New FTD Releases out Late This Week: FTD are hoping to deliver the delayed October releases to dealers late this week, hopefully October 25. - 'The On Stage Season' - this 2-CD release features the two sensational Opening and Closing shows from January 26, 1970 and February 23, 1970. It comes with a 16-page 4-colour booklet, featuring great photographs from the season and a insightful essay by Ann Moses Marino. These historic soundboard recordings were made by Elvis’ sound engineer Bill Porter at the request of Tom Diskin and have been previously out on bootleg releases. FTD will surely remaster these concerts for the best audio. Disc 1 recorded at the opening night show January 26, 1970 at the International Hotel, Las Vegas. Disc 2 recorded at the closing night show on February 23, 1970 at the International Hotel, Las Vegas. 'Café Europa - G.I. Blues Vol. 2' - This 2-disc "Classic Album" 7” set follows on from the successful Volume 1 released back in 2012. The 16-page booklet features memorabilia, photographs and contains the long-awaited "In and Outtakes" information for both releases. Newly remastered and sounding better than any previous release, the original masters including studio banter have been newly remixed from the original studio tape. While the majority of the tracks are from the second happier G.I. Blues session at Radio Recorders, this release does also include most of the April 27-28 outtakes that were missed from G.I. Blues Volume.1 Go to EIN's FTD/SONY 2013 news for full tracklist http://www.elvisinfonet.com/EIN_ELVIS_FTD_...eases_2013.html (News, Source;EPE/ElvisInfoNet)

  11. Lisa Marie Confirms new Elvis Presley Movie In a recent discussion with the media, Lisa Marie Presley confirmed that talks for a big screen film about the life of her father Elvis have begun and she is all for a credible new biopic. Without her naming the production it is likely to be 'Last Train to Memphis' which is in pre-production for Fox 2000 with rumoured ('Marley'/'Last King of Scotland') director Kevin MacDonald. Based on the 1995 Peter Guralnick biography, the film chronicles Presley’s early years and his transformation from a high school kid to an overnight sensation credited with ushering in a radical new era in music. Mick Jagger and Victoria Pearman will produce through their Jagged Films banner along with Steven Bing, who will produce through his Shangri-La shingle. John Fusco is adapting the script. Jagger has been championing musical biopics lately, clearly a natural fit for the seasoned rocker and he’s also producing a James Brown biopic starring Chadwick Boseman. (News, Source;Various/ElvisInfoNet) Really looking forward to this

  15. Elvis - No Twerk Priscilla Presley took a stand in support of her late ex-husband recently when she declared that the Miley Cyrus 'twerking' controversy had no business being compared to the early days of Elvis' career. Read more : http://www.elvis.com.au/presley/elvis_no_t...h.sJ0EXOeV.dpbs
  16. Tim Rice Talks Elvis Presley: Legendary Tony and Oscar-winning lyricist Sir Tim Rice (right) discussed his new West End musical 'From Here To Eternity' as well as his famous collaborations with Andrew Lloyd Webber, including working with the King of Rock N Roll himself, Elvis Presley in a new interview with Graham Norton on BBC Radio 2. So, how precisely did Tim Rice get the chance to work with his idol Elvis? "Gosh, long story," Rice relates. "Basically, I knew Elvis' music publisher, Freddie Beanstalk, and he said, 'If you guys got a song that would suit Elvis, then I'll try to get it to him,'" Rice says of the meeting. "So, two days later we gave him two songs, and Elvis recorded it "It's Easy For You" about three years later." "It was on Elvis' last album before he was tragically taken from us," Rice adds on a historical note. "It was the last track on the last side of his last album and we thought, 'My God' perhaps we might have finished him off!" (News, Source;SanjaM/ElvisInfoNet)
  17. 'The Elvis Presley Story' stream it NOW via BBC Radio: The Elvis Presley Story was originally distributed by Watermark as a radio series back in 1971 with 12 one hour programs - but was then updated following Elvis' death in 1977. It was written by Elvis biographer Jerry Hopkins and narrated by US media personality Wink Martindale and produced / directed by Ron Jacobs. The series is possibly more fascinating NOW as it includes interviews with so many of Elvis' acquaintances (Marion Keisker, Gordon Stoker, Bob Neal, Carl Perkins, Alan Fortas, etc etc) who have since died. It is available THIS WEEK streaming via BBC Radio 6. In 13 parts - each 1 hour long - and each day another episode becomes available. Don't miss out as there is limited time to catch each episode - GO HERE to BBC Radio 6 - and listen now. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00spq51/episodes/guide (News, Source;RonaldW/ElvisInfoNet)
