  1. Apparently this got bought up on Radio 4 and the BBC didn't actually complain about this song. Rumour has it was SBS or RTÉ. Fans seemed to have just assumed it was the BBC Eurofans jumping to conclusions? Surely not LOL
  2. To be honest if it managed top 5 on jury vote even with a crappy/non existent televote it would still have a shot a top 10 overall. The lowest a top 10 jury song has ever finished overall was 15th. That was Lucie in 2017 and she only came 10th juries.
  3. I really like Sandman! :o I'm still not convinced it's our entry though.

I've never ordered a country to stay at home, prohibit them for seeing dying love ones, only to break those rules myself. It's not the same, it's disgusting and you should be ashamed for defending him.

Omicron has it claws well and truly stuck in here too. Biggest day ever yesterday for infections here in Iceland . 893 :( , beating the previous record of 494 which set....two days ago. Proportionally these are UK/Denmark type numbers for us. What's more concerning is we've had relative restrictions for the past month - masks, 2m rule and 11pm closing for bars and restaurants, 20 people, AND we are at about 50% already for the booster shot and YET we still have these numbers. So God knows what England is playing at.

Re: Southern Europe- Spain and especially Portugal have very high vaccination rates. Last time I checked both were well over 80% of the entire population. Just at a glance, seems to be North and West where vaccine hesitancy is more of an issue. i wonder why?

I'm actually fuming about this, but not sure exactly what I should do. :(

    Absolutely vile.

But this the point. Here in Reykjavík things pretty much are back to normal BECAUSE we had these restrictions in place and opened gradually. Whats going to happen in the UK now with this approach of everything open at once(which literally NO OTHER Western nation is doing) is massive infection(already happening) and death and then lockdown will be needed AGAIN. We can live our lives and enjoy ourselves whilst learning to live alongside Covid(which hopefully will become much less problematic in the long run) but this idea of oh well it's all over now...no, just no. We can't put our lives on hold I agree, but we need to get out of this mondset of Covid is done, because it isn't and won't be for a while.
  16. It's an awful idea.

I still think there are a bazillion different ways they could have tackled in. Here in Iceland for example, bars and pubs mostly stayed open but with reduced opening hours(ex. 10 or 11pm instead of 3 or 4am at the weekends - yes Icelanders are nightowls!) And max people limits e.g. 20 or 30, table service so that people weren't going up to the bar brushing shoulders with each other. The result? Yeah we've had a smattering of cases here and there but nothing like whats happening in Europe or the UK right now. In addition to a fast robust vax prógram alongside those restrictions - 85% fully vaxxed, we're in a relatively good position. And yes, Iceland has a much smaller arguably managable Population than the UK, but the point still stands. This is why all the shoulder shrugging and "oh well we tried" doesn't wash with me.

    AMEN to all of that

Over 54,000 cases today, up again from yesterday. I don't agree with the "what else can we do?" attitude at all. There is loads we could have done to reduce infection whilst gradually opening things. Not flinging everything open at once for a start. Rotten government, catastrophic handling of covid. THE END.
  20. Stop, just stop.

Yes. Some of the xenophobia that's been thrown around in the last few days on both sides as turned my stomach. I'm glad that's over. I also think some England fans would have been insufferable had they won.

Anyways...well done Italy- deserved. Can we all agree on being glad it's over!

Amen. I am the furthest thing from a "flag shagger" or a raging nationalist. I think the way some(see SOME) of the England fans as well as England politically in the few years is atrocious...but some of the quips and taunts from ALL sides I've seen in the last few days are in very bad taste.

I thought we agreed to keep this tread free of taunting and personal quips?

100,000 cases a day? That is terrifying. No, we can't live under a Rock forever, but the idea that we just go back 100% to how things were when there is still so much we don't know about this disease(because that's what it is) is insane. I'm seeing so much of "oh well..we've tried, we just have to get on with it now." Just.....no. There is so much the government didn't try or didn't do. Disgraceful.
