I think a realistic prospect would be somebody like Foxes. Theres also a few things pointing towards her. Her album was delayed recently been delayed and no reason has been given.

But this is exactly the point I´m making. It´s not just the opinion of the artist "oh I don´t mind doing it", theres the legal side of it of well, their record labels etc deciding on what and what isn´t a good investment of their time. If anything I would say theres actually MORE chance in the next 10-15 years of Adele doing it, as shes already made her millions and has a global reputation so wouldn´t be tarnished as much.

Fair point about having fun guessing who it will be and sorry if I came across a bit snarky with the Dua Lip thing. I would love it to be someone with the profile of Mabel, and I will truly eat my hat if its her, but I´m not going to get too excited just because the reveal day happens to be a quiet day for her schedule wise.

I´m sorry but how many times...a current big very successful artist from the UK is NOT going to do Eurovision. They have nothing to gain from it and everything to lose. It will *NOT* be Mabel. I would put my life savings on it. I feel bad for people when they inevitably feel dissapointed every UK reveal day, but they get so carried away with the speculations.

Christ on a bike guys, It's obviously not going to be anybody like Mabel! :lol: :lol: Far more likely it's somebody who had some success on R1 and 2 a few years back(i.e. late noughties, early tens) whose looking for a career reboot. e.g. JLS, Foxes.

Yeah I know there is a preference for younger teachers in some schools. However, in my language center we had guys in their 50s(I want to say early 60s as well but I´m not sure, and if you have experience to boot a lot of school will put that first. But yes, I agree with your main point. The opportunity to go and live and work somewhere outside of your comfort zone has just been made significantly long winded for many, especially those who don´t want to move to the opposite side of the world or teaching English(it really isn´t for everyone :lol: )

On a related side note. Have you considered maybe looking at Asia? Countries like China, Vietnam, Korea are crying out for ESL teachers. The usual requirements are have a passport from a native English speaking country(so being EU is not a requirement), hold a TEFL or CELTA and a degree(in anything), and whilst I don´t have a crystal ball, I don´t see the requirements for a work permit changing in the several years at least as they are crying out for competent teachers. Or does it have to be Europe?

It's beautiful. Don't get me wrong, it's not without its problems. The dark winters get to people. There are two things Icelandic doctors are pros with - broken bones(trips and falls because of Ice) and depression(daylight in December is basically 11am to 3pm). I work full time in a chain of shops and teach online so I'm not earning megabucks by any means, but I put in the graft and I get paid very fairly. Yes tax is high but it's spent correctly. I have no plans to go back to the UK.

Chris, you have never lived elsewhere so how can you possibly comment? You'd probably say the same thing about Iceland but every British expat I know loves it here and has no intention of going home anytime soon -Clean, safer, higher standard of living, much better state pension, far better workers rights - unions here are super strong, you don't f*ck with your employees. Yes, its expensive but the salaries reflect that. You can't have these conversations with people objectively when you keep your head in this tiny box.

My guess is that Silas best bet would be just to keep an eye on the independence movement and see which is likely to happen first...German citizenship or Scotland becoming an independent state and then an EU nation. The only thing with Germany is I'm pretty sure they don't allow dual nationality(please correct me Silas or anybody else if I'm wrong on this). I'm suprised the UK does to be honest, but when the time comes where I'm eligible for Icelandic citizenship and if I'm in a position where I can only have one, I know which one I'll choose - Takk fyrir! B-)

I've avoided social media etc tonight. The leavers have got their wish, but the way we had our faces rubbed in it tonight is just f***ing foul. Especially over something so devisive that had a very very slim majority and probably wouldn't even go through now. Utterly disgusting. I cant even identify with England anymore. A vote for this government is a vote for fascism, plain and simple
