Tomorrow we will remember Elvis on what would have been his 79th birthday! I saw this article and thought it apt to share it on Buzzjack B-) Elvis Presley's Birthday: What does one remember or think about on Elvis Presley's birthday? The 1950's, or the Army years? What about the sixties movies and Las Vegas? Or the controversy surrounding his death? All of those aspects may come to mind when one recalls Elvis; but I have noticed that almost everyone I speak to overlooks one tremendously important aspect: His impact on our world today. When you look at any truly talented singer today; from the Beatles to Lady Gaga; they are all touched in one way or another by Elvis Presley. Elvis paved the way for future performers to express themselves freely and not be stopped by any barrier. Born shortly after the Great Depression, in Tupelo, Mississippi; Elvis was destined for greatness. By the age of 21, he had a gold record, one million dollars and a movie deal. He inspired people to fulfill the ‘American Dream’ all over the world and demonstrated that it was attainable. Throughout his life, he gave to people sometimes with donations to various charities or with hope. Hope for someone, that someday, they would be able to live without the fear of being judged because they are a different race or religion. Hope to that one kid in every school who was always different and harassed or looked down on. One day they could rise above those who tormented them and be successful and have the life they had always wanted. And so, today on the seventy-ninth anniversary of his birth, let us not remember him for his death or common human qualities; but for his contribution to all generations: past, present and future. “ It’s rare when an artist’s talent can touch an entire generation of people. It’s even rarer when that same influence affects several generations.” --Dick Clark. Article by EIN contributor Jenna Jachles. (News, Source;JennaJachles/ElvisInfoNetwork)

  11. That is fantastic news, Brian!
  12. I do like the part where they suggest that 'Elvis' will be associated with 'higher range products'. Much better than some of the tacky products we've seen ;)
  13. It certainly is great news that the album is doing so well. It just goes to show what some decent promotion can do
  14. It's great news that the concerts are sold out! I can say that because I already have my tickets B-)
  15. Not holding my breath for a positive response from them, Brian. Like you, I was disappointed that it wasn't Elvis

  21. Thank you for posting the video, Brian. It's a good video, very apt for Save The Children. Of course it's great to have a new 'Elvis' single. My only 'problem' (if you can call it that) with this track, is that I felt that Elvis was just a 'backing singer', Maybe it's just me  I do hope that it helps Save The Children charity. That can only be a good thing B-)
  22. Elvis is doing really well! It was so good to see him and his music on prime time TV and the television adverts for the album. About time
