It's so shitty to have to deal with. My sister gets marries back in England in early August and whilst as a fully vaxxed resident of Iceland there's nothing to stop me from going to the wedding, provided I have tests in and out...I'm just looking at the case numbers in the UK...and I'm like really? Do í really want to risk that? Say I test positive (vaccine doesn't stop you from getting it) and I'm stuck there for two weeks and I lose 2 weeks of work. :(

All inland restrictions being lifted here in Iceland as of midnight tonight - which means club can be open until 4.30! Although I don't quite have the stamina for that now at 34. :lol: We're closing in on 90% of the adult population having had at least one shot so I can't say I'm suprised, and were on about 60% for both shots - uptake has been high. I think we're the first in Europe to lift everything inland

Still waiting for residency cards here in Iceland, pretty much everyone in the expat community keeps asking where they are. They've been constantly pushed back since November. The immigration dept. here is unless.

If you have a family history where blood clots are concerned and you are young then yes I can totally see why would want to have Pfizer/Moderna. I think the pauses and limiting to older age groups was the right move but still maintain there's been unnecessary scaremongering as far as AZ and Jensen are concerned. A 1 in 97000 chance of me getting a bloodclot vs the risk of catching covid and becoming very sick and dying. I know which one I'd take. But again, thats me personally.

To add to the good news pile...We had our biggest day for jabs yesterday here in Iceland - 12,000(the equivalent of about 2m in the UK..yes I know we're tiny). We also did a similar number the day before so things are definitely picking up speed now on the continent! It's look a bit more hopeful for me flying home for my sisters wedding in August now!

Yeah that's a s*itty move from China. Not that west has been innocent when it comes to dicking around and playing games as far as vaccines are concerned, but this sets a dangerous precedent. I just hope other countries don't take the bait and pull the same move on China.

EMA have recommended that AZ vaccine as safe for use. There is no causal link to clotting, however there might be low risk to clotting where low platelets are concerned but they have not been able to determine this. No new cases in Iceland yesterday, and only 21 active infections nationwide! People still have to wear masks in public places and border controls will remain VERY tight(which makes sense with how much of the world is currently faring, but local restrictions are very slowly being lifted. Gyms are allowed to operate but you have to prebook. Bars and pubs are allowed to open again(previously they were forced to shut for 2 months) but they have to close at 10 and it's table service only with a limit on people. Wish they'd get a move on with the vaccine though. The roll out has been sluggish.

That's actually still quite high. A lot of vaccines are around that number. Like the flu jab for example.

Oh I don't know...I'd sooner rather have somebody arriving in the UK from a foreign country, willing to work hard and pay their taxes than someone who was born in Britain but hasn't worked a day in their life, has contributed nothing to society in the way of service or tax but still feels they have the right to judge others.

She's reacted badly yes, and there is definitely a discussion to be had about whether neuro-typical people should be playing differently abled(sorry if im not spot on with my terminology, I'd gladly be corrected) :) people. HOWEVER.. I completely understand her frustrations. She's spent three years working on this project with presumably nothing but good intentions and I would argue that its quite a brave subject matter to tackle. To be immediately dismissed, and "cancelled" as it were by the Twitter mob...I would probably feel the same way as Sia. But yes, her replies...not cute.

Yeah....I don't care how tough your job is, there's a difference between being a tough boss(i.e. firm but fair whose not afraid to give critism when it's needed and deserved) and humilating and insulting your staff. Any other profession she would have been out on her ear a long time ago. A genuine psychopath.

Unfortunately, the fact she has kept her job doesn't suprise me in the slightest. Given this s*ht for brains government id be far more suprised if she was actually held accountable for her actions
