  5. From InTheNews Kylie: 'Best dressed celeb' Monday, 08 Jan 2007 14:10 Kylie has been praised for her chic style Kylie Minogue has been named as the best dressed female celebrity by Glamour magazine. The glamorous Australian singer shot to the number one spot from 26th place last year after the "Parisian chic" style she adopted following her battle with breast cancer. Glamour editor Jo Elvin said that Kylie's "classic personal style" is one that "women really identify with". "We've seen a newer, softer-looking Kylie emerge this year – she's still sexy, but she's not flaunting that side of herself in gold hotpants any more," she added. "She's letting it shine through subtly." Such is Kylie's currently much-praised fashion style that an exhibition is to be held from next month at London's Victoria and Albert Museum, containing performance costumes and photographs of the singer throughout her career. Victoria Beckham has also been singled out for praise, coming second in the Glamour list. Ms Elvin said that Posh had earned her place due to her willingness to embrace new styles. Nicole Richie came in third place and former number one Kate Moss slipped into fourth position. Meanwhile Moss' boyfriend, the Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty, was named as one of the worst dressed males.
  6. From GenerationQ Kylie: Gay icon of all time Kylie Minogue has been voted as the Number 1 gay icon of all time. by Chris Pycroft on 2007-01-06 Kylie Minogue has topped the charts, but this time it was not for music. The pop star has been voted the best gay icon of all time. Over 5,000 took part in the poll which was conducted by Onepoll.com. John Sewell, spokesperson for the site, said about Kylie's conquering "Kylie Minogue epitomises everything a gay icon should be. She's glamorous, fun, stylish and just a little bit kitsch." Other notable high appearances include ABBA at #3, Judy Garland at #4, David Beckham at #6, Madonna at #7 and Audrey Hepburn at #8. From DailyRecord GAYS DON'T SEE GORDON AS DISH OF THE DAY GORDON Ramsay has come out bottom in a poll of the top 50 gay icons that saw Kylie Minogue hailed as the greatest of all time. The Aussie songstress has bounced back after getting the all-clear in her cancer fight and is back in the hearts of gay fans. Runner-up in the poll was another diminutive dame - Country and Western legend Dolly Parton. Busty Dolly won the admiration of an army of gay fans with camp anthems such as 9 to 5 and Jolene. More than 5000 gay men and women took part in the poll, which saw ABBA take third place. Ostentatious outfits, cheesy pop songs and dodgy dancing secured their place as true gay icons. In fourth place was Judy Garland, whose lifelong battles with drink, drugs and men, have assured her a place in gay iconography. Her daughter Liza Minnelli was not far behind in 10th place. Never ones to be left out, the Beckhams featured prominently - David in sixth place and Victoria at number 12. John Sewell, spokesman for Onepoll.com who carried out the survey, said: "Kylie Minogue epitomises everything a gay icon should be. "She's glamorous, fun, stylish and just a little bit kitsch." But fiery Scots chef Ramsay might have to tame his temper if he wants to set the gay world alight - he propped up the poll in 50th place. LifeLight

From Metro Ronan in Boyzone comeback Thursday, December 21, 2006 Can Ronan lead a successful Boyzone return?Following the success of Take That's comeback tour, Irish boy band Boyzone has signed up for a reunion tour next year. Despite his successful solo career, Ronan Keating, has agreed to team up with his former band mates which means the group can go one better than Take That who were forced to go on tour without Robbie Williams. An insider said: “It's a massive coup to get all five members signed up, Ronan has been the one that's bee reluctant to agree all along. He has a very successful solo career, but thankfully he's finally realised the success the band could have again and he's given in to the fans.†It was Keating's decision to leave the band in 1999 that led to its demise and since then the former band members Stephen Gately, Mikey Graham, Keith Duffy and Shane Lynch have struggled to regain their previous levels of success. The band is planning to do a tour featuring their greatest hits. “After the tour Boyzone will judge the reaction and decide if they want to keep going together and release an album of new stuff,†said the source. From Rolling Stone Will Next Year Rock? This was a colossal year for rock & roll. Will 2007 produce similar results? A slew of highly anticipated albums are slated to drop in the next twelve months. Here are some of the most buzzworthy and what to expect: * Arcade Fire - Neon Bible Throughout U2’s Vertigo Tour, they took the stage to Arcade Fire’s "Wake Up," off the band’s brilliant 2004 Funeral . Fans can get a sneak preview of lead single "Intervention" by calling 1-866-NEON-BIBLE ext. 7777. * Courtney Love - How Dirty Girls Get Clean The buzz on the dirty blonde’s second solo disc has been mega. We found America’s Sweetheart to be criminally underrated, but one could easily blame that on Courtney’s public persona and not the music. Here’s hoping this time she lets the music do the talking. * The Shins - Wincing the Night Away While the Shins’ third album is no grand departure in sound, it is a great step forward. This beautiful album is an early contender for the best record of 2007. * Gnarls Barkley - Title TBA The crazy duo of Cee-Lo and Danger Mouse spent the holiday season in the studio recording their funky follow-up to 2006’s St. Elsewhere. Expect the band to preview a new song or two when Gnarls open for the Red Hot Chili Peppers in February. * The Doves - Title TBA The Mercury Prize nominated Brits will drop their fourth proper studio album in late summer/early autumn of 2007. * Metallica - Title TBA The metalheads disappointed many folks with St. Anger, but their next record, slated for the fall, is said to be very Master of Puppets. This is the band’s first time recording with new bassist Rob Trujillo and new producer Rick Rubin. * Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - Some Loud Thunder The band that scares the $h!t out of record companies will release its sophomore album in January. With no major label backing, CYHSY sold an uber-impressive 125,000 copies. * Ted Leo and the Pharmacists - Living With the Living This will be their first new album since the band left Lookout! for Touch & Go Records. Expect them to tour the album for two years straight. * Radiohead - Title TBA The band previewed a bunch of new songs during a 2006 small theater tour and have been updating fans on the album’s progress via their Dead Air Space blog. * Modest Mouse – We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank Will the band’s success float on? * John Mellancamp - Freedom Road The lead single, "Our Country," became the official song of Chevrolet in October. Now, his new record label worries that the song is over-exposed and will hurt sales. * Fall Out Boy - Infinity Is High The emo superstars drop their highly anticipated new record, then head out on a massive tour. * Norah Jones - Not Too Late Norah has been keeping herself busy with secret side-projects, including the country music styling of the Little Willies and the pop-punk of El Madmo. Not Too Late marks her return to adult-friendly music and marks the return of her hit-songwriting partner Jesse Harris, who penned "Don’t Know Why" * Lucinda Williams - West You never know what to expect from a new Lucinda Williams record, but the bar is always extremely high. Her last effort, 2003’s World Without Tears, saw her playing around with blues and hip-hop beats. Whoa! And that’s not even including new albums from Interpol, Britney Spears, Björk, Lifetime, Sam Champion, Stephen Malkmus and Takka Takka. What are you looking forward to? -- Jason Gordon LifeLight
