  1. After how many years and appeals and millions in legal costs to the taxpayer? It is exceptionally hard getting someone deported these days because of the HRA
  2. The act is hated in this country We are unable to deport terrorists and hate preachers because of their 'right to a family life' and prisoners want the vote etc so until we get rid of the ridiculous abuse of the HRA by people then there is rightly strong public support to scrap it I would be in favour of radical reform of it but if that doesn't happen then get rid of it
  3. All parties are guilty of it, happened a lot under Blair/Brown too
  4. Even if 1 small business goes under it is one too many and at least 1 more person needing benefits Tesco, Asda, Vodafone, NEXT etc, no excuse not to pay a living wage, they can easily afford it, but a small business should not be forced to pay it
  5. Again as long as small businesses are exempt then why not, if it is going to get welfare budget down by less reliance on in work benefits it is less of my tax money shelled out
  6. Small businesses should be exempt from the increased minimum wage, last thing we need is a load of small businesses closing down Plus the minimum wage should be regional to reflect the cost of living, much higher in London than say Newcastle or Liverpool where everything is much cheaper
  7. Pensioners deserve a good standard of living in their old age, the state pension is already too low, should be £200 a week
  8. On the UK stage i would say Cameron is the best public speaker, not on Obama level but certainly the best imho since Michael Heseltine for the tory party and not far off Blair level Ed is going to be about the same as Gordon Brown in the debates imho, he just hasn't got the delivery
  9. Welfare claimants don't vote tory anyways so cuts to welfare won't affect the general election, welfare reform has been one of our most popular policies among the electorate so if we carry on reforming welfare then it will improve our ratings not damage them Pensioners are also our core voters so keep them sweet they will vote for us They may feel poorer NOW but there are 2 lots of wage increases coming up, April 14 and April 15 for those in work and the IOD reckon the average wage this year is going to go up by about 2.5% in the private sector, this is higher than inflation slightly so less and less people will be feeling worse off Not at all in terms of Cameron, he has shown at PMQ that he is by far the best orator in politics today and Farage would come unstuck in a tv debate as he is a 2 trick pony, immigration and Europe, when he will have to explain to people that he wants a cleaner to pay the same amount of tax as Lord Sugar he will sink like a stone
  10. Improving economic conditions basically By May 2014 : People will feel more confident about the economy, every forecast shows continual growth between now and May 14 More people will be in jobs than now Wages will keep up with or outstrip the cost of living in much of the private sector The likely abysmal performances of Ed in the tv debates The relentless media onslaught against Ed / Labour More and more people joining the housing ladder, we had a massive lead over other parties among homeowners
  11. Taking into account the likelyhood of continued growth all the time between now and next election, protest voters returning to the fold from UKIP, incumbency effect for existing tory mp's and Ed being a terrible orator in the election tv debates i think the result will be Tory 39% Labour 31% Lib Dem 12% UKIP 9% Others 9%
  12. This I can well believe :( Just saw a program tonight called Benefits Street It was like an 60 min advert for Currys with all the massive plasma screens, iPhones, satellite dishes and games consoles on display in claimants houses
  13. Early days dear boy early days We have 16 months worth of economic recovery ahead, if this does not transmit into increased tory votes I will be very surprised
  14. Sad to see one of my heroes musically growing up turning into someone who should really be sectioned for his own good :(
  15. Then there would be no time for a serious debate as about a dozen people or so would have to give an answer IMHO Farage should not be allowed to take part UKIP have no MPs, there is a strong chance that after 2015 they will still have no MPs There should be maybe a seperate debate for leaders of fringe parties but a guy with no representation in parliament should not be invited into the main debate
  16. I prefer the real world tbh And in the real world things are getting a lot better, growth outstripping much of the civilised world, more people in jobs than ever before, the Chinese and Russians are queueing up to buy property in this country and invest in businesses, interest rates are nearly the lowest in the world, many companies cant keep up with demand, stores are packed to the rafters of people buying things Whereas labour like to talk down Britain, whenever unemployment falls instead of praising the government they try blame it on zero hours contracts and benefit sanctions as opposed to the fact that over 30m people have a job for the first time in our history When there is growth instead of congratulating it like patriots labour again find some way of talking it down They are anti Britain
  17. Inflation is forecast to be around 1.5% by the end of next year so it would not take earth shattering pay rises to beat that level, public sector workers are getting 1% and wages usually rise higher in the private sector so even pay rises of 1.6-2% would be above inflation so would ease the cost of living issue Rumours at my company are we are getting 2.1% and i very much doubt that that will be the highest in the private sector
  18. The CBI said recently that they think pay rises in the private sector this year will be higher than the inflation rate will be by the end of 2014
  19. Status Quo Slade Deep Purple The Scorpions Tina Turner
  20. Exactly No coherent policies on taxation, immigration or welfare, just soundbites and more soundbites Him and Ed have been found to be hopelessly wrong on the economy too as Osbourne's austerity measures despite the naysayers is soon to turn us into the strongest economy in Europe so if Ed can get something like that hopelessly wrong then he is unfit for government He will just copy his chum Hollande with disasterous consequences He keeps prattling on about the 'cost of living' like some sort of King Canute figure sitting in a chair as the waves roll in trying to hold back the tide while at the same time the economy is surging ahead, inflation is falling so pay rises and falling inflation will take care of his cost of living soundbite
  21. Ed Miliband is a man without a plan and a man without a clue, a hopeless bumbling Mr Bean figure All soundbites and hot air Thank god he will never be PM
  22. I know I have had a few glasses of wine but muslims spiritual home is Mecca which last i knew was in Saudi Arabia Muslims make annual trip there to pray When muslims pray at home or in mosque they face Mecca when they are on their prayer mats When a muslim dies he is buried with his feet facing Mecca or something So where was I wrong in my post?
  23. They should be subject to the same rules, no hard job seeking...no money
  24. Yeah but they are joined at the hip to us, someone in Belfast wanting to go down to Dublin for the day doesn't need a passport, there are no border controls as far as i know, the Irish are our 'brothers', honorary Brits as far as i am concerned In terms of refugees from Syria, why should they come here? how many countries are there before you reach England? dozens and a stretch of water, plenty of places for them to settle before reaching UK
  25. They are technically part of the UK Get a vote on our X Factor for example and if i remember rightly were part of Team GB So i would have no problem with that as the Irish are honorary Brits, they welcome here
