazil v Spain final

In my school, don't know if it was different as it was an inner city comprehensive, there was a hardcore of about 4 out of a class of 30 odd who had absolutely no interest in any subjects, 3 of them loved sport and were pretty much the best athletes in the school but they found academic subjects boring and would sit at the back of the class and talk and laugh and roll up bits of paper into a ball and throw them at the back of the heads of the brighter kids, generally they were a pain in the arse and were right the way through their 3rd-5th year (year 9 to 11 now?) No change in their attitudes to lessons at all.

You can take a horse to water but you can't make it drink as the saying goes The kid who is 14 and hates school and has literacy and/or numeracy problems is unlikely to change between 14 and 16, so they will just carry on through the education system and leave it barely literate so its better to train them up for a trade IMHO rather than drag them through 2 years of subjects they have no interest in. With a lack of interest in academic subjects they are likely to be disruptive and hold back or interrupt kids who want to learn and get good grades so best to offer them an option at 14 of learning a trade.

We are from a similar generation, I left in 82 and likewise I never covered those things in school but the labour market has changed considerably since then Population explosion People retiring later Women working, which was quite rare in our day Migrant labour More jobs in our day The labour market has changed so much since we were at school for the above and other reasons so the education system should reflect that IMHO and basically become a gateway to work as opposed to teaching such a broad range of subjects. I included sciences as there is a maths element to it and mathematical skills are essential especially as more and more jobs are IT and admin related.

With nearly 1m young people unemployed in this country and the same number again 'economically inactive' it is time that schools stopped focusing on bullshit that kids will not need once they leave school and instead focus on things that will help them in the job market What good is it a youth leaving school and the following happening at an employment agency when they register Agency - "can you write a good covering letter"? Applicant - "no never been taught that but i can name every king and queen" Agency - "right, ok, what about cv and application form"? Applicant - "no sorry but I once read the whole of Hamlet" The majority of stuff kids learn at school is unimportant but they are ill equipped with regards important stuff when they leave school. Needs sorting, no use just blaming the government for youth unemployment, the education system is churning out unemployable youths too.

They wouldn't be leaving at 14, they would simply be swapping the classroom for technical college where they would learn a trade, simply opting out of academic education would not be an option, they would have to be offered and accepted onto a course like car mechanics, plumbing, carpentry or whatever at a college.

What is more useful to society... A 14 year old sitting at the back of the class dossing and interrupting the teaching of academically minded kids or a 14 year old learning car mechanics or carpentry or plumbing at a college and then being assured of an apprenticeship at the end of the 2 years? Far more useful to them that they learn a trade, far more useful than wasting 2 years in academics. The leave school at 14 would only be for those who enrol in technical college and commit to the course, they don't then they are straight back to school. In terms of academic subjects they need to be changed to reflect the real world, what good is it a kid leaving school knowing about all the kings and queens but not how to write a cv or business plan or manage money? Business IT Maths Sciences Financial Management Economics English language Employment skills Communication Should all be mandatory subjects in school that every kid has to do so they are equipped for the real world

The whole education system needs reforming, education is meant to be a pathway into the world of work and more and more people are leaving school ill equipped for the world of work. What is the point in knowing about kings and queens or every line of Hamlet but not knowing how to write a cv or manage money? The company I work for tried to recruit a young person they could train up in the marketing department, 48 applications, many with people with some good exam grades but in life skills, constructing a readable cv and covering letter they were bloody useless, we finally took on a young guy from Latvia. Schools should put less emphasis on bullshit like English lit and more teaching kids life skills, communication skills, business and financial skills etc to prepare them for the world of work. Also kids should be allowed to leave school at 14 to learn a trade at college, what is the point in forcing kids who don't want to learn to do GCSE's? They will just disrupt those that do want to learn, let them leave at 14 provided they learn a trade like building, plumbing, mechanics or whatever. Gove's reforms are a start but just papering over the cracks.
  25. Nobody believes Labour any more, it is a trust issue more than anything else. War criminal Blair and bankrupter Brown have set Labour's image back a generation, any policy pledge they make that they think will tap into the mood of the country will not be taken seriously, that is why this tough talk on welfare is not gaining them any votes, people know labour are full of hot air, empty vessels making the most noise. Ed could announce tomorrow that he will abolish income tax if he gets elected or raise pensions by £100 a week but no one will believe him. After nearly bankrupting Britain and accumulating the debt they did I don't know how labour MP's can keep a straight face when they are asking for another chance, just hope this country isn't mug enough to give it!
