Ah I see, I wasn't aware of Chinas age cap. I taught in Vietnam for 2 years. The requirements for a work permit were a bachelors degree in any field, a TEFL certificate, and be a native speaker(US, UK, Canada etc). There is a slight preference for younger teachers however there were plenty I knew of in their 50's so age definately isn't a barrier in itself, and if you work for a language center like I did they will take care of the application process for you. You just need to make sure everything is apostilled in the UK. I know plenty of people who didn't go through all the legal steps and worked under the table for less established schools and just got paid in cash(wouldn't recommend this of course but it's a reality and a LOT of people do it). Anyway, enough side stepping from me. :)

Side note, have you considered teaching in Asia? Places like China and Vietnam are crying out for native English teachers and it also usually quite easy to save money due to the cost of living being so low 🙂

It's complete lunacy. I moved to Iceland back in March and they have said that everyone that is here already will be protected even in the(utterly ridiculous) event of no deal. I still worry for my family back home though. They aren't rolling in money by any means. As for the gormless twats that are championing no deal like certain people on here...I used to have sympathy for their refusal to accept they are being lied to...not anymore..I hope their lives get hit as hard as possible. For what they are doing to us and our families...hey deserve it.

Yes, we are. And having lived outside the UK for a few months in a multicultural city, I can tell you from first hand experience it's not because we voted to leave and are still in the EU. It's because of how our government are handling negotiations and pushing for a 'no deal' with all of it's disastrous consequences. To quote a friend 'Sorry buddy, but the world is laughing at the UK right now and what it's about to do to itself'.

Forgive my countless spelling errors in my previous post. They were in part due to me hurriedly/passionately responding to the suggestion that Priti Patel would make a good Prime Minister. Look at her voting record. Chris, you are beyond help. These people are literally out to make life worse for people in situations like yours. You ask us to show empathy for you, and yes perhaps Kaths reponse was a bit insensitive but you hardly seem to be showing empathy yourself to all of the people who will be effected by the ghastly policies that this group of twats will in the very least attempt to inforce. Rely on the NHS? Good luck with that.
