  1. They've just copied the info straight from the TOTP database. Useful though as the database always seems to be breaking down.
  2. My parents had always bought me singles from being very young, but the first singles I actually went into a shop and bought myself were Adam & The Ants' "Stand & Deliver" and "Prince Charming". First album I bought myself was probably "Absolutely" by Madness, over a year after it was released.

I prefer Donovan myself, probably because my dad was a big fan. He liked Dylan too but only had a couple of his albums.

I hate to admit it but it's true! Madness were my favourite band when I was a kid, but their recent single is just awful! Hope there's better stuff on the forthcoming album.

Their two most synth-heavy singles too! I like those, plus "Is That Love?", "Another Nail In My Heart" and most of the others.

Not bad, but too much of a Big Country rip-off really. I like "How Does It Feel" and "Bangin' Man" myself.

I thought their hair had grown by the time of "Get Down & Get With It"? Ah well, I wasn't born so what do I know ^_^

"Flame" is a great film. First saw in on TV in 1989 but I don't think it's been on since. Didn't "Fisherman's Blues" by the Waterboys have a fiddle break too? Oh, and "Hurricane" by Bob Dylan.
  9. Stool Pigeon...ha cha cha cha! Good song.
  10. Disappointing tracklisting as expected. I won't be buying it!
  11. I'd like to get the new best of but it annoys me that they've taken one song off - "The Puppet". I don't think it was on "Ballyhoo" either. Also the live version of "Crocodiles" should be on there as it was a Top 40 hit as part of the "Shine So Hard" EP.
  12. Hi Rob. I like that Hollies track too. Shame they followed it with the awful "Jennifer Eccles"!
  13. THE DRIFTERS – Come On Over To My Place... ...hey you, we're having a Wimpy!" :D
  14. Cud

It probably is rude actually. The chorus goes "I'm gonna take you high in my purple love balloon" so make of that what you will :D

I used to love Cud so I bought the new compilation and it's brilliant. Hadn't heard most of those songs for over a decade and they still sound surprisingly fresh. "Purple Love Balloon" was a live favourite which started out as a B-side and was later re-recorded for single release. I must admit I always thought the title sounded rude but the lyrics sounded quite inoffensive. It wasn't banned as such, just not played during the day as none of Cud's singles were anyway despite them being quite radio-friendly. I did hear it on the Top 40 once though when it entered (and peaked) at No.27 in 1992.
  16. Yeah, it's great. I like "Homburg" and "Conquistador" too.

  18. No, it's not "Mandy". He said within the Top 75.
  19. Yeah, just checked : "Star Trekkin'" went 74-13-1 "West End Girls" entered at No.80 but climbed to 59 the following week.
  20. "Relax" entered at 77 though it spent its first week in the Top 75 at No.67.
  21. He means within the Top 75. I'm guessing at "Star Trekkin'" by The Firm. I think that entered at about No.74.

I was struggling a bit this week which is why I've included Liam Frost. I also wanted Eagles Of Death Metal on but they're not over here at the moment. I try and restrict the 'breakers' to Top 40 but I suppose I could have tagged Lemar onto there. He can be in the studio next week anyway :)
