No, I've never heard of Steelheart either!

Surely that's good enough reason to hate it :D

They didn't release it in 1987. That's a mistake. It should be the Temptations.

I remember the Metallica EP being a surprise new entry as I'd barely heard of them at the time. Gary Davies used to play all the new entries at lunchtime and the track he chose from the EP was "Crash Course In Brain Surgery". "Great title!" he said.
  5. Lennon had died by the time "Woman" was released as a single though so sadly he couldn't recover from that one. Some people say McCartney's "Flowers In The Dirt" (1989) was a return to form but I don't think he's made a decent record since the 1982 single "Take It Away".
  6. I bought two of those at the time. Can you guess which ones?
  7. The only one of those I like is Wah!'s "Story Of The Blues". Though as we know, Pete Wylie made better records both before and after that one. My line manager at work knows bugger all about music, but likes "Walking In Memphis" by Marc Cohn and "Wind Of Change" by the Scorpions. Would you put those in the same category??? I don't like either of them!
  8. Yes, I prefer the Timebox version too. Don't see the point in this Frankie Valli remix at all!

Is he going to follow it up with "All The Songs I Hate"?
  10. I love "The Runner" by the Three Degrees but I wouldn't say it was particularly cheesy :)

I also like : Geordie - "All Because Of You" (featuring Brian Johnson, later of AC/DC) Mud - "Crazy" (one of their early classics, before Les Gray started trying to sound more like Elvis with every release!)
  12. Yeah, "California Man" is great too. The TOTP appearance was once believed wiped but turned up on TOTP2 a few years ago. Of course the final Move line-up was the same as the first ELO line-up : Roy Wood, Jeff Lynne and Bev Bevan.

Would there be any interest though?? People might think "who's this trainspotter?"
  14. True, but most people don't seem to be able to get past the image. Anyway, I prefer the Move when he didn't look quite as ridiculous :D

I like all Roy Wood's successful incarnations though I have to say that the Move were the best of the lot. Favourite songs are "I Can Hear The Grass Grow" and the later "Brontosaurus" and "Tonight". Also like "10538 Overture" (best thing ELO did in my opinion) and the early Wizzard hits. A talented guy. Shame a lot of people see him as a bit of a joke though.

"Lady Eleanor" is great. The only one I remember being in the charts though was "Run For Home". Not as good. Let's try and forget the Gazza collaboration, eh?!

I can still just about remember him being on telly in his rocking chair in the early '80s! Oh, he was No.40 in my list of 'Acts who appeared on TOTP the most times' :D

    ...and me :)
  19. I didn't think you'd be interested as it's just the old TOTP2/Poptastic lot, but here you go anyway :) : http://z6.invisionfree.com/popscene
  20. I don't think Avril is the real thing though! I believe she was a country and western fan but was forced to sing the stuff she did because it would appeal to 'the kids'. It worked of course!
  21. Mark's given up posting his series anywhere, but he may as well start again now as Pete seems to have disappeared anyway. I've posted one for today on my new board, but only as a one-off Easter treat. I suppose I can always delete it if it winds Pete up too much :D

"Love Is In The Air" was by John Paul Young. John Paul Jones was in Led Zeppelin :)

Well said, David! I just clicked onto this thread to say pretty much the same thing
  24. No, I think I'd rather listen to "It's A Mystery" or "I Want To Be Free" than "Complicated" or "Sk8er Boi" :)

    Sent mine too :)
